General Tropes:
- Accidental Kiss: Jenni accidentally kisses Martin on the cheek when they collide, and he spends the entire episode trying to keep the kiss mark safe, only to get erased while escaping the mine.
- Acid Attack: The queen's acid spit.
- Big Creepy-Crawlies: The alien insects are far larger than normal ones, and the queen's size is comparable to a T-Rex.
- Damsel in Distress: Diana is taken by the giant insects, and it also happens to Sadie later in the episode.
- Fossil Revival: The radioactive meteor reanimates the insects and mutates them after being fossilized for millions of years.
- Hollywood Acid: The queen spews acid that's capable of melting steel and even rock.
- Hoist by His Own Petard: Martin uses the queen's own acid spew against her by making her dissolve the meteor that grants her power, reducing her to a tiny and manageable size.
- Strange Minds Think Alike: Sadie says the exact same thing Jenny did when asked by Martin on a date; that they would rather have their teeth removed than dating him.
- Would Rather Suffer: Both Jenny and Sadie tell Martin (separately) that they would rather get their teeth removed rather than date him.
