Disco Bear feels too big to boogie down and tries to pack some poundage.
"Ipso Fatso" contains the following:
- An Arm and a Leg: Lumpy loses an arm trying to stop his runaway wheelchair.
- Bookends: The episode starts and ends with a display of Disco Bear's weight.
- Brick Joke: At the beginning of the episode, we see Lumpy accidentally fall over and break his back. Later in the episode, we see that he's in a wheelchair and wearing a neck brace.
- Cruel and Unusual Death:
- Sniffles is run over by Disco Bear's treadmill, tearing him apart. Cub suffers the same fate.
- Toothy is decapitated by a barbell.
- Russell and Nutty are sliced into pieces by shards of glass.
- Handy's entire face is removed when a slab of concrete hits him.
- Cuddles' body is forced into a small hole, leaving a small bloody cylinder in the other end.
- Lumpy is fatally slammed into a stone wall.
- Disco Bear is decapitated by a power line.
- A Day In The Lime Light: Aside from his debut, this is the first instance where Disco Bear is the focus character, as any prior episode starring him placed him in a secondary role, mainly as a brief antagonist.
- Diet Episode: For Disco Bear.
- Downer Ending: Disco Bear kills several people and gets beheaded by a power line, but at least he lost some weight.
- Establishing Character Moment: Disco Bear being a Casanova Wannabe.
- Hidden Depths: Disco Bear seems to suffer from low self-esteem at times.
- Off with His Head!: Toothy and Disco Bear's deaths.
- Overly Long Gag: Lumpy trying to find a safe area to step on the cafe.
- Running Gag: Character deaths involving their head.
- Smart Ball: Lumpy actually sees the stuff he's about to trip over before stepping. Too bad it doesn't help him from falling back and breaking his spine on Disco Bear's bike.
- Squashed Flat: Sniffles and Cub get run over and crushed by Disco Bear's runaway treadmill.
- Stealth Pun: The title is a pun on the Latin phrase "ipso facto".
- They Killed Kenny Again: Sniffles, Toothy, Nutty, Russell, Handy, Cub, Cuddles, Lumpy, and Disco Bear die in this episode.
- Throw the Dog a Bone: Giggles, Petunia, Lifty, Shifty, Cro-Marmot, Flaky, and The Mole survive this episode. Moreover, Lifty and Shifty score one of their only victories in the entire franchise.
- Weight Loss Salad: While ordering breakfast at the café, Disco Bear eyes a menu full of heavy foods like pancakes and bacon. He then remembers his pot belly and grabs a single banana out of the fruit bowl instead.
