Go To

When Sara realizes Bishop's plan, Ava convinces Sara to allow the Legends to make exception to the rules to help fight back. Behrad comes up with an interesting plan, that allows Sara to connect with an old friend. Meanwhile, amidst battle Sara and Ava make an important decision but need the help of the team to pull it off.

Tropes:

  • Acquired Poison Immunity: Mick himself handwaves his survival from Bishop's booby trap from his years of pyromania.
  • Adam and Eve Plot: Sara realizes that Bishop adjusted his plans so that he and Sara would be the last people on Earth.
  • Alien Invasion: The Zaguron invasion.
  • Altar the Speed: Sara proposes that she and Ava have their wedding right there in 1925 Texas, since they aren't sure if they'll survive the Zaguron invasion.
  • Anguished Outburst: Zari is none too pleased to see that John resurrected himself after all the crap he pulled shortly beforehand. He's able to talk her down, though, and her anger gives way to sadness completely.
  • Arc Words: "We are all connected."
  • Back from the Dead: Constantine, having sold his soul to a demon in Hell.
  • Battle Couple: Sara and Ava.
  • The Big Damn Kiss: But of course Ava and Sara get one.
  • Bottle Episode: Of a sort. Except for a brief scene at past Bishops's lab (which is simply a redressed Waverider set), the entire episode takes place either on the Waverider or at Spooner's old house.
  • Bouquet Toss: Slightly downplayed. Sara grabs some random flowers from a pot and hands them to Mick, telling him that he just caught the bride's bouquet.
  • The Bus Came Back: Behrad comes back to the team. Doubles as Back for the Finale.
  • But Now I Must Go:
    • Mick decides to leave the Legends to be a proper father to his Necrian children.
    • After being resurrected, Constantine ultimately leaves the Legends to walk another path.
  • Call-Back:
    • Zari is still really, really pissed at John for what happened the last few episodes. She also recalls John warning that they'd screw it up.
    • Behrad becomes infected with the same poison Sara had earlier in the season. Knowing there is no antidote, Sara is ready to cut his arm with an axe to stop the spread.
    • Spooner's ability to transfer meta abilities shows up again.
  • Chekhov's Gun: As a parting gift, John gives Zari an ancient key, telling her that she will figure out on her own what it does.
  • Cliffhanger: The gang is about to leave 1925, but they end up stranded in 1925 Texas when the Waverider is destroyed... by another Waverider!
  • Common Law Marriage: The Legends obviously don't have time to actually set up a legal wedding...
  • Continuity Nod:
    • Ava and Sara mention the latter's initial marriage proposal many times. Their first meeting is also recalled.
    • Constantine references the last time he sold his soul to a demon.
    • At the end of the episode, Sara and Mick reminiscence about how their Season 1 selves would react to their current selves.
    • Nate and Ava travel to Vancouver in 2213 to find young Bishop working on a model of Ava Prime.
  • Continuity Snarl: Bordering on a Running Gag with Legends finales. The Fountain of Imperium being revived and staying on Earth is supposed to protect Earth from aliens. Even if one assumes Invasion was retconned out by Crisis, that still leaves all the aliens in both Supergirl and Superman & Lois that should have been taken care of, including the Kryptonians themselves.
  • Crazy Enough to Work: Nate theorizes that Bishop wasn't always a monster and that his younger self would be able to reverse-engineer his older self's poison to create an antidote. It works.
  • Deal with the Devil: John sells out his soul again to come back to life.
  • Didn't See That Coming: Since Bishop knows exactly how Sara thinks, Nate proposes the Legends to do the opposite and grab Bishop's younger self to help. When Present!Bishop shows up and finds out what they did, he's actually caught by surprise.
  • Easily Thwarted Alien Invasion: Inverted, then played straight. The Legends gear up, ready to destroy the dozen or so Zagurons advancing on them. Then, about a hundred of them appear from the clearing and the Legends realize they are way out of their league and spend the rest of the episode barricading themselves inside the house. Then, the Fountain is revived and destroys the Zaguron army instantly.
  • Eaten Alive: Bishop's eventual fate, at the hands of Mick's and Kayla's kids.
  • Ethereal White Dress: When John appears in Sara's vision, he's clad entirely in white clothing, including his hair and trenchcoat.
  • Evil Gloating: Bishop leaves behind a gloating video message.
  • Face Death with Dignity: When it seems clear they're all about to die, the Legends decide to huddle around Ava and Sara so they can complete their wedding.
  • Flash Step: An ability of the Zagurons, allowing them to more easily overwhelm the Legends.
  • Future Me Scares Me: Young Bishop is mortified at the monster he becomes in the future. While he wants to never become like that, the Legends have no choice but to erase his memory and ensure he goes on that path anyway to preserve the timeline.
  • Give Away the Bride: Ava asks Gary if he'll walk her down the aisle. The latter is overjoyed.
  • Head Pet: One Necrian baby comfortably roosts on its father's head.
  • Hold the Line:
    • Nate when the Legends see the Zagurons have landed and are waiting for nightfall to attack. It only works for a short time before they are overwhelmed.
    • Later pulled by Kayla so the Legends can finish the wedding ceremony. Fortunately, that was all that was needed to get the Fountain back to full power.
  • I Choose to Stay: After Mick convinces her, Kayla finally decides to stay and help the Legends against the Zagurons.
  • I Hate Past Me: Similar to Future Me Scares Me above, Bishop is outright embarrassed by his young self.
  • Immediate Sequel: Picks up right after the last episode, with Mick being thrown back by the explosion on the Waverider.
  • Insufferable Genius: While young Bishop isn't a villain yet, he sure already has a big ego.
