Recap / Jackie Chan Adventures S 2 E 33 Glove Story

Go To

Jackie finds a pirate treasure chest and his gloves for a museum. The curator lets him keep the gloves, which have a dark secret.

  • Ambiguous Situation: It's a complete mystery on what these gloves are. Are they magical items Greenbeard used to claim his treasure? Are they possessed by the ghost of Greenbeard? Did they force Greenbeard into stealing treasure against his will?
  • Animate Inanimate Object: Green Beard's gloves are somehow capable of movement and thought, including theft.
  • Brick Joke: When Jackie tells McCutcheon and Haggis Greenbeard's treasure belongs to the museum, Haggis thinks Jackie's name is "The Museum". Later in the episode when the two pirates try to steal the treasure from the museum and Haggis sees Jackie, he refers to him as "The Museum".
  • Clear My Name: Tohru is arrested when he knocks over the gloves filled with stolen jewels causing the cops to think he's the thief when it was really the gloves themselves.
  • Head Desk: Jade does this in response to it turning out that Uncle and Tohru's game was prolonged because neither knew whose turn it was to make a move.
  • Idiot Ball: Jackie and especially Uncle don't lift a finger to help Tohru (aside from Jackie asking if Captain Black can pull more strings) and just believe he really stole the jewels. Until they see the gloves are alive.
  • Karma Houdini: The gloves don't get in any trouble. Once they go down the storm gutter, they're merely retrieved by a fisherman.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: Despite defecting from the Dark Hand at the end of the previous season, Tohru notes he should be in prison for the crimes he committed prior to his Faceā€“Heel Turn. It's only thanks to Captain Black that he's put on parole instead.
  • Would Hurt a Child: In a way. The cops are willing to handcuff Jade along with Jackie, Uncle, and Tohru.
