The episode addresses what would have happened if Takauji had met Hasebe at the riding club at night. Takauji calls off Hotei’s attack and apologises to Hasebe. Takauji admits his role in the cruise ship accident to Hasebe, and promises to become a better man. He asks Hasebe to keep the tape, so that Hasebe can use it to protect Mikoto if he makes her sad. Hasebe still does not trust him. Takauji asks Hasabe to hit him, and Hasebe reluctantly gives him a beating until a tearful Hotei stops him. Mikoto arrives and a bloodied Takauji apologises to her for his past behaviour. He tearfully confesses his love for her, and Mikoto reciprocates and embraces him. Hasebe apologises to Takauji, but Takauji thanks him. He and Hotei join the embrace and the four reconcile.
In the airport, Eight calls Hasebe to ask about the tape. Hasebe tells him that it has been settled and not to call him anymore. Eight finds Saiko in the delivery store and kisses her to go back in time in order to fix Hasabe’s betrayal. A delivery staff finds their bodies.
Takauji and Mikito’s three friends Nao, Marin, and Nanako have tea, and they inquire after his marriage, as well as noting that his old personality has returned and he is no longer “scary”. Takauji muses for a moment that Eight has been time travelling, but ends up dismissing the idea with a smile.
