As Gibbs deals with caffeine withdrawal and two ex wives, the team soon realizes someone is recreating crime scenes from Gibbs' past cases.

- Boom, Headshot!: Diane is shot in the forehead by Mishnev.
- Call-Back: All the murders conducted by Mishnev are recreations of the deaths of people close to Gibbs. The first one is Jenny Shepard's, the second is Mike Franks', and Diane's execution is Kate Todd's.
- Downer Ending: Not only do Sergei and his men get away, Gibbs gets a call from Fornell who he must now inform that Diane is dead.
- Ironic Echo: When Diane finds Rebecca and Gibbs asleep on the couch together, she goes “Holy Fourth of July weenie roast! What the hell am I looking at?!” This is exactly what Fornell said when he found her and Mcgee asleep on the couch together back in Devil’s Trifecta.
- The Missus and the Ex: When Gibbs go to interrogate Rebecca, he is not amused to see her fiance/lawyer, who also happens to be the guy Rebecca was cheating on Gibbs with.
- Mood Whiplash: The premise of the episode is mostly Gibbs meeting two ex wives while off coffee... then Sergei Mishnev gets involved.
- Oh, Crap!: Gibbs has one when he and Diane are lured to a rooftop parking lot, just like where Kate Todd died.
- Pass the Popcorn: The rest of the team (minus Vance) decide to watch Gibbs interrogating Rebecca, with Palmer even carrying candy.
