Recap / King Of The Hill S 11 E 10 Hair Today Gone Tomorrow

Go To

Nancy begins losing her hair, and her visiting mother reveals that it's from stress over her unresolved feelings for John Redcorn. Meanwhile, Dale takes a ride with Kahn's delinquent nephew in a souped-up racecar during the vernal equinox and thinks he has traveled through time.

Tropes:

  • Dumbass Has a Point: Luanne, in her own way, effortlessly tears down Nancy's vain justifications to rekindle things with John Redcorn.
Luanne: I'll tell you what Jesus would do. He would resist the temptation even if he had to go bald. And he had great hair.
  • Idiot Ball: Dale really holds it firmly in this episode. He gets in Kahn's nephew car and initially mistakes him for an alien (despite his plainly human like features and Kahn telling him earlier that his nephew is visiting) and later thinks he's actually traveled through time.
  • Intoxication Ensues: Nancy takes anti-anxiety medication and begins acting like she's drunk.
  • Karma Houdini: Kahn's nephew gets away with leaving Dale on the outskirts of town, and sticking Bill with the beer tab.
  • Language Barrier: Dale meets Kahn's nephew, who asks him, in Laotian, "Am I in Arlen?". However, he pronounces "Arlen" as "Ay-len" (Truth in Television as the Laotian language doesn't have an equivalent to the letter "R"), making Dale think he's identified himself as an alien.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Nancy finally suffers long term consequences for cheating on Dale for over a decade, as she has grown so dependent on John Redcorn's presence in her life that she's going bald without him.
  • Like Father, Like Son: Or in this case Like Mother Like Daughter, as it turns out that Nancy's own mother also had an affair when she was young, and the stress of her breaking it off is what caused her own hair to fall out.
  • Mood-Swinger: Nancy mentions she's a 'swirly tempest of emotions' and names some while also acting them out.
