Will You Be My Lorelai Gilmore?
Rory is arranging Lane's baby shower. Mrs. Kim won't come because Lane won't raise her kids strictly Christian. Lorelai teaches Lane the verbal acrobatics necessary to get along with someone like Mrs. Kim. Logan is bummed about losing all that money and comes home drunk. Liz and T.J. try to sell Luke's boat. Luke realizes he's boring and predictable like his father. Lane is convinced she will be an extremely liberal mother. She asks Rory to be her children's Lorelai.
Kirk buys Luke's boat and names it Lurk. Luke buys another boat.
Tropes
- Bait-and-Switch: April tells Luke she wants to read him a story she wrote for class when they had to make up a story about someone they knew. For a moment we think she means Luke, but she says she chose Kirk. It's hilarious.
- Blatant Lies: T.J. and Liz deny trying to sell Luke's boat without asking him while he is waving their newspaper ad in their faces.
- Captain Obvious: Lane's never been in labor prior to her first pregnancy.
- Comically Missing the Point:
- Kirk thinks he won a negotiation with Luke over the boat because, although he has to pay asking price, Luke throws in a worthless gadget.
- Zach isn't sure what a customer means by "steel-cut oats", so reports to Luke that the guy wants some kind of steel oatmeal.
- Kirk wonders if a baby shower is a party where you dress up as a baby.
- Dissimile: Rory thinks you need two onseies to decorate for each guest because the first pancake is always ruined. Lorelai points out that anything you put on a onesie is cute, even if it's alligators or screwdrivers.
- Embarrassing Nickname: "Got kicked out of Argentina with the Bush twins" Colin and Finn.
- Feminine Women Can Cook: Rory can in fact cook, at least compared to her mother. Lorelai wants to sign her up for Top Chef.
- Full-Name Ultimatum: Mrs. Kim has use this on Lane before, but now she calls her "Lane van Gerbig".
- Hidden Depths: Apparently Lulu loves water skiing.
- Portmanteau: Kirk buys a boat from Luke and combines their names into a name for the boat: Lurk.
- Product Placement: Lane and Lorelai talk at length about how you can get fried shrimp at Red Lobster for reduced price.
- Luke and April talk at length about Disney World.
- Pun: Logan's phone is on "off". Heks drunk and repeats it to make sure Rory gets it.

- Lorelai doesn't want to go all A Beautiful Mind on Rory.
- Charles Dickens got started in newspapers, like Kirk with wants ads.
- Lorelai points out that Lane's mom didn't expect a kid who loves Jane's Addiction.
- The Bible is very important to Mrs. Kim.
- Lorelai learns that Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat left out an important part of the story, where Joseph's brothers sold him into slavery.
- Zach is cool with Lane's bedrest because they can be like John Lennon and Yoko Ono.
