iStage an Intervention is the 2nd episode of the 2nd season of iCarly.
When Spencer gets addicted to a Pak-Rat video game he finds, Carly, Sam and Freddie must find a way to break his habit so he can finish a labradoodle sculpture for a rich doctor.
Meanwhile, Sam tricks Freddie into thinking he's cursed by a ghost named Consuela.
Tropes:
- An Aesop: Don't procrastinate. It's important to get your job done. Or better yet, save your time to play video games after you're all done earning money from work.
- Contrived Coincidence: As Sam explains to Carly how SHE was the one behind the bad luck that Freddie was having because of a curse, Carly asks her if that included the spider that appeared on his face right after he got the email. Sam admits that was just luck.
- The Dog Bites Back: When Freddie found out that Sam was behind the whole "Consuela’s revenge" act, he decides to get back at her by pretending to text her as Gary Wolf, a popular senior at school, asking her to meet him for a date.
- Here We Go Again!: At the end, although Spencer got over his addiction to the video game, Carly's gotten hooked on it now, to the point that she stayed up all night playing, and Spencer had to literally carry her to bed in the morning. It is likely Spencer threw out the game back to the dumpster.
- Hollywood Atheist: Freddie doesn't believe in bad luck or curses at all.
- Humiliation Conga: Freddie, the show's primary Butt-Monkey, suffers through this as Sam constantly torments him trying to get him to believe that curses are real.
- Just One More Level!: Spencer becomes addicted to Pak-Rat and refuses to stop playing even while his career is sinking.
- Mouth Screen: The episode starts with an Extreme Close-Up of Carly showing her tongue to the camera during a webcast.
- Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Freddie looking up who holds the highest score on Pak-Rat is what drove Spencer to go back to playing the game just as he was ready to return to sculpting a labradoodle.
- Red Sock Ruins the Laundry: Part of the series of mishaps that Freddie encounters.
- Shout-Out: The Pak-Rat video game is obviously a parody of Pac-Man.
- Superstition Episode: On Freddie's side, thinking he's cursed by "Consuela's Revenge".
