Recap / One Hundred And One Dalmatian Street S 1 E 7 Winter Funderland

Go To

When the snow day the weather report promised doesn't happen, Dolly decides to make a snow day indoors instead.

This episode features examples of:

  • Cone of Shame: When Clarissa criticizes Dolly's snow party, she looks down in what appears to be a fondue bowl, only for it to turn out to be a puppy wearing this.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: A non-verbal version. Dorothy "sledding" down the stairs on an oversized hat gives Dolly the idea of making a snow day indoors.
  • Foreshadowing: When Clarissa complains about how Dolly's party isn't up to her standards, we get a brief shot of Diesel preparing to lick some ice before getting scared off by Clarissa's reflection appearing in it. Later in the episode, we see he eventually went through with it.
  • Green Aesop: Downplayed in that it's not the main plot, but after Dolly's homemade snow day starts getting a bit too cold, the characters say that "We messed with the climate, and the climate messed with us."
  • Harmless Freezing: This starts happening to characters as the cold temperatures start taking their toll. Most notably it briefly happens to Dylan and Dawkins, with Dolly first assuming they're giving her the silent treatment for what she did.
  • Kick the Dog: When Dee Dee and Dizzy stop enjoying the snow party they ask to follow Clarissa and her friends home. Clarissa pretends to be taken in by their plight before refusing and calling them ruff-raff.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Clarissa gets sent into the air by all the water the pups had to get rid of after constantly complaining about Dolly's ice party and giving the twins a Kick the Dog moment.
  • Mythology Gag: When the family is watching a weather forecast, there are two references to the scene in the original movie where the family watches TV: one pup stands up and puts his paws on the screen (like Lucky), while another is perched on Doug's head, unknowingly covering his eyes (like Freckles did with Pongo).
  • Near-Death Experience: Dylan and Dawkins end up frozen solid, and the same almost happens to the other animals attending Dolly's party. If Dolly hadn't used her warm paws to un-freeze her brothers - and hadn't turned the house's heat back on - everyone else would have frozen to death.
  • Never Say "Die": After Dylan and Dawkins are saved from being frozen solid by Dolly, the former states that everyone will suffer the same fate if things aren't restored to normal - but nobody mentions that the freezing temperatures could kill them.
  • Oh, No... Not Again!: Roxy uses Snowball like an actual snowball, throwing her at Portia. The nonplussed Pomeranian notes that this happens every winter.
  • Properly Paranoid: When Dylan finds out about Dolly's "winter funderland," he chastises her and Dawkins to turn the heat back on before they "all get hypothermia." Dylan is proven right when the party goes south due to the increasingly increasing cold, followed by them almost freezing to death.
  • Tempting Fate: As soon as Dolly says everyone's having fun, we get a montage of things starting to go south at the snow party.
  • Title Drop: When Dolly hypes Dee Dee and Dizzy up for the snow day, she finishes by saying it'll be a "winter funderland."
  • Tongue on the Flagpole: As Dolly's snow party starts going out of control, Diesel gets his tongue stuck on a piece of ice.
  • Underwater Fart Gag: When Clarissa and her friends finally find what seems to be a fondue bowl, a puppy emerges from the liquid as the bubbles stop, much to her disgust.
  • Wingding Eyes: Dolly gets heart eyes from Hansel enjoying the party twice in the episode.
