Takeru Tenkuji dreams to follow in the footsteps of his late father, Ryu Tenkuji, a highly skilled Ghost Hunter. When the day of his 18th birthday comes, he received a package, which was sent by... his dad, days before his death! Inside is a mysterious white orb known as a Ghost Eyecon. However, a mysterious monsters appear, demanding that Takeru hand the Eyecon over. In order to protect his friends, Takeru confronts him in battle...
... and is promptly killed off.
- Bittersweet Ending: Takeru does avenge his own death and gain a new Eyecon, but he's still very much undead and his friends are more interested in bickering than consoling him about his new state of being. And to top it all of, the Hermit says that Takeru has only 99 days left to live unless he finds the rest of the Eyecons. But since one day already passed, he's down to 98 now.
- Conservation of Ninjutsu: Averted, then played straight: Takeru semi-easily takes down one of the Ganma that killed him as he was all alone, but his buddy has him on the ropes because he throws his entire horde of mooks at him. Once he gets his new Musashi Damashii form however, he easily mows down each and every one of them, PLUS the Katana Ganma that helped kill him.
- Dead Man Writing: Plot gets started when Takeru receives a package from his late father on his 18th birthday, which he apparently sent 10 years ago days before his death.
- Death by Origin Story: Basically the entire point of the episode: Our hero becomes a Kamen Rider... AFTER he bites the dust.
- Died on Their Birthday: As part of the Downer Beginning, Takeru dies on his 18th birthday after defending his friends from an attacking Gamma, setting the entire plot into motion.
- First-Episode Resurrection: Takeru gets killed not even 10 minutes into the episode, but he's soon revived by the Hermit. Well, mostly revived...
- Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Takeru prevents the Yari Ganma from skewering Akari who was having a Heroic BSoD moment by pushing her out of the way.
- How Do I Shot Web?: Takeru had no idea on how to use the Ghost Driver, let alone his Kamen Rider powers. Thankfully, Yurusen was there to explain everything.
- Orphan's Plot Trinket: The Musashi Ghost was sealed in the pendant holding a piece of Miyamoto's sword Takeru's father gave to him prior to his death.
- Title Drop: Twice. The first time is the series' overall title, given out by the Sage, and the second is the episode's title, which is dropped by the Ghost Driver once Takeru transforms for the first time into Kamen Rider Ghost.
