Margaret is newly divorced and comes up with a way to speed up triage. She invites a general to observe, and he misunderstands her intentions. Radar is taken by a new nurse and tries everything he knows, and then some, to get her attention.
Attention, all personnel! Maj. Houlihan has requested that the following tropes be in order before the general's arrival:
- Be Yourself: Radar needs to be taught this lesson again when it comes to trying to ask a nurse he's fallen for out. She outright tells him to stop trying to impress her because she already likes him as he is.
- Character Development: The general expects Margaret to have reverted back to her old ways after her divorce is finalized. She quickly shoots him down, turning down both a promotion and a position in Tokyo, to maintain her dignity.
- Dirty Old Man: The general is all but propositioning Margaret to become his mistress in Tokyo.
- Distinction Without a Difference: After Hawkeye asks Col. Potter if he's limping, Potter says, "Nonsense! I'm just favoring one leg over the other!"
- So Proud of You: When Hawkeye sees Radar and his date enter the Officer's Club, he raises his bottle in toast to Radar's success in finally asking her out.
- Won't Take "Yes" for an Answer: Radar immediately apologizes to the nurse and starts leaving when he thinks she's rejecting him. Fortunately he realizes that no, she wants to go out with him, before he leaves.
- You Didn't Ask: When Radar finally just asks out the nurse he's been trying to impress and she immediately says yes, he asks why she didn't say so before, and she replies with this trope. Justified, in that most of what Radar does wouldn't be viewed as flirting or romantic by any reasonable person.
