Adam and Jake discover that Mr. Hornbill, one of their teachers (who also happens to be a rhinoceros), has a crush on the school lunchlady, Mrs. Tusk (who's an elephant). He blackmails them into helping him ask her out on a date.

  • Abhorrent Admirer: Mr. Hornbill to Mrs. Tusk.
    • A minor example, but to a larger extent The Pretties to Adam.
  • Attractiveness Isolation: This was Mr. Hornbill's biggest qualm here.
  • Cowardly Lion: Mr. Hornbill, when it comes to asking out Mrs. Tusk.
  • Despair Speech: Mr. Hornbill makes a few of these, whenever he fails at impressing Mrs. Tusk.
  • Did Not Get the Girl: Mr. Hornbill doesn’t end up with Mrs. Tusk since she’s already married.
  • Extreme Doormat: Mr. Hornbill becomes an extreme speed bump, with Mrs. Tusk driving over him with her car.
Mr. Hornbill: On the road of Mrs. Tusk's life, I am but a minor speed bump.
  • Failed a Spot Check: Mr. Hornbill didn't know Mrs. Tusk was married because she doesn't wear a wedding ring. However, the fact that she's adressed with Mrs. Instead of Miss should be enough of a clue.
  • Given Name Reveal: Mrs. Tusk's first name is revealed to be "Eugenia" while Mr. Hornbill's first name is revealed to be "Cyrus" (and his middle name is revealed to start with a "Q").
  • Interspecies Romance: Mr. Hornbill (a rhinoceros) is in love with Mrs. Tusk (who's an elephant).
  • Literal-Minded: When Adam tells him that his book report "won't write itself", Jake takes that as a challenge and orders the report to write itself.
  • Mating Dance: One of the things that Adam and Jake do to help Mr. Hornbill attract Mrs. Tusk is having him perform one of these—while Jake dresses up like Mrs. Tusk to help their teacher practice, Adam tries teaching Mr. Hornbill a really silly hoedown-style dance. While it doesn't help Mr. Hornbill attract Mrs. Tusk, it does attract the Pretties to Adam.
  • Mysterious Middle Initial: While we don't learn what it stands for, Mr. Hornbill's middle initial is "Q."
  • Pro Wrestling Episode: The turning point of the plot is a match between Mr. Hornbill and Principal Pixiefrog (who Mrs. Tusk refers to as the school's "alpha male").
  • Road Apples: Mr. Hornbill tries to woo Mrs. Tusk with a "rhino pie"; it fails horribly. Jake's closing line suggests that he tasted some of it (with whipped cream).
  • Secret Diary: Mr. Hornbill has one, where he details his crush on Mrs. Tusk.
  • Stating the Simple Solution: After Adam informs Windsor the Gorilla of Mr. Hornbill's situation, the first thing Windsor suggests is that Mr. Hornbill just try the direct approach for his situation with Mrs. Tusk.
  • Sucks at Dancing: Mr. Hornbill.
  • The Talk: Adam and Jake read a book on animal mating rituals, and naturally, were disgusted by the content.
  • Truth in Television: As noted via the book of animal mating rituals that Adam and Jake read to help Mr. Hornbill impress Mrs. Tusk —
    • 1.) In some species, males will perform a Mating Dance as a way to attract females. This is especially true for many species of birds because, in their case, the males tend to have more vibrant/colorful appearances and performing a mating dance helps to show off their appearances.
    • 2.) Some animals will give gifts as a way attract mates—for example, Adelie and Gentoo penguins are known to give pebbles as gifts to potential mates.
    • 3.) Many animals are known to fight each other for mates—after Adam explains the situation to Windsor, the gorilla that for his species, males are known to fight each other not just to compete for mates, but also do it as way of showing off how strong they are to female gorillas.
    • 4.) Adam and Jake's final attempt is "the tried-and-true method of putting the male and female in isolation. Inevitably, something is bound to happen."
  • Wedding Ring Defense: Parodied—to go into greater detail:
    • After being forced into the storage closet by Adam and Jake, Mrs. Tusk learns the reasoning behind Mr. Hornbill's actions towards her throughout the episode. Mrs. Tusk (though ultimately flattered by it) explains that it was all unnecessary and says that elephants prefer the direct approach when it comes to romance—hearing this, Mr. Hornbill then just asks Mrs. Tusk out on date.
    • Mrs. Tusk turns him down and explains that she's married—when Mr. Hornbill questions her on why she doesn't wear a wedding ring, Mrs. Tusk points out the obvious: her giant elephant hands prevent from being able to do so.
  • The Worf Effect: To prove how tough he is, Mr. Hornbill tried taking out Principal Pixiefrog (the most powerful man in the whole school) in a wrestling match, but Pixiefrog manages to beat him within 30(ish) seconds. This is lampshaded by Adam and Jake.
