A kidnapped little girl, Bailey Shaw, is found in the trunk of abandoned car and all SVU has to go on is the "Big Bird" yellow of her abductors clothes. Upon learning that the girl was adopted by a gay couple after a surrogacy arrangement, they manage to track down the kidnapper, Emerson Mauer, and uncover that the perp may not be who he claims to be and that his mother may have been hiding something herself...
- Baby Be Mine: Rowan Mauer kidnapped Kevin Brown to replace her deceased son Emerson, though Kevin was 6, not an infant.
- Bittersweet Ending: Bailey is found and returned to her fathers, Rowan is given 20 years in prison for Kevin's abduction, and the DA will cut Kevin a deal that includes counseling due to the revelations about his abduction providing mitigating circumstances for his actions. However, Kevin refuses to accept the truth, leading to his older sister Diane walking out of his life after realizing that the little brother she knew is long gone.
- That Man Is Dead: Why Diane chooses not reconnect with Kevin, feeling he's no longer the brother she lost 17 years ago.
