Recap / Horseland S 1 E 2 Win Some Lose Some

Go To

Theme: Not blaming one's own faults on others.
Character focus: Alma

Alma boasts that she doesn't need to practice her jumping and is proven wrong.

This episode provides examples of:

  • An Aesop: Two. Just because you're good at something, it doesn't mean you don't ned to practice; and don't blame others just because things don't go your way.
  • Bait-and-Switch Comment: When Angora falls a second time, she says she won't blame Teeny like she previously did, suggesting she learned her lesson. She instead blames Shep.
  • Brick Joke: The episode starts with Angora falling on water and blaming Teeny and ends with Angora falling on water and blaming Shep.
  • Exact Words: One of the jurors grew up with the Stilton sisters' mother and learned horse riding at the same stable. Contrary to what Alma initially assumed from being told this, they don't like each other.
  • Never My Fault:
    • Alma is so overconfident she refuses to practice for the jumping contest and, when she fails, she blames it on the people who changed the race course and the supposed friendship between a juror and the mother of the Stilton sisters.
    • Angora falls twice on the episode and she blames a different character during each episode.