  • It's All My Fault: Behrad blames himself for not noticing John's addiction properly.
  • Karmic Death: Bishop is Eaten Alive by Mick and Kayla's freshly hatched Necrian children, one episode after nearly blowing them to smithereens.
  • Kick the Dog: Bishop interrupts the wedding ceremony to indulge in more Evil Gloating at the Legends.
  • Kick The Son Of A Bitch: The Necrian babies didn't likely realize that Bishop was the one who nearly murdered them, but only ate him because it was the first thing they saw after hatching, as Gary points out.
  • Killer Rabbit: The Necrian brood are adorable... and the first thing they do is swarm Bishop and eat him alive.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: Unfortunately for young Bishop, the Legends are forced to mindwipe him to ensure that the timeline stays intact, despite his vow to never become like his future self.
  • Last Wish Marriage: Facing certain death, Sara decides to go forward with the wedding before everyone is slaughtered.
  • Life-or-Limb Decision: Behrad becomes infected with the same poison that killed Sara's original body. Sara prepares to chop Behrad's hand off, reasoning that it's the only way to save him. Luckily, Spooner arrives to transfer Sara's healing ability into Behrad, saving his hand.
  • Made of Iron: Mick survives a point-blank explosion with, at best, minor injuries.
  • Marry for Love: Sara and Ava again.
  • Mushroom Samba: Behrad, and later Sara, eat the Fountain Mushroom and communicate with John. The rest of the gang is weirded out.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: John once more reaffirms his horror about what his deeds have unleashed.
  • My Greatest Second Chance:
    • Mick wants to be a better father to his Necrian children than he was to Lita.
    • Spooner also insists to her mother to get to safety, as she doesn't plan on losing her again.
  • Negated Moment of Awesome: The Legends make their stand as the alien pods start opening up, but then they realize that there are just too many Zagurons for them to handle and they immediately retreat into the house.
  • Nice Guy: The past version of Bishop does appear to be a genuinely good person (albeit still a bit insufferable), the polar opposite of what he eventually becomes.
  • No Body Left Behind: Mick's and Kayla's kids eat Bishop up whole.
  • Oh, No... Not Again!: Gideon's reaction when she finally comes back online, only to be immediately knocked off by a pre-recorded message from Bishop.
  • Post-Climax Confrontation: After the Zaguron horde is finished off, Bishop tries to finish the Legends off himself armed with only a gun. The Necrian hatchlings have other ideas.
  • Powers as Programs: Spooner's ability allows her to temporarily transfer abilities between people, such as Sara's healing power into Behrad or Nate's Steel ability into Ava.
  • The Power of Love: After Ava and Sara finish their vows, a powerful wave of energy obliterates all of the Zagurons.
  • Put on a Bus:
    • Dominic Purcell departs here, leaving Caity Lotz and Amy Pemberton as the final original cast members.
    • Kayla also departs, presumably to raise the kids with Mick.
    • Constantine leaves the Legends to find his own path. However, his actor Matt Ryan has been confirmed to play a new character next season.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Kayla plans to steal the Waverider with her kids before the Zaguron invasion hits. Mick convinces her otherwise.
  • Season Finale: Of Season 6.
  • Sequel Hook: The Waverider is destroyed, and Constantine gives Zari a key to something.
  • She Cleans Up Nicely: Kayla really looks smashing in a dress.
  • Shout-Out: Constantine, as a mushroom, beckons for Sara to eat him.
  • Smart Bomb: Resurrecting the Fountain results in a powerful explosion that disintegrated all the hostile aliens in the surroundings.
  • Speak Now or Forever Hold Your Peace: Subverted. Bishop arrives before Nate can officially close the ceremony.
  • Tempting Fate:
    • Kayla proudly boasts that even if the Waverider is down, she still has her time-ship, which is then hijacked by Bishop shortly after.
    • Ava notes that it's unusual for a storyline of theirs to end on a happy note. Cue the Waverider being destroyed by another Waverider.
  • Trailers Always Spoil: The trailer shows that both Spooner and Mick Rory have survived, following the Uncertain Doom at the end of the previous episode.
  • Villain Ball: Instead of staying in Kayla's ship and killing the Legends with the ship's weaponry, Bishop simply walks up with his rifle and rants long enough for Mick's babies to hatch.
  • Villainous Breakdown: After the Zaguron invasion is thwarted, Bishop plans on killing the entire world population single-handedly.
Bishop: Stupid Zegs and their stupid mushroom allergy. Well, if you want something done right, you gotta do it your damn self.
Sara Lance: Give it up, Bishop. You lost.
    Bishop: Never!
Sara Lance: I'll give you one last chance to leave and never come back. I found your younger self once, and I'll do it again, end you before you become the sad, little, deranged man you are now.
Bishop: I will blast each and every human on this stupid planet to bits, starting with all of you. I don't care how long it takes. You and I will be the only two left.
  • Wedding Finale: Sara and Ava finally get married in the finale of Season 6.
  • Wham Shot: At the end of the episode, the Waverider is blown up by what appears to be another version of the Waverider.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: The Cruz house isn't that far from town, but not a line is uttered about whether the rest of the town noticed the aliens or if the rest of the horde had some snacks on the way to hunt the Legends.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Gary gives Ava a much-needed pep talk when she struggles to write her vows.
  • You Wouldn't Shoot Me: Mick correctly calls Kayla out when she threatens to kill him as he tries to stop her from jumping ship with the Waverider.
