Recap / Kaeloo S 1 E 25 Lets Play Golf

Go To

The main four play golf. Kaeloo, feeling insecure about her lack of skill compared to Quack Quack and Mr. Cat, tries to cheat using her Super-Strength.

"Let's Play Golf" contains the following tropes:

  • Borrowed Catchphrase: Kaeloo borrows one of Stumpy's myriad catchphrases:
  • Brick Joke:
    • In the middle of the episode, Kaeloo mentions something about pennyloafers coming back in style. At the end of the episode, Mr. Cat asks her if pennyloafers are really coming back in style.
    • Stumpy hits a golf ball too far. Later in the episode, it returns to him after orbiting the planet.
  • Cheaters Never Prosper: Kaeloo punishes herself after she is caught cheating.
  • Comically Missing the Point: Kaeloo attempts to explain the rules of golf to Stumpy and Quack Quack. First, she says that the object of the game is to put the ball in the hole. Stumpy picks up the ball, runs to the hole and puts it in. Kaeloo then tells him that he was supposed to put it in with the club, so he takes the club and drops it down the hole with the ball. Kaeloo tells him that he was supposed to hit the ball with the club, so he goes to the hole with the ball in it and starts violently shoving the club down the hole to "hit" the ball.
  • Funny Background Event: A ball Stumpy hit with his golf club earlier in the episode returns after orbiting the planet and hits him in the head after having orbiting the planet while Mr. Cat tries playing golf.
  • Fun with Homophones: When Kaeloo tells Stumpy that he has to use a tee to play golf, he thinks she said "tea" and asks why he can't have coffee instead.
  • Golf Clubbing: Mr. Cat does this to Quack Quack.
  • Hypocritical Humor: Mr. Cat joins the others in calling Kaeloo a "dirty cheater".
  • Look Behind You: Each time it's her turn, Kaeloo tells everyone to look at something in the distance, e.g. a "flying rhinoceros", and then transforms to hit the ball. Unfortunately for her, her final attempt ends in Stumpy, who is standing behind her, witnessing everything and telling the others.
  • Mini-Golf Episode: The main four play golf and Kaeloo gets a bit too competitive.
  • Never My Fault: Stumpy says something to Kaeloo shortly before she hits her golf ball. When Kaeloo fails to hit the ball, rather than admit her bad golf skills, she accuses Stumpy of making her lose her concentration by talking. Stumpy even lampshades this by saying that she's just blaming him for her own mistakes.
  • Out-of-Character Moment: Kaeloo rudely insults Stumpy to his face and cheats at a game, Quack Quack gets mad at Mr. Cat instead of forgiving him, the normally intelligent Mr. Cat thinks that the planet isn't round, and resident moron Stumpy is the only one who doesn't fall for Kaeloo's trick.
