- Costumes (in order of appearance): Strong Bad as Homestar as Angus Young, Coach Z as Kid, Strong Sad as Vyvyan, The King of Town as Mario, Marzipan as Lisa "Left-Eye" Lopez, Bubs as Captain Lou Albano, The Goblin as Strong Bad as The Bee, The Cheat as Russell, Strong Mad as A Ghost, The Poopsmith as a Sleestak, Homsar as Ghost Dog, Pom Pom as The Kool-Aid Man, Homestar as Angus Young.
Homestar Runner throws another Halloween party, this time where everyone carves pumpkins which get judged. Of course, when Homestar judges them, anything can happen.
Tropes:
- Back from the Dead: Possibly, everyone expresses shock and amaze when they see the Goblin. Then again, he was just a character in a story when he was first seen. Perhaps their reactions were more that he was Real After All (although he actually first appeared as a "real" character in "Where's the Cheat?" note ).
- Bedsheet Ghost: This is Strong Mad's costume. Of course, Strong Mad being Strong Mad, the holes are over his mouth instead of his eyes.
- Big "WHAT?!": When the Cheat points out to Strong Mad that his pumpkin is supposed to have a face carved into it, Strong Mad shouts "WHAT?!" and proceeds to punch eye and mouth holes into his pumpkin.
- Broke the Rating Scale: Homestar's response to the Poopsmith's pumpkin, which appears to be rotting, is to "just keep walking." He also tells Homsar that his entry (a spoon taped to an eggplant) "set a new standard for last place" and isn't even worthy of a "ding".
- Foreshadowing: There are some hints that "Homestar" is really Strong Bad in disguise, including asking The Cheat to be his co-judge, giving Strong Sad, the King of Town, Marzipan, and Coach Z (and Homsar) all bad prizes (last, worst, etc.), and giving Pom Pom second place, all for no apparent reason. Furthermore, "Homestar" gives Strong Mad a "good prize" for what he just did to his pumpkin (see Big "WHAT?!" above), he gives "Strong Bad"note a "most improved" for his approach to his pumpkin (which involves stabbing his pumpkin several times, then wrapping it in barbed wire, followed by covering it googly eyes because he felt bad for what he did), and he gives Bubs "not last place" for scaring The Cheat.
- Jerkass Has a Point: While Strong Bad's judgements were incredibly biased, he was justified in giving bad prizes for some of them. The King of Town's entry was a pumpkin pie he ate, the Poopsmith's pumpkin is rotting and not carved, Homsar submitted an eggplant with a spoon taped to it, and Marzipan didn't even carve hers.
- Orphaned Punchline: This exchange.Coach Z: I mean the first one was great. After the second one, they really fell orf. I mean, a pajama jammie-jam?
Strong Sad: I rarely know what you're talking about. - The Points Mean Nothing: Homestar ranks the pumpkins in a seemingly random manner, and with rankings like "worst place", "good prize", "not last place", and "most improved". He also ranks two pumpkins (three if you count Homsar's) as "last place".Marzipan: Well, who won? I think your rating system is questionable.
- Record Needle Scratch: A needle-scratch sound occurs near the end, when Marzipan complains that she can't figure out who won the pumpkin-carving contest thanks to Homestar's questionable rating system.
- Running Gag: The phrase "Witches' brew" keeps popping up for some reason.
- Saying Sound Effects Out Loud: Homestar makes lighting and thunder sound effects in place of actual Dramatic Thunder. He also accompanies each ribbon he hands out with "Ding!".
- Shout-Out:
- Coach Z's pumpkin is carved into the shape of the symbol for the Wu-Tang Clan.
- Homestar misidentifies Strong Bad as The Green Hornet.
- Bubs and The King of Town's costumes compliment each other, as Lou Albano voiced Mario in The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!.
- Twist Ending: Strong Bad was actually disguised as Homestar the whole time, while the Goblin from Homestarloween Party was disguised as Strong Bad.
- Unwinnable Joke Game: An Easter egg features a "game" of Super Kingio Bros where it's impossible to get past the first enemy because the King of Town can't jump properly.King: My life is a joke.
- Yank the Dog's Chain: Homestar greets Pom Pom all friendly-like ("What's up my main man? My dog! My ace in the hole!"), but only gives him second place.
