Go To

Al.... with Kelly is an episode from Season 5 of Married... with Children.

Al and Kelly get an opportunity to have the house all to themselves and avoid a trip to Peggy's mother's place for the next two weeks. However, Kelly soon gets sick and Al (who is busy having sexual fantasies about two blondes who fight over him) has to take care of her.

Tropes

  • Annoying Patient: Kelly, who alternates between being too sick to do basic things (like buy bread or use the phone) and well enough to do other things (like jam out to music videos).
  • Bottle Episode: The episode takes place in two rooms of the house (Al's bedroom and the living room) and only has a handful of characters: Al, Kelly, the two blondes Al dreams about, the pizza delivery guy who gets kicked out by Al, and the demented nurse at the end (Peg and Bud are in the episode, but they have a brief appearance in the beginning).
  • Cat Fight: In one of Al's fantasies, one of his lovers catches him with another. He suggests that they fight over him while he takes pictures and they readily agree.
  • Downer Ending: Al after spending a miserable 5 to 6 days nursing Kelly gets sick in the end and Kelly refuses to return the favor to him leaving him sick, hungry, and trapped in a realistic dream where a demented, redheaded nurse is about to give him an enema.
  • Irony: Kelly ringing the bell disturbs all of Al's sexy fantasies. He finally gets fed up and smashes it. By the end of the episode, he's trapped in a nightmare and actually begging "Somebody ring the bell!"
  • "It" Is Dehumanizing: Al refers to "that red beast" who ruined his dreams and turned his life after scoring four touchdowns in one football game and gave him two new children to feed as just simply "it".
  • Jerkass Ball: Kelly has a firm grasp on it throughout the episode. First, she makes Al go out in a downpour for bread, only to call for pizza and share none of it with him. Then, she pulls out the bell that Peg once used to fool Al into thinking there was food on the table and laughs at the memory of how sad he was there wasn't. She also continuously annoys/awakens him by ringing it for stupid reasons and lastly, she gets Al sick by sneezing in his face.
  • Moment Killer: Everytime Al's about to get lucky in one of his dreams, Kelly rings the bell and wakes him, interrupting. In a cruel irony, because he finally smashes the bell and Kelly has left, he ends the episode trapped in a nightmare.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Both of Al's dream girls and blonde, willing beauties (and one is played by a virtually unknown Pamela Anderson).
  • Papa Wolf: Al looks legitimately angry upon seeing the underage Kelly about to drink a beer and later literally throws out yet another one of her loser dates.
  • Sick Episode: Kelly (and then Al) both get sick after having faked it to get out of visiting Peggy's mother's.
  • This Is My Story: Kelly can't sleep, so she begs Al for a bedtime story. Al at first refuses as he himself is very tired and has little energy, but as Kelly keeps whining, Al gives in and tells him his life story while keeping incognito.
Al: (as Kelly is resting on him) Once upon a time, there was a man who sold shoes. He was a good man, but somehow, good things never came to him. Did I mention he was a great athlete in high school? People cheered him. That was before the.... red thing appeared. Darkness fell on shoe town. Who would take on the red beast? Who would battle? Who would marry it? The little shoe man stepped forward. Or perhaps the others just stepped back. At any rate, an unholy union was born. So were two unholy children. (glares back at Kelly) And the lonely shoeman, who had once been a mighty athlete in high school scored four touchdowns in one game and had many offers for junior colleges and could have made something in his life.... laid down and died. The end. (falls asleep next to Kelly)
  • A Threesome Is Hot: In one of Al's fantasies, two of his scantily-clad lovers are fighting over him, but pout that it's no fun unless he joins them. He leaps onto the bed. . . and they fade away as Kelly wakes him up.
