Recap / Infinity Train: Blossoming Trail: The Corgi Car

Go To

The first arc starts with a 6-year-old Goh and Chloe eating beef stew curry with pasta as Goh makes a promise to try out a curry Chloe makes in the future. When Chloe wakes up, she finds herself in...something that does not look like the interior of a Train and with a strange number on her hand.

Before she questions where she is, she's introduced to a video by the train's Conductor: a white bowling ball with two personalities called One-One. Said conductor explains how the Train works: travel through the cars, get her number down to zero and then she can go home...

But Chloe doesn't want to do this.

What's the point of going back home to a town where everyone expects her to act like they want her to act, where her father doesn't notice that she's not a battler, Goh will forever chase Mew and Ash sucks up everything? No, she rather stay for as long as she wants and she will not let anyone stop her.

Just as this settles, she sees that she landed in a car filled with...Yampers? No, corgis! And approaching her is the king of this car, Atticus, Uniter of the Cardigans and the Pembrokes. Chloe lucked out as Atticus already has experience exploring the Train and he's willing to give her a feast as she hasn't had anything to eat in who knows how long.

Unfortunately, while she is happy spending her first night on the Train with a corgi king who is willing to join her on her quest to find herself, everyone back home has realized she has vanished.

This arc contains examples of:

  • Adaptation Expansion: More of Corginia is detailed than in the show — due to Tulip immediately wanting to get out — and it shows off a garden, a bathhouse and Atticus's palace.
  • Alice Allusion: Chloe mutters "Curioser and curioser" when she sees Corginia and names her donut holer after the Cheshire Cat (or Purrloin in her case)
  • Famed In-Story: Tulip Olsen is revered in Corginia for helping bring One-One back to his role as Conductor.
  • The Ghost: Randall wrote a letter for Chloe on her new beach dress, thanking her for the lunchbox.
  • I Call It "Vera": Chloe names her donut holer Cheshire.
  • Improbable Weapon User: Discussed. Chloe gets a bonus gift in one of Randall's donut holers and she states that she'll use it as her weapon against the Ghoms.
  • Late-Arrival Spoiler: Atticus spells out the entirety of Infinity Train Book 1 to Chloe.
  • Shown Their Work: All the food and plants shown in Corginia are dog friend. The only exception are the onions but it's more as a tribute to Tulip.
  • Talking Animal: Atticus already applies but other corgis in Corginia are capable of speaking.
