Recap / Kill La Kill Ep 24 Past The Infinte Darkness

Go To

The Final Battle reaches its climax as the heroes give their all to stop Ragyo and the Primordial Life Fiber from taking over the world.

Examples

  • All Your Powers Combined: Satsuki, the Elite Four, Nudist Beach, Mako and her family and every student of Hoonoji give Ryuko their Life Fibers to power her enough so she may go into space and defeat Ragyo once and for all.
  • Back-to-Back Badass: Ryuko and Satsuki does this as they prepare to take down their villainous mother.
  • Better to Die than Be Killed: After being defeated and the Life Fibers destroyed, Ragyo takes death over Ryuko's offer of surrender by pulling out her own heart and crushing it.
  • Call-Back: Gamagoori secretly had on body armor made from his family's steel mill company.
  • Catch a Falling Star: As Ryuko falls back to Earth, Satsuki rushes to catch her, followed by Mako, the Elite Four, the Mankanshoku Family, and all the students to stop her fall.
  • Continuity Nod: Senketsu absorbing Life Fibers after each battle is utilized in defeating Shinra-Kōketsu.
  • Disney Death: Gamagoori is seemingly killed taking Nui's attack to protect Mako. But he returns later, having revealed he was wearing armor under his clothes that stopped the attack.
  • Don't Celebrate Just Yet:
    • The heroes manage to take out the transmitter and Ragyo is seemingly defeated. But then she commands Nui and her clones to kill themselves to re-power the Shinra-Kōketsu and shoots off into space to manually activate the satellite and all the Life Fibers to take over the Earth.
    • Before she kills herself, Ragyo warns Ryuko that the Life Fibers will one day return to Earth to invade again. Ryuko responds that they will be ready.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: Ragyo when Ryuko gives her speech stating that humans will never bow down to her and the Life Fibers. The cast of Gurren Lagann would be proud.
  • Final Battle: The fate of both humans and Life Fibers is decided between Ryuko and Ragyo.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Senketsu uses himself to shield Ryuko from the heat of reentry, resulting in his death.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: That Shinra-Kōketsu Absolute Domination ability Ragyo so proud of wind up backfiring when she stabs Ryuko who, thanks to all the damage taken in the battle and her regenerative abilities, made her strong enough to absorb Shinra-Kōketsu and gave Ryuko the ability, allowing her to override the Life Fibers and save Earth.
  • If We Get Through This…: Mako asks Ryuko out on a date once she defeats Ragyo and saves the world.
  • Last Request: Before dying, Senketsu asks Ryuko to wear clothes that are cuter then him.
  • Loophole Abuse: Ragyo's Absolute Domination ability makes it so that all Life Fibers, especially worn by the heroes, are immobilized. But because Ryuko and Senketsu are hybrid beings, they're able to resist the ability and turn the tide in their favor.
  • Naked People Are Funny: The entire cast loses their clothes during the Final Battle. Justified as they all surrendered their Life Fibers to power up Ryuko and Senketsu. It can be viewed as Hilarious in Hindsight, but it's still funny seeing them all grouped up naked.
  • Negated Moment of Awesome: The Nudist Beach special Ultimate Double Naked DTR - promptly gets bitchslapped by Ragyou.
    • Subverted later, they use it as a makeshift missile to finally destroy the transmitter.
  • Ocular Gushers: Mako cries these after Gamagoori passes out from a fatal stab wound.
  • Say My Name: Ryuko cries out Senektu's name after he's torn into nothing upon breaking the atmosphere.
  • Self-Disposing Villain: Nui sacrifices herself at Ragyo's command in a last gambit to repower Ragyo's Shinra-Kōketsu, seemingly merging her consciousness within the Life Fiber. Once Ryuko orders all of them destroyed, it's assumed whatever was left of Nui went with it. Likewise Ragyo when after her plans are thwarted and she refuses surrender, deciding to kill herself instead.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Taking the Bullet: Gamagoori takes a stab from Nui to protect Mako.
