Battle Royale

Chapter 1

    Season 1: First Flight
Season 1 ran from October 24 to December 13, 2017, featuring a Season Shop system instead of a Battle Pass, primitive weapons, a lack of massive locations and the first Limited Time Mode, 50v50. Season 1 also hosted the first "Fortnitemares" event, featuring themed cosmetics and weapons. Due to its then-status as a spin-off mode to the main game, the first few seasons of Chapter 1 had very little story-wise as the game gradually found its footing.
  • Added Alliterative Appeal: This season began the trend of alliterative locations, such as "Pleasant Park", "Dusty Depot", "Moisty Mire" and "Fatal Fields".
  • Advancing Wall of Doom: This season introduced the Storm, which is quite literally a deadly wall that pushes player to a specific zone.
  • Armor-Piercing Attack: Shields don't protect players from stink bombs, fall damage, fire damage, and storm damage.
  • The Artifact: A lot of stuff originally from Save the World completely loses any context in Battle Royale - anything to do with the Storm and Vindertech, for example, along with leftover images of Husks.
  • Awesome, but Impractical: Ironically, building huge forts from whole cloth is this. You'd need to mine the necessary materials, and then build whatever you want, all while at the risk of being spotted and shot down by enemies who happen to be nearby, with that big thing under construction being a blatant giveaway that there's someone waiting to be killed. And even once your dream fort is done and fortified to withstand an enemy assault, there's the high possibility that it'll get swallowed up by the storm anyway, rendering your efforts moot. Big forts see a bit more use in 50v50 and other large-team modes, where each team has clearly-marked sides and can help protect teammates on the frontlines.
  • A Winner Is You: If you or your team manages to be the last one(s) standing, all you'll see is just the message "#1 Victory Royale!"
  • Battle Royale Game: 100 players (optionally grouped up into teams of two, three or four) drop onto an island and are tasked with seeking out weapons and eliminating each other. Last one standing wins.
  • Bloodless Carnage: No blood or bruises come out of the person's body after they have been shot or exploded. When one is eliminated, they are teleported out of the island.
  • Body Armor as Hit Points: Shields can protect the player's health from enemy attacks, though they don't reduce fall, storm or burn damage.
  • Boring, but Practical:
    • Wood constructs may not be as durable as stone or metal, but they build the fastest and material for them is by far the most common. Even a single wooden wall can spell the difference between life and death; as long as it has any health left, it can stop a hit that would've otherwise killed you.
    • Ammo boxes may not have the useful support items and weapons that chests and supply crates carry, but they're always worth looting to keep your weapons stocked.
  • Character Customization: The game has granted more customization to players as time passes.
  • Clown Car: The Battle Bus holds up to 100 combatants. A standard American school bus, which makes up the primary component of the Battle Bus, can seat up to roughly 60 adult passengers. Granted, it's likely that the remaining combatants are standing inside the bus or sitting on its floor, but especially considering that they're carrying pickaxes, gliders, and optional Back Bling, that bus is practically a pocket dimension.
  • Controllable Helplessness: If your character reaches 0 health while playing Duos or Squads, they'll be knocked down and can only crawl slowly until their second health bar runs out, are revived, or if all squad members get knocked down.
  • Cosmetic Award: Technically, all of the rewards you can earn by leveling up your passes are simply cosmetic items that offer no gameplay advantage. If you won a match in Season 1, you were rewarded with a blue umbrella glider.
  • Critical Existence Failure: An interesting case applies to buildings: when part of a building is disconnected completely from the ground, that part will abruptly self-destruct, leaving behind no debris or even construction materials.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: Putting aside the seasonal skins (Halloween and Christmas-themed such as Ghoul Trooper), most of the early outfits were regular humans with military clothing.
  • Flying Car: The Battle Bus is an improvised example, made out of a blue school bus with a hot air balloon attached to it.
  • Follow the Chaos: Other than the noise of loud gunfire or footsteps, seeing a clutter of items and built structures outside of named locales signifies a battle has happened there already.
  • Holiday Mode: In addition to themed outfits that made debuts around the holidays they were made for (such as Chinese-themed outfits for the Chinese New Year and the Cuddle Team Leader for Valentine's Day), certain holidays also bring changes with them, typically including a weapon swap (Halloween brought with it a Jack-o-Lantern rocket launcher, and Easter swapped the regular grenade launcher for one that shot giant bouncy eggs).
  • Lighter and Softer: Battle Royale contains none of the dark undertones of Save the World, even going so far as to imply the island itself is nowhere near as violent as the game makes it out to be.
  • Metagame: The building part of the game used to not have nearly as much effect on the fighting, as it took a while to build things due to only being able to move to the right on the building select list. If you could build a staircase with a wall in front you were golden, and other than that building was mainly used to get around. As the seasons went on, eventually "build battles" started, in which players in a fight spam building pieces to try and get the high ground on each other and take potshots when they get a chance, basically mandating a switch to the Builder Pro control scheme in order to keep up and making people invest time into learning how to constantly swap between building and weapons on the fly.
  • Mobile Shrubbery: The Bush item, introduced part-way through Season 1, disguises the player (unsurprisingly) as a bush until they take some damage.
  • Never Say "Die": As stated below in Non-Lethal K.O., nobody actually dies in Battle Royale, so the word "elimination" is used instead of "kill" to denote defeated players.
  • Non-Lethal K.O.: Implied when a player is eliminated, adding to the lighthearted nature of the game. Nobody sheds a drop of blood at any point, and instead of leaving a corpse, a teleporter of sorts whisks their body out of the island, leaving behind only the items they had. When the player returns to the lobby, the same teleporter puts the player back on the lobby pedestal, none worse for the wear.
  • Not the Fall That Kills You…: Falling from a great height damages you, and it is possible to kill someone by blasting away the floor from under their feet. Oh, and don't think that sliding down a cliff will negate the fall damage, because it will still apply in full force. Building floors while sliding down said cliff can help.
  • Parasol Parachute: These are an alternative to gliders, with the player able to earn a new one by winning their first non-large team based match in a season. Strangely, despite appearing to be made entirely out of metal, they float just as well as normal gliders do.
  • Puny Parachute: Gliders, even the "full-sized" ones that aren't parasols, really are way too small to do what they do.
  • Riding the Bomb: Players can take a risk and jump onto a rocket fired by their teammate as it flies through the air and ride on it to shoot people from above while looking cool.
  • Rocket-Tag Gameplay: Battles are very ambush heavy, as it doesn't take much for even basic weapons to drain your health quickly. Add in stuff like rocket launchers, grenades and other assortments of insane legendary weapons, the end of each match usually comes down to whoever is better at movement/building quickly.
  • Short-Range Shotgun: While the pump and tactical fit this bill well, the crown goes to the double barrel shotgun, which is capable of dealing damage in the 120s but only if you're close enough to kiss your enemy.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: Grenades, Remote Explosives, Clingers, Stink Bombs, Grenade Launchers, and Rocket Launchers do great damage to those in the vicinity of the explosion.
  • Toilet Humour:
    • The gas station chain is called Pass 'N' Gas. Passing gas, as in farting.
    • One of the areas is called Flush Factory. It's a factory dedicated solely to manufacturing toilets.
  • Virtual Paper Doll: You can customize your character's appearance in several aspects, such as their outfit, modifications to said outfit, and on-the-back items (known as "Back Bling").

