Recap / I Zombie S 2 E 9 Capetown

Go To

Liv and Clive investigate the murder of costumed vigilante The Fog. Liv and Major deal with the fallout of Liv going through Major's things while under the influence of Regina.

  • An Asskicking Christmas: The climax takes place in a warehouse full of Christmas paraphernalia, and is full of people being whacked in the head with papier-mâché reindeer and such.
  • Code Name: Liv rejects several proposals from Ravi. She finally dubs herself "The Nightmare Before Christmas."
  • Diegetic Switch: Near the beginning of the episode, a sanitation worker walks toward his garbage truck humming "Here We Come A-Wassailing" to himself. As he discovers the body of the week in the dumpster, the song gets taken over by a highly non-diegetic choir.
  • Emergency Transformation: Liv turns Drake into a zombie because it seems to be the only way to save his life, and he knows how to get the tainted utopium they need for the cure.
  • High-Class Call Girl: Natalie was one before being zombified.
  • I'm a Doctor, Not a Placeholder: When Don E. brings the mortally wounded Drake into Shady Plots, Blaine's reaction is, "Dammit, Don E., I'm a brain dealer, not a doctor!"
  • Internal Reveal: Liv learns that the creepy guy she met in the barbershop a few weeks ago is actually Mr. Boss.
  • Interrupted Suicide: Major breaks into Natalie's house to abduct her, and instead stops her from shooting herself in the head.
  • Reporting Names: According to Natalie, the zombies she interacts with call Major "The Boogeyman."
  • Robbing the Mob Bank: The "Damsel in Distress" The Fog appears to have rescued from Mr. Boss's men had just robbed Mr. Boss's illegal poker game. She killed The Fog because he noticed evidence of her crime.
  • Twisted Christmas: Liv breaks up with Major, Babineaux decides he can't keep working with Liv any more, and Ravi learns the cure isn't permanent. Merry Christmas, everyone!
  • Vigilante Man: The victim is one of these, so Liv becomes one too for the span of the episode.
  • Villainous Rescue: Mr. Boss saves Liv from the "Damsel in Distress". Then he clears all the evidence of his own criminal activity from the scene and calls the police, allowing him to maintain his business facade.
  • Wham Episode: Ravi's guinea pig rat, New Hope, reverts back to its zombie state after over half a year as normal, suggesting that the effects of the cure used last season may not be permanent.
