  • Trash the Set: An Irony in that they get miniatures made of the club with their characters, only to burn down the club in-universe.
  • Watching Troy Burn: The player characters witness their nighclub home base burn to the ground.
  • Weakened by the Light: The attack on the club is extra dangerous because it's during the daytime.

  • Daddy Had a Good Reason for Abandoning You: Mark finds out about his father being a vampire and the dangers it brings.
  • Exact Words: Jasper explains that he used to keep his fellow Kindred in his haven prisoner. He neglects to mention he fed on them or that he's a diablerist.

  • Passing the Torch: Abrams alludes to wanting to give Nelli G the Hollywood Barony after he's been Beckoned.
  • Shout-Out: Archangel's radio greeting - "Hello, Los Angeles. You're up way past your bedtime!" - is a verbatim quote from another Los Angeles-based, implied-to-be-Kindred-aligned radio host: Deb from The Deb of Night, featured in Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, although Deb calls the city by its initials.
  • Sadistic Choice: Mark must either be ghouled, Embraced, or mind-wiped.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: Jasper denies he's going on a date with Eva. He is.

  • The Dead Can Dance: More or less the theme of the episode.

  • Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap!: A humorous example as Annabelle talks about how she's gotten together back with Mark only to realize how terrible it sounds.
  • Friendly Neighborhood Vampire: Chelsea decides the group is a bunch of these. This is due to Nelli G showering her with gifts, Annabelle offering her a way out, and the Bad Boss history she has with Chaz.
  • Implied Death Threat: The Lasombra make a number of these.
  • Involuntary Dance: Nelli is forced to have one of these with Aurora.
  • Kirk Summation: by Jasper about Annabelle's actions in the previous episode.
"So Mark showed up, you told him everything, and you made him a ghoul?"
  • Mundane Utility: Victor uses his Dominate to get the majority of the crowd to have an enormously good time.
  • Playing Both Sides: Gregory continues to work with the Second Inquisition.
  • Truce Zone: Victor attempts to make the Maharani one of these.
  • Vampire Dance: All of the undead in the Valley cut a rug on the floor.
  • Vampires Own Nightclubs: The Maharani is a bigger and more secure version of the Maharaja.
  • Villains Out Shopping: Aurora and Rodrigo are the Lasombra Scourges who show up to dance.

Chapter 28: Swimming with the Sharks

The vamily attempts to negotiate with the Prince's Scourges, only to find themselves in epic battle.

    • The Second Inquisition offers Fiona this. She refuses anyway.

  • Brother–Sister Team: It is revealed Rodrigo and Aurora are one of these.
  • Distressed Dude: Mark is captured by Aurora before they manage to rescue him, only to have them capture Jasper instead.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Mark is intensely jealous of Rodrigo's dance with Annabelle. This is due to the vampire blood in his veins.
  • Horror Hunger: Jasper attempts to diablerize Aurora. He fails.
  • The Load: Mark proves useless in a fight and quickly gets taken hostage.
  • Out-of-Character Moment: Mark and Annabelle are polyamorous and open with their relationship. The blood makes him possessive and angry over her. He doesn't like this at all.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Sanchez prefers flight over joining the Anarchs.
  • Ship Tease: Between Mark and Chelsea.

  • Only Sane Man:
    • Ib proves to be this as she's about the only member of the Camarilla coterie willing to work around Vannevar's insanity.
    • Ironically, this isn't true as Therese (A MALKAVIAN) is the only one to actively comment on Vannevar's lunacy.
  • Rogue Agent: Subverted. Garrick assumes the Lasombra Brother–Sister Team is this. Vannevar makes it clear he's the one who ordered them to burn down a dozen Anarch nightclubs.

  • Blackmail: Isaac says that Victor's attempt to do that with the Second Inquisition was pointless. He was, however, impressed enough to give Victor the Valley.
  • Blatant Lies: Victor says that he has no idea what happened with the Scourge's disappearance.
  • Character Development: Ib's pesonality is much more on display now that she's no longer blood bound to Fionrenza.

  • A Day in the Limelight: Archangel gets an entire episode to herself.

  • Didn't See That Coming: Archangel didn't expect X to find her because he had a vision of her location.
  • Elaborate Underground Base: A rather understated one in that she broadcasts from beneath a church.
  • Immortality Seeker: Archangel turns out to be one of these since she's Chloe.

  • Playing Both Sides: Archangel sells information to the Camarilla as well as the Anarchs in exchange for blood.
