Go To

Bill falls in love after he has a blind date with Charlene, a hot single mother. However, Dale's intuition tells him something is not quite right with Charlene's daughter Kate, and after he secretly performs a DNA test he discovers that Kate is related to his son Joseph (which isn't good when the two start to fall for each other).

Tropes

  • Brother–Sister Incest: Bill starts dating a single mother and a distrusting Dale does a DNA test on her daughter. The results reveal that she has the same father as Joseph. Peggy notices that Joseph and the girl are growing attracted to each other, and sends Bobby to hang out with them and play third wheel in order to keep things from getting squicky.
  • Censored Title and Either/Or Title: The original title to this episode is "Three Men and a Bastard," but FOX censors wouldn't allow it, so, in most episode summaries, the episode goes by "The Untitled Blake McCormick Project".
  • Casting Gag: Brittany Murphy uses the same voice for Kate that she used when voicing Joseph in seasons 1-4 of the show.
  • Hypocrite: Nancy chews out John Redcorn for cheating on her when she herself cheated on her husband.
  • Jerkass: Dale purposely has John Redcorn hook up with Charlene just because he doesn't want Bill raising his "daughter" when he announces they're moving in with him.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Nancy learns that John Redcorn was seeing other women at the time of their affair. She doesn't take it well, even though the affair has been over for some time. Not helping John Redcorn's case is when Nancy learns Joseph and Kate were probably conceived on the same day.
  • Properly Paranoid: Dale feels suspicious about Kate to the point he gets a hair sample from her to do a DNA test. It turns this was the right thing to do, as it proves Kate and Joseph are half-siblings. Once Hank, Peggy, and the other adults find out they have to stop the two from getting too close before things get disturbing.
  • Special Guest: Melinda Clarke as Charlene.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: John Redcorn may not be able to raise or spend time with Joseph but he now has a daughter to raise and teach her about her Native American heritage and a new relationship note .
  • Tomboy with a Girly Streak: Kate acts and sounds like a tomboy and dresses in lilac and pastel colors.
