  • Story Arc: Avalon Mystic Tour
  • Characters: Goliath, Elisa, Angela, and Bronx
  • Enemy(ies): Nokkar

The world tourists arrive on Easter Island and encounter an alien sentry named Nokkar, who is stubbornly convinced that the gargoyles are alien enemies of Earth. Elisa has her memory temporarily wiped by Nokkar, but is still loyal to her friends. This convinces Nokkar of his misjudgment. Elisa convinces Nokkar to make new friends to stand by him as he keeps watch on Earth.

This Episode contains the following Tropes:

  • Alternate Landmark History: Did you know the moai were modeled on an alien soldier who is protecting our world from the ravages of an evil empire from beyond our solar system?
  • Brainwashed: This is what Nokkar believes Elisa to be, so he subjects her to a mind-cleanse that should destroy any subversive conditioning and causes temporary amnesia. The fact that she still instinctively feels the gargoyles aren't evil makes him realize that she's Not Brainwashed.
  • The Bus Came Back: Lydia Duane and Arthur Morwood-Smyth appear for the first time since their introduction in "A Lighthouse in the Sea of Time".
  • Continuity Nod: At least a few are made to the events of "Avalon", namely Elisa having used up her ammunition in the battle against the Archmage and meeting King Arthur while there.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: Nokkar uses his advanced technology to induce temporary amnesia on Elisa with the intent of erasing what he believes are her false memories of the gargoyles as her friends (she is told that her true memories will return in a few days). Elisa is then understandably freaked out by her first post-mindwipe encounter with Goliath. Fortunately, her gun isn't loaded when she pulls it on him. This in turn is the key for Goliath figuring out that something is wrong with Elisa's memory, as she not only didn't recognize him but she also didn't know her gun was empty, a condition that had existed for at least a month in-story at the time.
  • Leave No Survivors: Nokkar's orders don't allow for him to take prisoners, hence he tries to execute the gargoyles when he thinks they're enemy soldiers. At least he chose a painless setting.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: In this case, Nokkar was unaware of the existence of any sentient species native to Earth aside from humans, which led him to mistakenly assume that the gargoyles were alien servants of the Space-Spawn who somehow got past him. As Word of God elaborates, all his equipment is aimed outwards to look for approaching Space-Spawn; he's not scanning the lifeforms on the planet, and so was just as in the dark about gargoyles and the Third Race as humans themselves are. invoked
  • Mistaken Identity: In this case, Nokkar has mistaken the Manhattan Clan gargoyles for agents of a race of beings known as the "Space-Spawn".
  • Out-of-Genre Experience: Though the show has always had sci-fi elements, this episode crossed into full-on Space Opera territory, complete with alien warriors and references to a massive intergalactic war... which was never mentioned again. Word of God says that this was meant to be a setup for a far-future spinoff, Gargoyles 2198, where the Space-Spawn invade future Earth and Goliath's descendant Samson leads the resistance against them, which so far hasn't come to fruition. invoked