    Season 2: Fort Knights
Season 2 ran from December 14, 2017 to February 21, 2018, introducing a 70-tier Battle Pass, and several new limited-time events and items. While the map was pretty simple at first much like Season 1, a mid-season update during Season 2 introduced biomes along with many points of interest and landmarks, including Haunted Hills, Snobby Shores, and Tilted Towers.
  • Freemium: Downplayed with the Battle Pass. The Free Pass includes sparse rewards for every couple of tiers passed while the actual Battle Pass has a new reward per tier. Buying a Battle Pass gives the player all rewards from previous tiers and playing the game for a good amount time will net enough V-Bucks for the next season's Battle Pass. Also, none of the rewards have any gameplay benefits, so the only point is to make yourself stylish.
  • Holiday Mode: The holiday season each year adds Christmas tree lights to all the bushes (including the disguise), adds holiday themed decorations to certain houses on the map, replaces certain minor landmarks with Christmas trees that could have chests under them, reskins the Battle Bus from blue to red and green with wreathes, replaces the Bus's balloon with a Santa-shaped one, changes the Bus's usual club beats to a slow, melodic carol-esque song, and makes the grenade launcher shoot exploding snowman heads.
  • Involuntary Dance: The Boogie Bomb that was added this season forces those who were hit (including yourself and your teammates) to dance for a few seconds at the cost of not being able to do anything but move and jump.
  • Knight in Shining Armor: A lot of the Battle Pass outfits this season were knights, to tie in with the medieval theme present during this season.
  • Parasol Parachute: The umbrella reward this season was a snowflake-themed umbrella, appropriately named "Snowflake".
  • Trick Bomb: The Boogie Bomb causes those caught up in its blast radius to start dancing on the spot for five seconds, or until they take damage.

