The special that started it all: this documents Frankie's first school week as a monster teen (and first week ever), all spent at Monster High. It formally introduces

Tropes:
- An Aesop: Along with Be Yourself, there's also "don't believe everything you read".
- Be Yourself: Central message of the film, which sets it up for the franchise.
- Continuity Cameo: The lab rats from the Harrison books make an appearance, still covered in glitter.
- Early-Installment Weirdness: Enough that this is no longer canon to Gen I, most of its important points retold within season one of the webisodes. The lab rats from the books get a Continuity Cameo, Lagoona is apparently a cheerleader, zombies can speak English (which isn't seen again until Generation II, being a hard series reboot), Heath already goes to Monster High instead of transferring in later, the Dawn of the Dance dresses show up even though they're dug up from Draculaura's closet in season three, and Draculaura mentions having two parents when her mom's been dead for centuries.
- Group Picture Ending: The special ends with Frankie and her ghoul friends onstage getting their picture taken for the fearbook.
- Imagine Spot: Frankie has one of these, where she gets to sing to a crowd—at the time, this is the dream-her.
- Love Triangle: Deuce, Cleo, Frankie. Subverted, in that Frankie didn't really want Deuce.
- Lucky Charms Title: Want to be Hip and Cool with the youth? Just replace words with characters!note If you're wondering, it's read as New Ghoul At School.
- No Celebrities Were Harmed: Justin Biter concert, anyone? Said character doesn't really bear a resemblance to him, though.
- Storybook Opening: Done in the style of a Monster High fearbook.
