When He Gets Back Up

A new top rank of heroes is revealed and Endeavor has officially become the #1 Hero. He befriends the new #2 hero, Hawks, as he seems to have a plan. The League of Villains set up their new plan.

Once the Culture Festival is over, the 1-A class is visited by the Wild Wild Pussycats, now ready to get back on action with Ragdoll as their new Mission Control working in the office instead of a field hero. While there, the group talks about the new hero ranking without All Might.

As the new hero ranking comes out, Endeavor is now the #1 Hero, and is approached by the new #2: Hawks that shows a huge respect for him, for being the only one trying to reach All Might's level and proposes for them to work together, taking him to lunch. Meanwhile, Rei meets with two of her children: Fuyumi and Natsuo, who talk about Enji's ascension to the number one spot, as well as the fact that the public does not know about his atrocities as a father.

Their lunch is interrupted by the sudden attack of a new type of intelligent Nomu: High-End, much stronger than the ones prior. After a violent and intense fight, Endeavor comes out victorious, but not without many scratches. Upon High-End's defeat, Dabi shows up to attack a weakened Endeavor and Hawks, they're rescued by Mirko who makes him retreat. It's then revealed that Hawks is working as The Mole, attempting to sneak his way into the League of Villains to feed the heroes some intel.

Back home, Endeavor is greeted by three of his children: Fuyumi, Natsuo and Shoto. An attempt to start a dialogue and reunite their family again by Fuyumi goes downhill fast when Natsuo explodes against Endeavor and runs off. Shoto acknowledges Endeavor's advancements and efforts to change, but clears up what he thinks: Shoto does not forgive Endeavor, but he does want to see where he goes with it. Endeavor in turn acknowledges that, if he is ever forgiven, he has no right to ask for it and it won't come easily.

Back at U.A., Midoriya goes to bed after a hard training day, only to find himself dreaming of the battle between One For All and All For One and having visions of the past users of his quirk.

Trope

  • Arc Villain: The High-End Nomu, Hood, with Dabi as the Man Behind the Man.
  • The Atoner: Endeavor officially becomes this, having processing how much he has put his family through. Now wanting to try to make amends to his family and rise to the occasion as the new pillar of society. Results have been mixed in both accounts, but he certainly has made his competence as a hero known.
  • Badass Boast: Endeavor says for the audience to watch him as he tries to earn his place as the new #1 Hero.
  • Call-Back: Shoto mentions that he knows how one little inspiration can change a person, which refers to how Midoriya helped him change after their fight.
  • A Day in the Limelight: The arc drops the school setting and focus on Endeavor's newly found position as #1 Hero, as well as how his family is dealing with his attempts at reconnecting with them.
    • To an extent, we also take a glimpse at other Pro Heroes in Japan, including the rest of the Top 10.
  • Deuteragonist: As the arc is focused on Endeavor, the role of Deuteragonist shifts to Hawks.
  • Eye Scream: Endeavor almost loses his left eye during the fight against High-End, but manages to save it. It's later shown that he ended up with a huge scar in his face that almost mirrors Shoto's own, and Shoto himself casually mentions it.
  • Fanboy:
    • Kota has officially become one to Izuku — likely Izuku's first fan. By the time he comes back he is even wearing a pair of red sneakers, not unlike Izuku.
    • Hawks is revealed to be a long time fan of Endeavor. Even when the boy was a little kid, he had an Endeavor plush with him.
    • "Can't ya see-kun" is also a huge Endeavor fanboy finding his new look cool, being weirded out when Endeavor starts acting out of character by being nice, and of course telling the world not to give up on their new symbol.
  • Foreshadowing: Hawks stops a man inspired by reading Destro's manifesto from attacking his former employer, and the image of the book is even shown in the manga. This book becomes relevant during the Meta Liberation Army Arc, about two arcs later.
  • Heel Realization: While he has processed it for a good while, Endeavor has finally realized how much of a horrible father and husband he has been to the family, and has started to become The Atoner. Since it has taken him this long, however, he can't blame anyone for not even willing to give him a chance.
  • The Man Behind the Man: Dabi turns out to be the member of the League of Villains who send out High End in order to test out the new Nomu's abilities.
  • Memetic Mutation: In-Universe the kid who shouted during the live news coverage of High End's attack to stop broadcasting despair and asked if they can't see that Endeavor was struggling to protect the civilians became an instant meme after the incident with him earning the nickname "Can't-ya-see-kun" in reference to what he said. That particular scene with him became a trend on social media and even merchandise such as mugs and T-shirts printed with him started going around.
  • Nothing Is the Same Anymore: The Hero Rankings in Japan face a massive shift ever since All Might's retirement, and it becomes another sign of this trope. Many heroes introduced at the start of the series have made it to the Top 20, and a few move up to the Top 10. With All Might stepping down since his battle against All For One, his rival Endeavor has become the #1 Hero after years of trying to catch up, and now has the responsibility to be the kind of hero people look up to.
  • Out of Focus: Midoriya and the other students are almost completely irrelevant through the arc. Todoroki's relationship with his father gets the spotlight again, though and in chapter 192, Midoriya comes back, having a dream about the past of One For All and All For One.
  • Popularity Power: Even though Best Jeanist is missing in action since the Hideout Raid Arc, he remains in the Top 10 thanks to approval ratings. Likewise, the Wild Wild Pussycats have been inactive at that time since Ragdoll lost her Quirk, but they only dropped from #23 to #411 instead the #1000s because they have plenty of fans awaiting their return.
  • Post-Injury Desk Job: Until Ragdoll can find a way to restore her Quirk without giving All For One an advantage, she has to help her Wild Wild Pussycat allies from behind the scenes.
  • Pre-Mortem One-Liner:
Endeavor: (before hitting the High-End Nomu with one last Prominence Burn) Burn away... be at rest.