    Season 3: Intergalactic
Season 3 ran from February 22, 2018 to April 30, 2018, introducing a 100-tier Battle Pass, and a new location known as "Lucky Landing". As the end of Season 3 approached, a meteor was sighted in the sky, far from the island. With each passing day, the meteor grew closer as people theorized about which area of the map was about to be hit. In the final days of the season, small meteorites began to rain down during matches, damaging any structure or combatant unlucky enough to be in their path.

    Season 4: Brace For Impact
Season 4 ran from May 1 to July 11, 2018, introducing an additional eighth secret outfit to the Battle Pass structure, and gave players a weekly storyline to follow.

Season 4 was the season that kicked the story off. The meteor obliterated Dusty Depot and the surrounding area, while fragments that broke off of it hit the motel, a building in Tilted Towers, and the newly introduced Risky Reels, leaving behind Hop Rocks; consumables that when consumed, gave you low gravity effects. As the impact happened, a romance film was being shot in Moisty Mire.

When one meteoroid hits a nearby prison, a superhero flick begins production, taking advantage of the meteors the just hit the island. In this new film, Omega escapes from the Moisty Mire prison to gather his allies for a massive showdown between him and Carbide. Among the set pieces are a mansion for the heroes and a villainous lair, themed after Omen, with a fully-sized prop rocket.

As the weeks passed by, lesser impacts were cleaned up and a lab was built around the main meteorite in the newly formed Dusty Divot. As the season progressed, it became apparent that this meteor wasn't just any old meteor. The meteorite in the center of the lab started to crumble away, revealing a capsule that soon broke open.

From this capsule emerged the Visitor. His intentions unknown, he modified the giant prop rocket in Omen's base into an actual rocket capable of warping across long distances. On the tenth week of Season 4, the Visitor boarded the rocket and lifted off. The rocket works, and soon warps away with the Visitor; but not before forming an enormous dimensional rift in the sky.

Though it already spanned the length of the entire island, the rift continued to grow bigger with each passing day. Several smaller rifts formed near notable signage on the map, including the Durrr Burger mascot in Greasy Grove, the rotating tomato head in Tomato Town, and the motel sign. One by one, signs around the island were rifted away to unknown locations.

That is, they were all unknown except for one, the Durrr Burger mascot. In the leadup to Season 5, an independent photographer in California discovered the head in the middle of the desert while scouting for photoshoot locations. At the same time, several Loot Llamas began appearing in various cities across Europe. While in Real Life the mascot was sectioned off (something about a massive subterranean crack in the earth underneath the mascot), the interpretation of the event in the story didn't have nearly as much security.

