Tropes
- Alien Arts Are Appreciated: Bluestreak mentions a fondness for Shallow Grave during the "crewditions".
- Blessed with Suck: Megatron's body is riddled with space bridge portals, meaning punching him is a bad idea. Whirl learns this out firsthand.
- Call-Back:
- The events of Chaos Theory get a mention, Rung being the cause of Megatron's arrest, Whirl's beating
- Rodimus manages to sum up the major events of the previous season in ten words.
- Chekhov's Gunman: This mysterious "Terminus" Megatron mentioned.
- Flipping the Table: Prowl's habit of doing this is mockingly referenced by Rodimus when he's saying goodbye to everyone.Rodimus: Remember, Prowl, if you get cross, it's not the table's fault.
- Foreshadowing: When Whirl attacks Megatron, he's using a bow. Remember which member of the Lost Light crew is fond of archery?
- Good Colors, Evil Colors: The idea is parodied by Brainstorm and Nautica discussing Brainy's Colour Coded Lasers.Nautica: I think an intuitive weapon to promote long-discredited notions of moral absolutism is problematic in the extreme.
- Hikkikomori: Chromedome's become a shut-in since Dark Cybertron, just listening to Rewind's last message of a continuous loop. Ouch.
- Insistent Terminology: During the flashback, Starscream is incapable of going a sentence without mentioning "his" people.
- Irony: As Megatron and Rung are talking, Rung assures Megatron no-one is listening. Ravage is hiding under his desk.
- Lame Pun Reaction: When the Pyrobots come up in conversation, Brainstorm remarks that they must be "firey". Nautica proceeds to kill the joke utterly.
- Leave Him to Me!: Megatron claims he demanded no Decepticon kill Whirl, which is why he's survived all the way to the end of the war.
- Meaningful Background Event: As Nightbeat and Skids try to talk to Chromedome, letters from a sign behind them disappear between panels.
- My God, What Have I Done?: Megatron, while talking with Rung.Megatron: I was going to change the world.Rung: You did.Megatron: I suppose so. But not for the better.
- Parody Sue: Thunderclash gets a mention. Optimus manages to figure out Rodimus is talking about him without even being given a name.
- Reformed, but Rejected: This issue firmly establishes Megatron's status as this. When returning to his quarters in the Lost Light, he finds graffiti on the wall denouncing him as a murder whose time is marked. He is subsequently attacked by Whirl.
- Spotting the Thread: Parodied when Nightbeat bursts into Swerve's auditions, and points out that they're obviously fraudulent... using the fact that Swerve was using the word "crewditions".
- Team Mom: Optimus, of all people, comes across as one during the flashback.Optimus: Prowl, what did we say about the muttering?
- Wham Line: "We think it's a coffin."
