Benson's newly awarded custody of Baby Boy Doe (now named Noah Porter-Benson) is jeopardized when Amaro (now working as a beat cop in Queens after the events of last season) arrests an underage prostitute, Luna Garcia, who turns out to be a material witness to the murder of Ellie Porter. Amaro is asked to undercover to flush out the rest of the prostitution ring, but the fallout results in a series of murders that threatens Noah's safety as well. Meanwhile, Dominick Carisi (Peter Scanavino) fills in for Amaro.

Tropes:

  • Continuity Nod: After last season's fight that nearly cost him his shield, Amaro has been relegated to traffic duty with a new rookie partner.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: When a prison sentence doesn't make Selena Cruz cooperative, SVU use her son as leverage.
    • Angel Cruz holds the children of his lieutenants and other victims at his mother's house as hostage to force their cooperation.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Because of SVU trying to convince Joaquin to cough up some information, Little Tino ends up getting shanked (but surviving), their two lead suspects being killed, an innocent being killed as collateral and putting Noah and a nanny in danger, as a result of their boss deciding to clean up some loose ends.
  • Overt Rendezvous: Amaro meets with Joaquin Menendez in a diner.
  • Porn Stache: Carisi sports an epic one upon his introduction this season. It works in his favor, too, when he has to go undercover as a sex solicitor.
  • Refuge in Audacity: Carisi immediately butts heads with Olivia with his interrogation of Luna. It works.
  • True Final Boss: Angel Perez, who turns out to be Evil All Along.
