Santo is in the treasure — so he's part of the treasure, or...?

Film watched: Santo in the Treasure of Dracula

This is the first episode to be featured on the new Kickstarter-funded Gizmoplex format. It was livestreamed for Kickstarter backers on March 4, 2022 as a beta test for the Gizmoplex and had no credits or stinger. The final completed episode was publicly released on May 6, 2022.

The Segments:

Segment 1/Invention Exchange
  • Having blown up Moon 13 to get out of the storage vault Jonah locked them in last season, Kinga and Max have moved operations to their new Moon 1 base. Instead of kissing up to network executives like her father and grandmother before her did, Kinga now plans to become her own executive and has built a new facility, the Kingadome, to house the Gizmoplex, where she can stream all manner of mind-numbing movies both old and new. Back on the Satellite of Love, it's business as usual for Jonah and the 'Bots as he shows off Crow's new blinkers.

Segment 2

  • The 'Bots imitate the movie's scientists and read from Jonah's yearbook to pressure him into blurting out embarrassing secrets from his past. Jonah plays along with it to boast his coolness until he makes a shocking confession... that's not his yearbook.

Segment 3

  • Jonah and GPC host "QVSanto", the home shopping channel providing all manner of anti-vampire jewelry for luchadores.

Post-Intermission

  • The crew goes over their earnings from the QVSanto sketch, all $40 of it.

Segment 4

  • Crow and Servo trash-talk each other as luchador wrestlers, which turns into passive-aggressive complements.

Segment 5

  • The crew wonders how Santo can be so stoic and unreactive to every supernatural thing he encounters, so they sing a song about the true star of the film: his cowardly sidekick Perico. A meteor storm wrecks the Kingadome and Kinga evacuates the Cambots inside. Faced with this setback, Kinga now has to report to one of her biggest benefactors, the mysterious Dr. Kabahl...

The Mystery Science Theater 3000 presentation of Santo in the Treasure of Dracula has examples of:

  • Ascended Meme: The livestream was delayed for several minutes due to technical difficulties, causing an image of a white dot on a black background to remain frozen on the screen. Both the fanbase and the MST3K production crew very quickly played up "White Dot" as the new breakout character of the series.
  • Big Word Shout: During the sketch in segment two, Servo repeatedly shouts "Silence!" and "Science!" at the slightest provocation.
  • Call-Back:
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Black Hood won't tolerate his gang using guns. Jonah observes, "He's evil, but he's got a code."
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: As Kinga's feed cuts out while she and Max deal with the the Kingadome getting hit by a meteorite, there's a brief shot of Dr. Kabahl.
  • Running Gag:
    • All vampires are "Draculas".
    • Everybody in the film wants to drink cognac.
  • Shout-Out:
  • We Are Experiencing Technical Difficulties: After the premiere broadcast's feed messed up, a number of improvised, mostly self-deprecating messages were displayed.
We really did test this. Please stand by.
See, what happened is... This all worked fine about an hour ago.
What might have happened... ...Is the projector broke.
Don't worry. It's not because you're all watching.
So, uhh... Anyone seeing Batman after this?
Okay, we might have a fix. Let's see if this works.
  • Who Would Be Stupid Enough?: While watching the QVSanto sketch, Kinga wonders who would be stupid enough to buy such useless junk. Max is already on the phone to order it. After Intermission Sign ends, the crew cheers at having unloaded all their junk on Max for $40.
