EVANGELION: Bonds of Phantasmal Blue

In response to the growing number of nepsis in Hitakami Island, the crew of the Grandcypher is given a request by a group called the Special Government Agency NERV. Despite being called as such, the crew has no recollection of such an organization existing, with rumors suggesting there were originally a simple defense force that diversified into managing all aspects of the island. What's meant to be a simple research operation on the nepsis would turn into a mystery as one such member of NERV notes how the organization has been behaving rather differently.

  • Amnesia Missed a Spot: Most of NERV's memories are changed so that they're unable to remember anything about Evas or anything related to them... until an Eva is actually found. While Mari is fortunate enough to have her memories intact, she's still affected in that she cannot say anything about the circumstances behind it.
  • Crossover: With Neon Genesis Evangelion, specifically the Rebuild of Evangelion movie series due to Mari's presence, Asuka's full name being Asuka Shikinami Langley instead of the mainline's Asuka Langley Soryu and the 10th Angel's appearance coming from those series.
  • Double Entendre: As Mari cannot relay the crew what her actual plans are, she sometimes has to use double speak to lead them on. Prime example is her framing the search for Unit 08 as a "treasure hunt".
  • Forgot About Their Powers: Justified in that NERV's memories have been modified to remove all of their knowledge about the Evas.
  • Lost Voice Plot: Zigzagged. Mari is able to speak normally, yet is forced to clam up whenever she tries to talk about how the entirety of NERV's memories are affected and how she plans to solve them.
  • Revealing Cover-Up: While Mari cannot say that NERV's memories are modified by a primal beast, the crew's usage of proper questioning allows them to use Mari's silence as confirmation anyway.
