Kiss That Kills E 5

Go To

The episode opens in the foyer of the Namiki riding club. Hasebe asks Takauji if it's true that he has proposed to Mikoto. Takauji confirms it, and Hasebe questions him. Otaro enters and answers that it is because Takauji wants to become the president of the Namiki Group company. Otaro accuses Takauji of leaving his father to die instead of calling the nurse when he had a seizure, but Takauji brushes him off. Hasebe questions Takauji's reasoning for wanting to marry Mikoto again, but Mikoto enters, and Otaro goes to greet her. Mikoto tells him that she no longer believes in anything he says, and tells him goodbye. Takauji leaves, and Otaro says that he will get things back on track. Hasebe overhears him and tells him it's too late, but Otaro reassures him that it is possible and leaves.

Otaro goes to find Saiko and convinces her to kiss him again, first with the reasoning that she wants to see her grandmother again, and then telling her that he needs to find the cause of Mikoto's change in attitude towards him. She says no, but Otaro mentions that this is part of the kissing contract and kisses her. They time-leap back to January 20th and Mikoto finds herself visiting her grandmother in the nursing home again.

Takauji is standing next to his father's sickbed, and doctors arrive at the scene, telling him that they were contacted that his father's condition had suddenly changed. Takauji leaves the room to find Otaro in the hospital corridor, saying that the doctors had somehow found his father in time, and that he had called Mikoto to come as well. Otaro accuses him of not pressing the nurse call button again. They are interrupted by the sound of the hearbeat monitor reaching zero, and reenter the hospital room to find that Takauji's father has passed away. Takauji secretly smiles, and exchanges a glare with Otaro.

Takauji, Mikoto, and their mother are now in the waiting room along with Otaro. Takauji tells his family the circumstances of his father's death, then proposes to Mikoto. His mother reacts in shock, but Takauji asks her if she thinks that Mikoto can succeed the Namiki group on her own. He says that with their father now gone, the only person who can protect Mikoto is himself. Otaro says that Mikoto has him as well.

Takauji reveals that Otaro is the son of Akira Doujima, the captain of the cruise ship accident 12 years ago. Mikoto is shocked, saying that Otaro told her his parents were attacked in a robbery, leaving him an orphan. Takauji accuses him of lying to gain Mikoto's sympathy. Mikoto tells Otaro that she no longer believes in anything he says, and leaves.

Otaro is furious, realising that nothing has changed by going back 7 days. However, he remembers Hasebe's persistent questioning of Takauji's motive to marry Mikoto.

At the Namiki riding club, Hasebe asks Takauji if it's true that he has proposed to Mikoto. Hasebe's questioning is interrupted by Mikoto's arrival, and he asks her if she is unsure about marrying Takauji. Mikoto does not answer, and Takauji interrupts, telling Mikoto that the day has been decided for the engagement party. Mikoto is upset that she has not heard anything about this, and Arai arrives, telling her that since her father's death, there has been much concern regarding the future of the Namiki Group. To alleviate the concern, it is necessary to make the marriage public as soon as possible. Takauji affirms that he thinks Mikoto's feelings should come first, however for the sake of not causing problems with the company, they should not be careless about this. Takauji and Arai leave, and Hasebe says that Takauji is acting strangely, saying that his words do not match his actions. Mikoto defends him, saying that the company is important too, but leaves troubled.

Otaro has overheard the whole conversation and approaches Hasebe, telling him that it is fine to block Takauji, and asks him what is the real reason for Takauji's proposal to Mikoto. Hasebe brushes him off, and Hotei enters, menacingly asking Otaro why he is there. Meanwhile, Hasebe has left. In a flashback, it is shown that Hasebe sees Arai threatening Takauji with the tape.

Otaro returns home to find his mother cooking for him. He accuses her of wanting to exort money from him to find his brother Kota, and tries to give her money in exchange for severing relations with him. His mother asks him if he hates Kota, and reveals that she saw him at the end of the New Year when she was giving out flyers. She is insistent that Kota is still alive, but Otaro is convinced that he is dead and tells her that if she really wanted to see Kota, it would be more peaceful for Otaro if she did. Otaro tells her that he is trying to change his life, and asks her not to intrude on it anymore. His mother leaves sadly.

