Recap / Lazy Town S 2 E 14 The Lazy Genie

Go To

While trying to figure out a way to grant his own wishes, Robbie mail-orders the Genie of Everlasting Eternity. Upon freeing him from his teapot prison, Robbie is granted three wishes as a reward. His first two wishes are to get rid of all the sportscandy and sports equipment, but when those don't work out as intended he hits on a simpler solution—get rid of Sportacus!

Unfortunately for Robbie, Sportacus can't stay still long enough to be zapped away, and the frustrated genie makes Robbie disappear by accident. When Sportacus is able to save the lamp from breaking, he's granted a wish too. Sportacus gives the wish to Stingy, who uses it to bring Robbie back, as while he's a pain, he's their pain.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Do Not Taunt Cthulhu: Robbie spends most of the episode complaining to the genie. The djinn eventually loses his temper and, after accidentally zapping Robbie away, refuses to bring him back. It takes Stingy using a wish to do it.
  • Exact Words: Robbie wishes for the SportsCandy and sports equipment to disappear. It later re-appears, since Robbie didn't say that he wanted it to disappear "forever".
  • Pet the Dog: Stingy—Stingy, he of "The Mine Song"—is given the opportunity to wish for literally anything he wants at the end of the episode. Without a moment's hesitation, he wishes for the genie to bring Robbie Rotten back.
  • Save the Villain: Robbie is rescued from being erased from existence.
  • We Want Our Jerk Back!: Said almost word-for-word by Stingy when he uses his genie wish to restore Robbie. "He's OUR pain in the neck!"
