Recap / Gilligans Island S 3 E 13 And Then There Were None

Go To

Sinister events appear to be afoot on the island as the castaways begin to disappear one by one. Has one of them snapped thanks to island madness, or the answer something else just beneath their noses?

This episode includes examples of the following tropes:

  • Dream Sequence: Gilligan hits himself on the head and has a dream about being Dr. Gilligan, on trial for allegations that he is Mr. Hyde, and being defended by Mary Poppins (aka Mrs. Howell) and a "poor cockney flower girl" (Mary Ann).
  • Hearing Voices: The other castaways, having realized they've fallen down a munitions pit and only Gilligan is left above ground, begin yelling to him. He thinks they're haunting him because he killed them.
  • Hypocritical Humor: The judge (played by Mr. Howell) gives a long spiel about the assumption of the defendant's innocence until his guilt is proven in a court of law...and then asks where "the filthy killer" is.
  • Loved by All: The trope is name-dropped in a newspaper article on Dr. Gilligan during the dream sequence, which runs a photo with the caption "Couldn't you just kiss him?"
  • Produce Pelting: Invoked; Gilligan scares Mary Ann and Ginger while they're bringing in fruit for a meal, hoping that they'll throw some of the food they're carrying and he can get a snack. It backfires when they pelt him harder after he pulls off the mask and smugly thanks them.
  • Shout-Out:
  • That Was Objectionable: When the judge asks where "the filthy killer" (Gilligan) is, his lawyer, Mary Poppins, says that he's right here. Gilligan objects, and the lawyer says he can't object to her.
  • Trauma Button Ending: At the end of the episode, Mary Ann and Ginger are laughing over the sillier aspects of Gilligan's nightmare when a ghastly-faced figure startles them. It's Gilligan, trying to get some food thrown at him.
