When a man is found dead with all of the bones in his body seemingly liquefied and removed, Nick and Hank find themselves in the middle of a gruesome family arrangement.
Meanwhile, Wu deals with a crisis of his own and Hank reunites with his old flame, Zuri.
This episode provides examples of:
- Apologetic Attacker: Charlie Higginbotham, the Wesen who kills people by running them over then sucking out their liquified bones. He tells each of them he's sorry for what he has to do, but has no other choice. Turns out he's feeding the liquified bones to his parents, who rely on him to avoid starvation.
- Asshole Victim: The first victim was injured in a car crash, having gone through the windshield after crashing his car while drunk. This wasn't his first DUI but it was definitely his last.
- The Bus Came Back: Zuri, Hank's physiotherapist last seen in "Eyes of the Beholder", returns to ask him on a date.
- Butt-Monkey: Monroe, who gets roped into an undercover op that involves being doused in an unbelievably foul-smelling substance. The plan gets derailed when Wu's injury makes the Barbatus Ossifrage go for him instead, making Nick and Hank run to his rescue, leaving Monroe lying alone on the grass with the hideous smell. After, he has to take a cab home because Nick and Hank refuse to have him in their car.
- Call-Back: Eve stops by the Spice Shop to talk with Rosalee about Adalind's powers returning and her talk with Adalind in "Inugami".
- Cruel and Unusual Death: The victims of the Barbatus Ossifrage. He homes in on people who already have potentially-fatal wounds, then runs them over to break their bones while they're still alive then sucks their liquified bones out through their mouth.
- Internal Reveal: Eve sees an alert that two HW agents are dead and the asset they were guarding is missing. The asset is Diana.
- Laser-Guided Karma: After killing people by running them over, Charlie is hit by a truck while running from Nick and Hank.
- Oh, Crap!: Charlie tries to intimidate the two cops chasing him by woging, only to discover that not only are they not afraid of him, one of them's a Grimm. While running away, he gets hit by a truck and dies.
- Tap on the Head: Wu is distracted by a dog that growls at him, causing an involuntary woge where he chases the dog and ends up hitting his head. This proves to be the Spanner in the Works that derails the undercover operation as the Barbatus Ossifrage comes after Wu instead of Monroe.
- That Man Is Dead: Played with. Rosalee mentions Eve's If You Ever Do Anything To Hurt Him talk with Adalind. Eve asks if Rosalee has a problem with that, to which Rosalee replies that it's what she'd have said.Rosalee: [After Eve leaves] ...If I were Juliette.
