4 ABY – Death of Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader. The Imperial forces reconvene at the Core World stronghold of Byss.

5 ABY – Grand Admiral Gallius Rax leads the Battle of Jakku against the burgeoning New Republic. The Empire is soundly crushed, splintering into various Remnant factions. Sate Pesage becomes Regent of the newly-formed Imperium - one of the largest of these castoffs. Various high-ranking Moffs and naval officers refuse to heed Pesage's call, and break out on their own. Many attempts are made by warlords to consolidate strength into a greater Imperial powerbase with middling success at best.

6 ABY – Regent Pesage is murdered by Ysanne Isard in a brazen power play. Isard seizes control, undoing much of the damage done by reckless diehards within the Imperium.

9 ABY – Ysanne Isard is killed when her Executor-class vessel, Lusankya, is destroyed. The Imperium subsequently scatters. Baron Soontir Fel, one of the Imperium's highest-ranking officers is alleged to venture into Chiss space where rumors persist of Grand Admiral Thrawn's survival. Sris Lehett seizes power in the Centrality, forming a coalition of the same name while Ardus Kaine establishes the Pentastar Alignment. With the aid of several Moffs, and Sith Cultists from Exegol, a Dwaarti Sage and former advisor to Palpatine, Snoke, founds the First Order on Ilum. Lone warlord Zsinj proves to be the most ambitious of his fellows, marauding the Republic as a credible threat for years to come.

11 ABY – Jedi Master Luke Skywalker founds the New Jedi Order on Yavin IV with the help of Jedi who survived Order 66, such as Empatojayos Brand, Vima-Da-Boda, Kam Solusar, K'kruhk and T'ra Saa. Their numbers swell over the coming years.

12 ABY – For the better part of two years, Zsinj's Empire hounds the Republic armada, until his apparent death at the hands of a strike fleet assembled by Republic General Han Solo. In truth, Zsinj flees beyond the Stygian Caldera, bringing the natives of Moraband into the fold.

14 ABY – Led by Hethir, one of Emperor Palpatine's Grand Inquisitors, a movement calling themselves the Empire Reborn assault Republic space, using an army of artificially-empowered Dark Jedi. Commanding his forces, are High Inquisitor Jerec, the former First Brother, Emperor's Hand Andor Vaklas, Sith cultust Tavion Axmis, and a fallen former Jedi named Desann. In this same year, the Reborn movement is quashed by the Republic, leaving only a handful of survivors. Vaklas narrowly escapes death, departing for Moraband, where he encounters Zsinj.

14.5 ABY – Gleaning secrets from Sith holocrons on Moraband, Vaklas becomes convinced the Baneite Sith, and indeed all other Sith predating him, to be either heretics and apostates. Claiming through visions that he has discovered a true comprehension of the Sith Code like no other before him, and names himself Darth Groznii; the true Dark Lord. Groznii would spend the next several years amassing Sith followers into his New Sith Order, founding the anti-Republic political movement that would later become the Obsidian Union.

15 ABY - Tavion assembles the surviving Reborn, for one last effort to destroy the Jedi. She is routed by Kyle Katarn, while his apprentice Jaden Korr leads the charge against her foot soldiers, defeating them utterly.

16 – 19 ABY – The Pentastar Alignment begins consolidating power, bringing smaller Remnant factions into the fold. Eager to snuff out the Obsidian Union, Natasi Daala is dispatched to dislodge Groznii (known publicly as Vaklas still) from power, succeeding in forcing him to retreat into the Unknown Regions with his followers. In 17 ABY, Groznii, now driven mad by 'prophetic' visions compounded by repeat failure, is ousted by members of his Sith Council in a coup led by the moderate Darth Xaos. Meanwhile, the First Order begins clandestine raids on fellow Remnant territories in an effort to finish construction of a long-dormant and unfinished weapon spawned of the Galactic Empire. A civil war erupts between the various factions, allowing the New Republic to sweep in with ease, and remove many of the smaller ones from the equation. A tenuous peace formed between the now-dominant Pentastar Alignment and New Republic. Both parties signed the Bastion Accords, bringing an end at last to the Galactic Civil War.

