Recap / Mickey Mouse S3 E14 "Turkish Delights"

Go To

"Turkish Delights" is the fourteenth season 3 short of the new Mickey Mouse (2013) series created by Paul Rudish for the Disney Channel and Disney.com. It's the 51st to air on the Disney Channel and put up on Disney.com.

Mickey is trying to sell Turkish Delights in Istanbul's famed Grand Bazaar, but two merchants, Donald and Goofy, are not happy with him stealing their business and try to get him out.

This is another episode where no English is spoken; the few words that Mickey, Donald and Goofy say are all in Turkish.

This short was temporarily removed from the Mickey Mouse/Disney Shorts channel for unknown reasons, but has since been restored.

Tropes:

  • Adaptational Villainy: Even if it doesn't stay that way at the end, Goofy ends up being one of Mickey's primary antagonists this episode, alongside Donald. While him being a jerk wasn't entirely unprecedented, this is the first of the Rudish shorts in which Goofy actively antagonizes Mickey.
  • Shout-Out: One to Tetris with Mickey assembling a boatload of various shapes with the Turkish Delights.
  • Start My Own: After being kicked out of the bazaar one too many times, Mickey decides to build his own bazaar out of his Turkish Delights.
  • Toilet Humour: At one point, Mickey tries to bait Goofy into buying some of his Turkish Delights by herding some sheep that poop a trail of Turkish Delights. Goofy sniffs one before eating it to make sure it's good to ingest.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: At the end of the short, Donald and Goofy tried to sneak into Mickey's bazaar, but the former two were halted, but moments later, the latter invites them inside and Donald and Goofy got to help Mickey sell some Turkish Delights.
