Go To

  • All Men Are Perverts: In a choice between traveling with Hercules and leaving with the 50 Daughters of King Thespius, Salmoneus knows there's only one option.
Salmoneus: A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do!
  • All Women Are Lustful: The 50 daughters of King Thespius sure are
  • An Aesop: The first of many many “bullying is bad” messages on this show
  • Bait-and-Switch: The episode opens with Hercules running for dear life. As he stops to catch his breath, we see he's being pursued by 50 very lustful women.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: The reason the cyclops works with the villain of the week.
  • Celibate Hero: Hercules when he finally has enough of the 50 Daughters of King Thespius pursuing him. What he says ends up deeply touching them.
Hercules: Now, ladies, no matter what you think, Im not opposed to pretty women. And— I’m not opposed to having children, but if I'm going to become a father again, the mother will be someone that I love. And I-I don't love any of you. I mean, I like to look at you, and I-I... I might even like to talk to you, if I didn't feel like I was always the fox, and you were the hounds, but that's as far as my interest goes. I hope ya understand. I hope King Thespius understands.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Salmoneus would rather do whatever he can to help Hercules than stand on the sidelines with bigoted villagers.
  • Honor Before Reason: The villagers loathe the cyclops so much that they refuse to help him and Hercules fight Hera's Executioners.
  • Kavorka Man: The 50 Daughters of King Thespius take a real liking to Salmoneus, and he gladly leaves with them.
  • No Guy Wants to Be Chased: Especially by 50 very amorous women who all expect to be impregnated.
  • No Name Given: The eponymous cyclops is only ever referred to as that. None of the 50 Daughters get named, either.
  • Not Helping Your Case: Atreus is outraged that Hercules passed up a chance to kill the cyclops and balks at claims that it was the villagers treating him like an outcast that led to this situation.
Atreus: Is that what that freak told you?
Scilla: Listen to yourself, Atreus. You're answering your own question.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: As a child, the cyclops genuinely tried to befriend the villagers, only to be ridiculed as a freak and harassed.
Cyclops: You get tired of it, after a while.