20 – 25 ABY – While various factions grow in strength, and a few years of peace settle in to the galaxy, the New Sith O Rder is shook by several schisms that bring it to the point of collapse. In the wake of the fourth and final schism in 23 ABY, the surviving loyalist Sith unanimously agree that Xaos is a worthy leader and name him Dark Lord. Xaos restructures the New Sith Order from the ground up, into the New Sith Brotherhood, appointing twelve Darths to a new Dark Council. With the aid of his most trusted followers, additional restructuring of the Obsidian Union's Stellar Navy and armed forces begins.

26 - 28 ABY – Extragalactic invaders begin assaulting worlds on the galaxy's edge. The Pentastar Alignment is caught in the initial assault of these barbaric invaders, known as the Yuuzhan Vong. While the Republic shores up its own defenses, no attempt at aid nor collaboration is offered. The Alignment's capital of Bastion stands firm through years of brutal onslaught, as the Vong bleed into the galaxy at large, smashing the Alignment and quickly moving through the Republic with ease. Defying the wishes of the Jedi Council, many Jedi Knights join the battle against the Vong, and are killed in a bloodbath later dubbed the Mykr Massacres. Among the dead is the youngest son of Jedi Master Leia Organa and Han Solo – Anakin Solo. His death deeply affects the family; in particular his older siblings, Jaina and Jacen. Jacen takes up arms against the Vong, commanding the survivors of Mykr in a personal vendetta, forming the Jedi Crusaders, while Jaina founds the Silver Jedi in Anakin's honor. The Crusaders do not return, and are presumed dead.

28.5 ABY - A group of Chiss-led Force Sensitives called the Ni'Novian Ascendancy encroach upon Sith space, threatening to reveal the existence of the New Sith Brotherhood. After a clash with their leader, High Lord Trivas, Darth Xaos recalls his followers to New Bethrezen, a space station in the Unknown Regions.

29 ABY – Seizing the opportunity to amass power, the First Order emerges from Wild Space, bringing the might of their now-finished superweapon upon the Vong. Carved into a small moon, the fleet-killing Starkiller Base systematically targets the Vong fleets, obliterating the invaders, weary from war with ease. With a now-unified galaxy against them, the Vong are at last defeated, with the survivors exiled to the fringe world of Zonama Sekot. Blaming a tepid reaction of the Jedi for much of the destruction, the First Order enacts a new purge on the Jedi, forcing their numbers down to less than a thousand. The Jedi, under instruction of Grand Master Luke Skywalker flee to secret strongholds, while he departs with many of his closest Jedi followers for the forgotten world of Acht-To to heal and meditate. With this act, they deny the First Order any large gatherings of Jedi, while the Order survives, and continues to train new Jedi. Skywalker leaves two halves of a map to Acht-To with his sister, and a trusted friend, telling them that when the time comes, the Jedi will re-enter the fray.

30 – 33 ABY – Also known as the Years of Division, various political and social revolts break out against the Republic. Many pro-Pentastar and pro-Separatist movements rise up to criticize perceived inaction from the Senate. The loss of two of their children drives Han and Leia apart, leading to an informal divorce. Han and Chewbacca return to smuggling, while Leia steps down as a Jedi and becomes Senator of New Alderaan. Following a botched smuggling job on Jakku, Han and Chewbacca are forced to make repairs to the Millennium Falcon. Aided by a gifted mechanic and slave, the Falcon is repaired, with Han impressed with the girl's skills. Calling herself Rey Cosinga, the girl claims her parents abandoned her, and begs the pair to liberate her from Jakku, revealing she is Force-sensitive, and dreams of becoming a slave-emancipating Jedi hero someday. Han manages to win Rey's freedom in a game of pazaak, and recruits her as the Falcon's engineer. Han attempts to mend his relationship with his family on New Alderaan, while Rey takes informal Jedi tuition from Han's daughter, Jaina Solo.

Chancellor Cal Omas is ousted in a No-Confidence vote by the Senate amidst critics calling for his public execution. The Obsidian Union officially reveals itself as a Separatist party, and gains much traction in the Senate. Meanwhile the First Order engages in a cold war of espionage and spying with the Republic. Unleashing their Force-sensitive Knights of Ren upon the galaxy, Jedi Master Seba Sabatyne makes the shocking discovery that the Knight's leader, Kylo Ren is in fact Jacen Solo. Jacen and his fellow Jedi Crusaders were captured and tortured by the Vong, only to be saved by the First Order. Disillusioned with the Jedi, Jacen and the Crusaders swore fealty to the First Order's secretive Supreme Leader.

