Recap / Learning How to Be a Princess Chapter 13 "Luz's Moving Hassel: Part 1"

Go To

With her parents gone for the weekend, Luz decides to setup a moonlight conjuring with her friends.

Tropes That Appear In This Chapter:

  • Felony Misdemeanor: Rumor has it that Belos had a Wild Witch fed to Sewer Gators for pulling pranks on one of his guards.
  • For Want Of A Nail:
    • In this version, Luz manages to convince Amity to join her during the Moonlight Conjuring.
    • While Eda still forbids her from performing the conjuring at the Owl House, here Luz has the castle to herself with her parents away, so she decides to do it there instead of using the Owl House behind Eda's back.
  • Homosexual Reproduction: Willow looks on the memory for her family situation in last chapter's Lotus-Eater Machine with confusion, as it depicted her dads as adopting her. On the Boiling Isles, same-sex couples use magic to create a child, with this being how Willow was conceived.
  • Older Than They Look: King is actually 75 years-old, though by demon standards he's still considered to be a child.
  • Secret-Keeper: It turns out that Willow and Gus remember Luz telling them that she's a princess in the last chapter and put two-and-two together, agreeing to keep their friend's secret.
  • Warning Mistaken for Threat: When Willow and Gus reveal that they know Luz is a princess, she suddenly becomes uncharacteristically serious and cold, demanding that they be quiet and forcibly dragging them to a secluded area. Due to how she's acting (and considering who her dad is), they assume she's planning to murder them. When a terrified Gus begs for mercy, Luz explains that she just wanted them to be quiet, as yelling government secrets in the middle of a marketplace is a bad idea.
  • What Have You Done for Me Lately?: Zul tries brushing off the last chapter as being "a long time ago" to try and downplay what happened, wanting Luz to free them from her mirror. Luz points out that it was only last week.
