Recap / Kingdom Hearts BBS Mission A 03 Enchanted Dominion

Go To

Aqua reaches the Enchanted Dominion, where she finds an ominous castle. As she approaches, she witnesses a glowing ball of light coming out of it. Inside the castle, she finds Ventus confronting the evil fairy Maleficent. She tells Ven that Terra did something horrible, but Aqua insists that he would never do such a thing. Aqua tries to get Ven to return home (despite what she said last time), but he doesn't listen and runs off.

Aqua tries to go after Ven, but she is stopped by Maleficent. She tells Aqua that she knows about the Keyblade, causing her to realize that Maleficent was telling the truth. Maleficent reveals that she knows Xehanort before dropping Aqua into the dungeon. Inside, she meets Prince Philip, who tells her that his love Aurora is stuck an eternal slumber. Only he can break the curse, which is why Maleficent imprisoned him there. The three Good Fairies arrive, and they all decide to go help Aurora. On the way out of Maleficent's castle, her raven Diablo alerts the guards, forcing them to fight their way out.

As the group approaches Aurora's castle, Maleficent surrounds it with huge thorns to block their entrance before teleporting to them. Aqua says that Terra must not have intentionally helped her, but Maleficent says that he willingly embraced the darkness. Maleficent unleashes the powers of hell to transform into a dragon and battles Aqua and Philip. After the two of them weaken her, the Good Fairies enchant Philip's sword as he throws it at Maleficent, defeating her and destroying the thorns. While Philip goes to break the curse, Aqua confronts the weakened Maleficent. Aqua says that Maleficent will never be able to beat the power of light, but Maleficent says that darkness will grow within people's hearts over time, and one day she will be able to rule the worlds. Aqua tells Terra to stay strong before leaving the world...

Tropes:

  • One-Winged Angel: Dragon Maleficent.
  • Precision F-Strike: Well, she's talking about the plane of afterlife, but Maleficent gets to keep her mention of the powers of hell from the film.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: In the film, once Prince Philip throws the Sword of Truth at Maleficent, she outright dies. In this game, she's merely weakened. After all, she has to survive to appear in the first game.