Otaro surprises Hasebe in a carpark, and gets into his car. He asks Hasebe to tell him Takauji's secret, saying that if Mikoto is unhappily married, it will be Hasebe's fault. He tells him that the bad guy is the one who does nothing despite knowing something, which convinces Hasebe to reveal what he saw. In the flashback, Takauji asks Arai for the tape, telling Arai that he will keep his promise of making Arai vice-president. Arai tells him he will keep it until the inauguration. Otaro tells Hasebe that he will get the tape, and reassures Hasebe that he will not expose the contents and Hasebe can return it to Takauji. Otaro says that as Takauji is being forced into the proposal as well, he is not serious about marrying Mikoto.

Mikoto is looking at Otaro's contact on her phone. Takauji is wearing his engagement suit, and asks Mikoto where her dress is. She replies that she will put it on.

Saiko receives her delivery schedule, showing the Namiki engagement party on January 27th. On the day of the party, Nao, Marin and Nanako watch Takauji socialising with members of the company, and wonder if the engagement will make Mikoto happy. Arai reminds Takauji of the tape. Suddenly, the lights are dimmed, and rose petals fall from the ceiling to cover the stage. Takauji tells the staff member that he did not ask for this and that Mikoto has a rose allergy.

Due to the roses, Mikoto is asked to stay in the waiting room. Otaro is there, and it is implied that he arranged the rose spectacle in order to talk to Mikoto. Otaro apologises for lying to her, telling her that the reality is worse. He tells her about how the cruise accident caused his brother's death and his family to fall apart, leading him to discard his past and become a host. Mikoto says that Takauji has always protected her, both after the cruise accident and after being restrained from becoming the heir. Otaro asks her if searching for true love is something she has to be protected from. Mikoto tells him unhappily that he doesn't understand that this is her destiny. Otaro reminds her that the moment her father died, Takauji removed himself from the Namiki family register in order to propose to her, and that he arranged the engagement party without any concern for her feelings. Otaro tells Mikoto that Takauji has a secret, and if she knows it, her future might change.

Meanwhile, Otaro's mother is on the street passing out flyers looking for Kota. She slips and injures herself badly. At the party, Otaro receives a call telling him that his mother is at the hospital and about to undergo emergency surgery due to a serious accident. Otaro refuses to attend the surgery and hangs up.

On the stage, Takauji and Mikoto are about to greet the audience. Otaro splashes Arai's shirt with wine, and a nearby staff member offers to take care of his jacket while he changes into a new shirt. Hotei chases Otaro but loses him in the building. The staff member Rena gives Otaro the jacket, and he repays her by getting rid of her debt to the host club.

Saiko delivers a bag to the host club, and asks the manager about Eight. She goes to find him in the morgue with his mother's body. Otaro tells her she took her last breath 20 minutes before he arrived. He tells Saiko that her death is a weight lifted off his shoulders and leaves.

Arai is furious about the theft, but Takauji tells him that even if the tape is watched, no one will understand the contents, and says that Arai is more concerned about his position than Takauji's reputation. Otaro watches the tape repeatedly, but does not understand how it is a scandal.

On the street, Saiko hears Himura singing, and thinks back to when Himura asked if he knew her. She asks Himura if Eight's feelings about his mother's death is true. Himura tells her that if she wants to do something for Eight, she should do it.

In his apartment, Otaro reads about the Namiki engagement party, his mother's ashes on the table. While eating the food his mother prepared for him, he receives a call from Arai who promises to pay him 2,000,000 yen for the tape.

On his way to meet Arai, Otaro meets Saiko, and tells her about the tape. Saiko tells him that he will be able to get the tape again even if he goes back in time to save his mother, and convinces him to kiss her with an impassioned speech. Otaro tells her about Ren and the plan to get the tape, and they kiss.

Otaro returns to January 27th in the waiting room with Mikoto. Otaro leaves and successfully saves his mother from the fall. He asks her why she is not looking for his father as he was the one to leave them. She tells Otaro that his father did not sink the ship, and that the accident was due to damage to the ship, and that the footage from the ship's engine room was missing.

Otaro finds Saiko, however she is restrained by Hotei, and Takauji has possession of the tape. Otaro asks if the tape is of Takauji in the engine room. Takauji smiles and says that he wonders what it was, before he burns the tape.

At the engagement party, Takauji leaves the stage to retrieve Mikoto's earring. Otaro runs to the stage and kisses her. She pushes him away, but he tells her that if she moves forward, she can change the future, echoing Saiko's speech. Mikoto glances around at the audience and at Takauji, who calls her name. She turns to Otaro and kisses him passionately. The audience reacts in shock and Takauji looks away in anger.
