Jane: This might sound crazy, but I don't think that's Petra.
Narrator: It's about damn time.

As Jane moves into her new home, Alba and Xiomara deal with empty-nester syndrome and question their own career paths. Meanwhile, Jane and Michael realize they can't actually afford the house they live in, leading to some financial squabbles. Rogelio makes another attempt to increase his American profile by being cast in a Hallmark movie. Since Amanda Elaine wrote the book the movie was based on, he asks Rafael to go as her date to a charity event in exchange for a role.

Tropes:

  • Blackmail: Anezka blackmails Rafael into selling her his shares with the knowledge of him covering up Emilio's shady dealings.
  • Broke Episode: Jane and Michael spend the episode trying to figure out how they're going to cut expenses enough to cover rent on their house, now that Petra's stopped covering it for them. They eventually decide to move into a smaller apartment.
  • Casting Couch: Mentioned. Rogelio promises not to sleep with the author to get the part this time.
  • Cat Fight: Discussed by Rogelio as a classic telenovela trope, as usual, and one actually plays out between "Petra" and Jane in the pool.
  • Intergenerational Friendship: Rogelio befriends both Rafael and Luisa in this episode as he asks Rafael for a favor (go as Amanda Elaine's date for a charity event) and 'babysits' Luisa in the process. He actually helps Luisa recognize her issues through acting techniques!
  • Mrs. Robinson: Amanda is quite eager to get it on with Rafael.
  • New Job Episode: For Xo, who tries her hand at working at a bank. It doesn't stick.
  • Something Only They Would Say: After missing Out Of Character Alerts throughout the episode, Jane realizes the Twin Switch between Anezka and Petra when she encounters "Petra" in the hallway and she lets out a very Anezka-like squeak.
