Recap / My Gym Partners A Monkey S 2 E 22 Pranks For The Memories

Go To

Jake's title of the master of pranks, is stolen by Adam, on account of a total accident and sheer luck.

  • Angrish: Incoherent angry mumbling comes from Jake, after Adam knocks him off the pedestal.
  • Attention Whore: Jake just could not stand to be second fiddle to Adam, even if he was Prankmaster General for three years running.
  • Badass Unintentional: Adam accidentally becomes the new Prankmaster General, when he trips on a tree root, knocks over Mrs. Tusk, while she's carrying a barrel of cooking oil, spilling the cooking oil all over the floor, just as a herd of teachers are exiting the lounge, causing them all to slide across the floor, slam into a tree, causing a flock of horrified bird students to leave in a hurry, as well as making the leaves fall of, and cover them in leaves, making them look like total idiots.
  • Brick Joke: At the end of the episode, the iris out, focused on the "Jake Stinks" billboard, just before closing.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Adam and Jake were both punished for the school-destroying prank, that only Jake was involved with. Oh, and Adam continues to accidentally cause mayhem and chaos throughout the rest of the episode.
  • Failure Montage: A montage followed Jake, attempting to pull of a show-stopping prank, only for it to either turn out being good, or for Adam to waltz in and unintentionally do something worse.
  • How the Mighty Have Fallen: Even if we ignore Adam stealing his place, Jake seemed to have been destined for failure anyway. Comparing his scrapbook memory pranks, to the pranks he tried pulling off this year, (sans the last one), there proves to be a clear decline in the quality of Jake's pranks, with most of them being tired cliches such as TPing the school and placing whoopee cushions.
  • Naked People Trapped Outside: Jake's final prank on Adam, was stealing his clothes, while he was in the shower, and forcing him to run around the halls, naked, before finally deconstructing the school, breaking down all the walls, exposing his nakedness to the outside world, much to the delight of his classmates.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Jake desperately tried to win his title as Prankmaster General back, but all his attempted pranks ended up backfiring, as they were taken as kind gestures by their intended victims.
  • Noodle Incident: Jake has apparently pulled a series of hilarious pranks in the past few years. However, the mention of those pranks are merely glossed over and we get little to no insight on how they played out.
  • Not Allowed to Grow Up: Jake had been the school prankster for three years.
  • Overly Long Gag: When Jake asks Adam to guess who the Prankmaster General is, Adam guesses every single other student in the entire school, before even starting to consider it being Jake.
Adam: Um, ... is it Harry Hyena?
    Jake: No!
    Adam: Slips?
    Jake: No!
Slips: Is it Adam? It's totally Adam, isn't it?
    Jake: No!
  • Pie in the Face: Adam's second prank, was tripping on that same damn tree root, and hurling the pie he suddenly had, into Principal Pixiefrog's face.
  • Real Men Wear Pink: Jake's memory book of previous pranks is a fuzzy, pink, girly scrapbook with hearts on it, wrapped up in a neat little bow.
    Slips: Ooh, frilly.
  • Recurring Extra: Adam and Jake acknowledge the existence of a minor, background character.
    Adam: Is it Eddie?
    Jake: No-Wait, who's Eddie?
Adam: That panther kid, with the headgear.
    Jake: No!
  • Signs of Disrepair: Jake vandalized the school billboard to make it say "Jake Thinks School Stinks", but Adam bumped into the ladder he was on, while passing by, making letters fall of, so it instead said "Jake Stinks".
  • Spotlight-Stealing Squad: Adam steals Jake's thunder as Prankmaster General on accident ... twice. Plus a third time ... and a fourth ... and a fi-remember every one of these times is totally on accident.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: Adam sees a surge in popularity for his supposed pranks, much to Jake's annoyance. Even Adam getting punished for the final prank has a major upside for him, as he let Jake share the Prankmaster General title knowing full well that Principal Pixiefrog would punish whoever holds the title with having to rebuild the school. Adam certainly wasn't going to do all that hard work by himself.
  • Toilet Paper Prank: Jake's totally original idea for this year's prank. At least that's what he planned on. It was when he told Adam beforehand, that Adam noted that he might be losing his edge.
  • Voiceover Letter: Adam read a note from Jake, and this played. turns out, Jake was standing right behind him, reading this note out loud.
  • Whoopee Cushion: Another one of Jake's never-been-done-before pranks.