34 ABY – The Obsidian Union 'liberate' the Stygian Caldera from Warlord Zsinj, with the natives heralding them as heroes. The Union sweeps through former Remnant holdings, and minor First Order territories on what it claims to be a freedom-fighting resistance movement, effectively annexing Hutt Space, and thus officially ending slavery in the sector. Many worlds in the Outer Rim begin to secede from the Republic, most of whom are backed by the Obsidian Union, though do not become official members. The Republic decry the Union's increasingly-aggressive actions, and declares it to be an unlawful entity, barring them from the Senate. Many pro-Union Senators secede their worlds from the Republic, and convene on Raxus Secundus, which quickly becomes a powerhouse for the Obsidian Union.

34.5 ABY – The First Order's Supreme Leader recognizes the threat the Obsidian Union pose to his plans for galactic domination, and begins border skirmishes with them, still unaware they are led by the Sith. Meanwhile the Obsidian Union begin to refine the planet-wide scrapyards on Raxus Prime into a new, modern Stellar Navy, capable of meeting the First Order ship for ship in battle.

35 ABY – The First Order begin seeking the location of Acht-To, risking open war. The Republic meanwhile, has successfully de-militarized, with the First Order building a new armada in secret. Though unsanctioned, Senator Organa supports a resistance movement that rekindles the Rebel Alliance led by Admirals Gial Ackbar, Amilyn Holdo, and Wedge Antilles. Pilot and former Republic SIS agent, Poe Dameron is sent to retrieve part of a star map believed to reveal the location of Acht-To, left to a close friend of the Jedi Order. The Alliance believe the time has come to take war to the First Order, and Obsidian Union though know they ultimately cannot defeat the Knights of Ren without the Jedi.

Dameron is captured by Kylo Ren and tortured. He is released by FN-2187, a stormtrooper officer who wishes to defect with his squad after witnessing the Knights of Ren butcher innocent civilians. Nicknaming him Finn, the pair manage to steal a First Order shuttle, and with Finn's squad, flee to Takodana, where they encounter the crew of the Falcon. Asked to deliver them to the Alliance to combine their piece of the star map, with Senator Organa's, the crew agree. An Alliance task force ventures to Acht-To, where they encounter Luke's Jedi Enclave, and convince them to join the fight against the First Order. Noting Rey's keen Force-sensitivity, Master Kyle Katarn agrees to complete the training started by Jaina Solo. The Second Galactic Civil War begins in earnest, with the Republic struggling to muster an effective naval presence in its opening months.

38 ABY – The war enters its third year. While the First Order continues to harass the Republic, a critical blow is dealt, when the Republic First Fleet is driven back in a botched assault on Starkiller Base. The First Order retaliate by destroying the retreating armada, along with the Republic capital world of Hosnian Prime, effectively culling their leadership. The Senate on Coruscant turns to the Jedi Order and Alliance, who form the Galactic Coalition of Free Alliances, and marshal all their forces to begin counter-offensives. In this midst of this destruction, the New Sith Brotherhood hatch a plan to destroy both Starkiller Base, and cripple the Alliance. Spearheaded by Dark Councilor, Darth Exolus, he proposes luring both sides into an unwinnable battle. Thus, Operation Foehammer is born.

38.3 ABY – Operation Foehammer is put into effect, luring the First Order's Death Squadron (escorting Starkiller Base, and the Republic's Fifth Fleet to a moon of Codia. Believing each opposing side to be unleashing a cloaked superweapon of untold power on each faction's respective capital, the Battle of Codia is sparked, culminating in the arrival of the cloaked warship Foehammer. Using an unstable Rakatan weapon bolted to the ship, the Foehammer annihilates the Codian moon, critically-damaging Starkiller Base in the process. In turn, the detonation of the First Order superweapon wipes out both fleets, utterly-decimating the planet Codia, killing billions.
