Argument of Contradictions: The episode starts with Yin-Yang getting into one of these over whether to get water or Dr. Fizz from a vending machine. It's interrupted when they accidentally get themselves sucked into Test Tube's secret lab.
Bait-and-Switch Compassion: Trophy uses his blackmail material on Knife to force him to take part in the triathlon, during which Yang breaks Knife's leg by throwing Yin at him. After the challenge, Trophy walks up to Knife, saying that he can't believe what his blackmailing has caused. Then it turns out that he's actually upset that his team lost the challenge, not concerned for Knife's wellbeing.
Cross-Popping Veins: When Yin says that he and Yang need to be together so he can keep Yang's anger in check, Yang is seen with one of these to underline the point.
Did You Get a New Haircut?: When Test Tube and Yin greet the other contestants after Yin-Yang's separation, which has left Yin a pure white ball instead of a black-and-white yin-yang symbol, Apple notices that something's different about him and asks if he got a new tie.
Fastball Special: During the bike part of the triathlon challenge, Yang throws a definitely non-willing Yin at Knife, breaking both the latter's bike and leg.
Hand Gagging: When Microphone prepares to volunteer for the challenge in her usual loud fashion, Nickel, lacking hands, does this with his foot instead to spare everyone's ears before telling her that she's in.
Idea Bulb: One of these, along with an Idea Ding, shows up when Fan gets the idea to trick Microphone into propelling him ahead of him in the triathlon race with the soundwaves from her loud voice.
Infernal Background: Yang gets a fiery background to acompany his Evil Laugh after he declares that he's going to kill everyone on the show.
Red Eyes, Take Warning: Yang temporarily gets red eyes when he announces that he's planning to kill everyone on the show.
The Stinger: After the credits, Lightbulb is shown to still be lying in the lawn chair she put out earlier in the episode, cheering over how rebellious she feels for staying up to midnight. She then notices the viewer, clears her throat, packs up her chair, and walks away.
Wheel o' Feet: Soap gets this, complete with Running on the Spot for a moment and engine noises, when Toilet gets kicked into the pool she's swimming in and starts leaking toilet water next to her. She then proceeds to race off screen on top of the water to get away from him.
Wink "Ding!": After Fan says that he'll write a blog post about Microphone catching up to him in the triathlon, he winks at the camera with a ding as the address to the real blog on the Inanimate Insanity website pops up on screen.
