This volume contains the following tropes:

  • Despair Event Horizon: Tohka, Origami, and the Yamai sisters hit it after Shido is killed the first time by Ellen on the school rooftop. In her backstory, Kurumi narrowly avoided it with her Fourth Bullet Dalet after learning that the Spirits she’d been killing were once human (with her most recent kill being her best friend Sawa).
  • Dude, He's Like, in a Coma!: It turns out that Kurumi had kissed the unconscious Shido after he saved her from Kotori in Volume 4. In doing so, she unwittingly sealed her Sixth Bullet Vav. When she kisses his corpse after he’s killed by Ellen, she regains Vav and enters a "Groundhog Day" Loop to avoid his death, kissing his corpse to regain the bullet each time she fails.
  • Duel of Seduction: Kurumi challenges Shido to see who can make the other fall for them first, with the winner getting the other's powers (via sealing for Shido, via “eating” for Kurumi).
  • "Groundhog Day" Loop: What Kurumi has to do over 200 times to prevent DEM from killing Shido. All in the course of 6 days.
  • Heroic RRoD: Kurumi passes out from the mental fatigue of failing to save Shido over 200 times, during which her eyepatch clone explains what’s going on.
  • Off with His Head!: The "Groundhog Day" Loop started with Ellen chopping off Shido’s head after stabbing him, which was too much for his Healing Factor. Tohka, Origami and the Yamai sisters were Forced to Watch while being held back by the Nibelcol, and they all end up Inverting from the gruesome sight. Kurumi reattached his head with Dalet, but couldn’t actually revive him.
  • Pensieve Flashback: Kurumi uses her Tenth Bullet Yud on Shido to show him her past, revealing why she wants to kill the First Spirit.
  • Reset Button: Kurumi notes that no matter how many clones die or Nibelcols are killed, everything is restored back to normal after being forced to use the Sixth Bullet to save Shido. While this also replenish her energy and army of clones, this also has the side effect of restoring the enemies army as well.
  • Shapeshifting Seducer: To train Shido to resist Kurumi’s seduction, Natsumi changes herself, Kotori, Yoshino, Tohka, the Yamais and Mukuro into busty adults. However, she also turns Origami, Miku and Nia into children as punishment for sneaking into his bed.
  • Super-Persistent Predator: The Nicelbol try to and often succeed at killing Shido at least 204 times.
  • That Was Not a Dream: One night, Shido suffers a nightmare in which several identical girls brutally murder him. Eyepatch Kurumi later informs him that he’s actually been dying over and over again in a "Groundhog Day" Loop; the girls were Nibelcol created from Westcott’s Beelzebub.
  • Through His Stomach: Kurumi and Shido both try to win each other over through exchanging lunchboxes. Shido's cat shape bento has the unintended effect of causing Kurumi to hallucinate for a moment that they are real cats behind Shido, begging to be eaten. Hilarity Ensues.
  • Tsundere: A bizzare example by Kurumi, who denies her affections and motives for saving Shido when even some of her clones have realized it, with eyepatch Kurumi even encouraging the original to be honest with herself.
