Recap / Generator Rex S 1 E 10 The Forgotten

Go To

Rex, Six, Bobo and a Providence team are trapped in the city of Kiev, which has been overrun with EVOs and sealed away from the rest of the world.

  • A Day in the Limelight: The episode prominently shows that the soldiers of Providence are more than just cannon fodder, with the five members contributing to the groups survival.

  • Everybody Lives: Rex manages to get himself, Bobo, Six, and the crashed Providence team out of The Bug Jar safely without suffering a scratch.

  • Everything but the Girl: Dr. Holiday asks for Rex to collect some Nanite samples while within The Bug Jar; enticing him with a dinner date if he succeeds in collecting them for her. Rex manages to collect several samples of Bug Jar Nanites along with securing the Data Rod for White Knight and saving the Providence team that was originally shot down trying to retrieve said Data Rod. In the midst of his duel with No-Face and his EVOs, Rex had no other choice but to use the sample pack to stun No-Face long enough for him to escape. While Rex did all of the other objectives; it still cost him the chance for a dinner date.

  • Exact Words: While sent in initially to retrieve the Data Rod and succeeds in it, when approaching White Knight for debriefing, he says that he doesn't have the Data Rod and that he managed to get the team out safely. When White chews Rex out for this and stating that Providence Soldiers are expendable, Rex simply points out that he didn't have the Data Rod: cue the team holding up the Data Rod and presenting it to White Knight.
    Rex: I said I didn't have it.

  • Foreshadowing: No-Face is seen briefly in the beginning of the episode cataloging the fall of Kiev, hinting that he would become a prominent figure in the episode due to his more humanoid appearance.

  • MacGuffin: The Data Rod serves as the object that kickstarted the plot of the episode. Providence seeks it in order to use it in a device that could accurately predict what kind of EVO a person or animal could transform into. No-Face uses it as a way to lure in Providence ships to shoot them down and find a way to escape from the Bug Jar.

  • Mauve Shirt: Beasley and Wade, two Providence pilots that feature prominently in this episode.

  • Noodle Incident: Bobo implies that he was in Kiev some point before it became The Bug Jar.
Bobo Haha: Had the chicken, no big loss if you ask me.

  • Shout-Out: While entering the room for briefing, Bobo is reading a newspaper and laughing at supposedly a Garfield strip
Bobo Haha: What will that cat do next?

  • Trapped Behind Enemy Lines: Rex, Bobo, and Six enter Kiev to retrieve five members of Providence that were shot down to retrieve a Data Rod. When Rex, Six, and Bobo go in to retrieve the Data Rod; they too get shot down.

  • What Measure Is a Mook?: Rex spends the episode tracking down and saving the Providence soldiers trapped inside of The Bug Jar and bringing them home safely, despite the fact that White Knight says that it was a secondary priority to retrieving the Data Rod.

"Every choice has a cost, kid."
