When Selina finds herself trapped in Arkham Asylum, Bruce, Gordon, and Lucius head off to the madhouse in order to rescue her. Meanwhile, Hugo Strange continues his twisted experiments at Indian Hill, and successfully resurrects another person: Fish Mooney, who not only has all her memories intact, she now bears mysterious superpowers that allow her to force anyone into doing her bidding.

  • A God Am I: Firefly believes that she's a goddess of fire.
  • Back from the Dead: Thanks to Hugo Strange, Fish Mooney is alive and well again, with her original memories and identity intact. Plus, she's got superpowers.
  • Call-Back:
    • When Fish is demanding to know where she is, she asks if she's on an island, referencing her time as a prisoner of the Dollmaker last season.
    • Firefly does get a brief memory flash, of killing her brothers.
  • Compelling Voice: Fish's new superpower, which seems to be activated by touch.
  • Deadly Gas: Nygma threatens Bruce and Lucius with this.
  • Disappointed in You: When Alfred calls out Bruce for telling Selina to infiltrate Arkham.
  • Don't Make Me Destroy You: Strange begs Bruce to allow him to continue his experiments or he'll have to kill Bruce too. To Strange's own dismay, Bruce made the same choice as Thomas.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Strange claims to have genuinely cared for Thomas Wayne, and to regret having had him killed.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: It's revealed that Arc Villain Hugo Strange is under the allegiance of an even bigger threat: the Court of Owls.
  • Identity Impersonator: Basil is set up to be this for Jim Gordon.
  • "I Know You're in There Somewhere" Fight: Selina attempts to snap Bridget out of the Firefly identity by reminding her of their shared past. She has some minor success, but not enough to bring Bridget back to her old self.
  • I'm a Humanitarian: After his escape attempt, Nygma is locked up with Stirk, presumably Cornelius Stirk from the comics.
  • Lock-and-Load Montage: A very brief one when Harvey puts together a strike force to storm Arkham and rescue Gordon, Bruce and Fox.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • When Strange captures Bruce and Lucius, he leaves them at the mercy of Edward Nygma, who locks them in a gas chamber-like death trap bathed in green light, and taunts them mercilessly over a loudspeaker. Fans of the Arkham games should be quite familiar with this kind of situation.
    • Strange turns out to be working for the Court of Owls, which would indicate that his experiments to raise the dead are related to the Talons, the Court's undead super soldiers.
    • "Basil" is obviously Basil Karlo, the first Clayface.
    • Fish Mooney's new power that enables her to make people obey her is one of the powers frequently associated with Poison Ivy in the Batman franchise.
    • Strange referring to the Wayne's murder as a random and meaningless crime can be seen as one as the Mugger who killed Thomas and Martha really was random and has gone unsolved to this day in the comics (outside non-canon sources or Wordof God).
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • Selina says this word-for-word when she sees that Firefly is completely immune to fire.
    • Peabody is visibly terrified when the Court contacts her and Strange.
  • The Reveal: Strange is working for the Court of Owls.
  • Storming the Castle: Alfred and Harvey gather a strike force to storm Arkham near episode's end.
  • This Is for Emphasis, Bitch!: When Strange attempts to convince Fish that she is a war goddess named Andraste, she makes it damn clear that she remembers exactly who she is.
Fish Mooney: I said my name is Fish Mooney, bitch. And you better tell me what the hell is going on.
  • Villain Team-Up: Nygma talks his way into Strange's service, pointing out that he has useful experience dealing with Gordon.
  • Wham Line: Especially for those versed in the comics: "Strange is losing control. We need to gather the Court." Followed by a Wham Shot of an owl mask.
