- Ascended Extra: Jack, the janitor who delivered dummies to Chris and Ian in "Dummy Demolition", is properly introduced in this episode and becomes a main character afterwards.
- Blob Monster: Michael accidentally gets turned into one.
- Continuity Nod: In a flashback, Chris says he'd look like a goobwaah if he asked people for their names after being introduced to them, which was a word he made up in "Making Up Words".
- Hands Looking Wrong: After Jack accidentally spills some of Michael's formula on his hand, he tells him to look at his hand and he sees that it's turned green before he transforms.
- Medium Blending: LEGO Stop Motion as usual + claymation for the Blob Monster.
- Set Right What Once Went Wrong: Chris attempts to use the time machine to fix a mistake he made with a girl he liked, but as Ian tries to stop him, they end up breaking the time machine.
- Swallowed Whole: Chris, Ian, and Jack get swallowed by a green Blob Monster.
- Tell Me Again: The very first line:Ian: So this formula will really make cats smell like cinnamon?
