Go To

Connie and Bobby pretend to break up so they can get money from Kahn, but the couple are pushed back together (then pushed apart) when a teacher mistakes a sarcastic comment written by Connie for a suicide note. Meanwhile, Dale hosts a pirate radio show.

Tropes:

  • Buccaneer Broadcaster: Dale's radio show, which is mostly him just giving his usual conspiracy theories for 24 hours straight. The people on Rainey Street are apparently the only ones who can pick up the signal though, and since he's the only one working on it, he ultimately becomes delirious from lack of sleep and starts to introduce imaginary guests that he then apologizes for afterwards, until he finally ends his broadcast, claiming he lost his advertising after he made comments that offended his only sponsor — himself. He then sells the station to Octavio, who turns it into a TexMex music channel with an emphasis on polka.
  • How Dad Met Mom: The official story Minh tells Connie about how she and Kahn met is that they were two students who met while studying in Laos. In reality, Minh reveals that her father wanted her to date a studious young man who came from a good family, but ended choosing Kahn, who used to a be rebellious motorcycle rider.
  • Love Is a Crime: Parodied, with Connie and Bobby being yelled at by teachers for holding hands in the hallway.
  • Mistaken for Suicidal: A teacher mistakes Connie's sarcastic writing for a suicide note.
  • Precision F-Strike: Dale drops the only F-Bomb in the series (bleeped out naturally) while he's announcing the end of his radio station.
Dale: [sounding worn out] I can't drum up any new sales since I'm behind this *bleep*ing microphone all day.
