Recap / Lilo & Stitch: The Series S2 E17 "Phoon"

Go To

"Phoon" is the fifty-sixth episode of Lilo & Stitch: The Series. It first aired on August 24, 2005.

When Lilo decides to enroll herself in a preppy school to impress some trendy rich girls, Stitch, Jumba, and Pleakley hunt for an experiment that creates typhoon force winds.

Experiments who appeared or were mentioned in this episode:

  • Phoon (X-540): This episode's Monster of the Week: A red, green-eyed, round elephant-like experiment who is designed to blow powerful, devastating winds. She was later mutated by Jumba using a device he made that was intended to incapacitate her, making her bigger and more powerful.
  • Reuben (X-625)

  • Art Shift: When Lilo/"Amber" and the Hip-Hop Fusion Hula girls begin walking to Kokaua Town after Stitch/"Wenceslaus" tells her about Phoon causing trouble at the halau, the background suddenly changes from the franchise's famous watercolor backgrounds to a much plainer, flatter background of some bushes, palm trees, a perfectly clear sky, and the gated community's walls. It only lasts for a moment until a screen wipe brings back the regular watercolor backgrounds.
  • Be Yourself: Lilo comes to learn that despite her wanting to join the other hula school, she prefers her former identity as the girl who hunts for experiments and finds their "one true place".
  • Make My Monster Grow: Jumba's invention that was meant to incapacitate Phoon instead causes her to grow and mutate into a Kaiju-like giant.
  • Million to One Chance: Jumba states in this episode that the Plasmatic Englobulatron has "76.3% chance will instantly capture experiment, 23.5% chance will destroy entire planet with big boom." When it was finally used on Phoon, she instead mutates and grows. As Jumba says in response, "This was other 0.2% chance."
