Whatever you do, don't touch that hand!

When we last left Mario and friends, he built a wall to keep Bowser from kidnapping the princess. Looking for ways to get in, Bowser orders a mysterious magic hand wand that makes anything it touches disappear. The wand works like a charm, allowing Bowser to bypass the wall and take the princess. But he may be enjoying his victory too much as he ignores and tosses away his loyal Koopa. Angered at Bowser's neglect, he rallies up the rest of Bowser's troops and rebels against him. It doesn't end well, as Bowser makes Koopa disappear with the power of the wand. Matters were worse when Bowser accidentally makes Peach disappear as well, and in a struggle with the interfering Mario Bros., Luigi and Bowser get touched by the hand as well.

After a funeral Mario and his friends hold for Luigi, Mario looks for ways to bring him back. He fails, and they both end up where those unfortunate to touch the hands go to—the Underwhere, home to Master Hand and Crazy Hand.

Looking for a meal, the Hands manage to capture almost everyone they found in their world. But Koopa won't go down without a fight and challenges Master Hand. It was a losing battle, however, and Koopa had to recruit the other captured heroes for help. Unfortunately, Bowser seizes the opportunity and takes the hand wand, still driven by power. Master Hand sees that Bowser has the wand and shoos him away as fast as possible.

Crazy Hand then arrives and sees the "food" missing. Immediately blaming Master Hand for eating all of it, a fight ensues between the two Hands, giving Koopa just enough time to take the hand wand back from Bowser and transport everyone back home. But he couldn't save himself from the Hands, and they lock him in a cage. Fortunately, a Goomba manages to use the hand wand to put Koopa back home—at the cost of his life, as Crazy Hand takes him back and successfully eats him just after he does this.

All of the good guys have been returned to their homes, Koopa forgives Bowser for his selfish behavior, and Bowser learns to appreciate Koopa's services.

Tropes applying to Bowser and the Koopas' Staff:

  • Adaptational Villainy: The Hands here have the strangest craving for the heroes that they have captured, in contrast with the desire to simply do battle with them in their home series.
  • An Aesop: Bowser learns to treat his minions better at the end of this episode.
  • Bad Boss: This is our first glimpse of Bowser's leaning into this territory, willing to ignore and toss aside his minions, and even do away with them with his hand wand.
  • Big Bad Duumvirate: Master Hand and Crazy Hand.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Mario's reaction to the Microgoomba running into Luigi is to immediately jump on him.
  • Canon Immigrant: The Hands, who are usually more associated with Super Smash Bros. than Super Mario Bros..
  • Continuity Nod: Aside from the wall and Mario about to sing again, various characters flash back to clips from the first two episodes.
  • Damsel in Distress: Exaggerated with Peach, who manages to be a prisoner of two evil parties.
  • Darker and Edgier: This episode noticeably has a darker tone than the previous three episodes.
  • Death Is Cheap: Despite nearly every character in this episode being basically sent to Hell, almost all of them make it home in one piece. Then again, the hand wand was apparently the only way to get home, and without it, it may not be so cheap after all.
  • A Day in the Limelight: For Koopa, who has pulled off some surprisingly heroic feats in this episode.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Before Kamek's debut in Luigi's Quest, we hear Bowser talking on the phone to his voice from Mario Super Sluggers, making it likely that the one who gave Bowser the wand in the first place was Kamek.
  • Easily Forgiven: Koopa forgives Bowser rather easily for basically killing him.
  • Enemy Mine: Koopa is forced to work with the Mario Bros. to escape the wrath of the Hands. Bowser, however, is not interested, and wants his hand wand back.
  • Et Tu, Brute?: How Koopa felt when Bowser tossed him aside.
  • The Fourth Wall Will Not Protect You: In The Stinger, Master Hand uses the magic hand staff to poof the viewers out of existence.
  • Hell: The Underwhere.
  • Hilarious Outtakes: Averted. This episode does not have any outtakes at the end.
  • Karma Houdini: The Hands don't get any comeuppance for nearly eating everyone they've captured, as well as successfully eating that one Goomba. Probably because escaping from their wrath is more important.
  • Killed Offscreen: Goomzilla has confirmed that Crazy Hand has succeeded in eating the Goomba that teleported Koopa back home.
  • Knight of Cerebus: The Hands, the first of a fair share in the Goomzilla series.
  • Naked People Are Funny: Giant Pantsless Luigi. Enough said.
  • No Honor Among Thieves: The two Hands fight when Crazy Hand accuses Master Hand of eating all their "food".
  • Sequel Episode: To A Day in the Life of Mario.
  • Shock and Awe: Master Hand needed a cord to power himself up, but Crazy Hand could charge himself without the need of one, obviously.
  • Suddenly Speaking: Goomzilla voices the pizza delivery guy, but we would have to wait until Mario's Quest for proper dialogue.
  • Sympathy for the Devil: Peach was quite shocked when Bowser makes Koopa disappear.
  • The Starscream: Koopa, briefly. It doesn't end well.
  • To Be Continued: This is the first Goomzilla video split into multiple parts.
  • Training from Hell: One Goomba goes through intense workouts to fight Mario. It doesn't work.
  • Vader Breath: Goomzilla voices very heavy breathing for the Hands.

And so, the princess has been rescued from the two evil hands. Koopa has forgiven Bowser for his selfish behavior. And Bowser, no longer power-driven, remembers the importance of having Koopa as a servant. Koopa has acted very bravely.