  • Alternate Reality Game: The Season 4 prelude subverted this with a Red Herring as well. When attempting to make a spectrogram of the ambient noise produced by the large meteor, it would simply display the frames for the "Take the L" dance.
  • Ascended Meme: The "Orange Justice" emote from this season's Battle Pass, a dance based on a Boogie Down contestant’s entry. The video went viral, resulting in the “Justice For Orange Kid” movement after he lost the contest.
  • Blatant Burglar: The Scoundrel (male) and Rapscallion (female) outfits that released this season, which both come with black pants and shoes, a black and white striped shirt, a Domino Mask, and a black beanie.
  • Book Ends: Season 4 starts and ends with the arrival of someone Trapped in Another World; the Visitor (who was inside the meteor that turned Dusty Depot into Dusty Divot) in the beginning, and Drift (who was warped from the real world to the Fortnite-verse along with the Durer Burger head) in the end.
  • Crossover: As a Guest Fighter, Thanos appeared briefly in May 2018 to coincide with Avengers: Infinity War as part of a collaboration LTM, where players can get the Infinity Gauntlet and transform into the Mad Titan.
  • Easter Egg: Dabbing continuously for 15 seconds using the “Infinite Dab” emote (Introduced this season) will cause the accompanying music to become bass boosted and heavily distorted.
  • Expy: A lot of examples of Captain Ersatz from this season's Battle Pass.
  • Interspecies Romance: Season 4's "Quiet On The Set!" loading screen depicts, among other things, Leviathan (a fish in a robotic suit) and Jungle Scout (a human woman) caressing each other. The description states that Leviathan was just puckering up for a kiss before the prison behind them was hit by a meteor.
  • Holiday Mode: The 2018 World Cup led to the broken-down houses north of Pleasant Park being replaced by a large unnamed soccer field, alongside outfits of the default characters in soccer player gear, with axes, a glider, and an emote to match.
  • Lawyer-Friendly Cameo: "Orange Justice" is allegedly the implementation of the infamous "Orange Shirt Kid's" dance after he lost the #BoogieDown contest, despite the perceived disparity in recognition and fame. In reality, it seemed to actually be one of Roy Purdy's extremely similar dances, as implementing the real dance would most likely incur legal problems from failing to enforce what is basically a contract, i.e. the terms of the contest... except for the fact that in the game files, it is named "Mask Off", and the hand movements of the dance is clearly taken from this video from June of 2017, which explains why the theme for Orange Justice is a Suspiciously Similar Song to Future's Mask Off.
  • Negative Space Wedgie: Towards the end of the season, the Visitor created an enormous dimensional rift in the sky.
  • Parasol Parachute: The umbrella reward this season was an umbrella covered in graffiti, known as "Wet Paint".
  • Pass the Popcorn: Can be invoked with an emote given as the Tier 31 item of Season 4's Battle Pass, which features your character whipping out a bucket of popcorn and tossing kernels at their face.
  • Plot Twist: In a shocking plot twist, it turns out the superhero movie we were following ended up being a Red Herring movie that was being filmed, and the real threat was the meteor in Dusty Depot.
  • Purposely Overpowered:
    • In the 'Infinity Gauntlet' limited mode, any player who gets the titular gauntlet becomes Thanos, who is just as powerful as you’d expect him to be.
  • Shopping Cart Antics: You can find and use shopping carts for faster travel. If you have teammates, one of them can ride in the basket of the cart and fire away while you push them around.
  • Spelling Bonus: One of the weekly missions for the first week of Season 4 was collecting floating letters that appeared on short-to-moderately tall surfaces to spell out "Fortnite".
  • Superhero: This season's theme.

    Season 5: Worlds Collide
Season 5 ran from July 12 to September 26, 2018, introducing toy items, golf cart vehicles and an entire desert biome. Starting 12 days after the "Blast Off" live event, a graffiti artist from the real world named Drift and his All-Terrain Kart were transported to the Fortnite island as a result of the rifts in space and time, leading to a collision of worlds.

Evidently dazed and confused, Drift is picked up by Brite Bomber, Cuddle Team Leader, and Rex, who happen to be on a road trip. While he initially has a difficult time grasping his situation, he eventually clears his mind and starts to enjoy the ride with his new friends, going on a road trip with them while consistently upgrading his outfit to the next stage in each screen.

The quartet of friends go on a clockwise trip of the island from the Durr Burger head, meeting other characters along the way. They begin by playing golf (by their own rules, which aren't mentioned besides the fact that it involves liberal use of the ATK) at Lazy Links and riding around the east coast racetrack with new friend Redline behind the wheel. They then stop at Paradise Palms, where a bunch of other people are having a pool party at the hotel. The quartet invite themselves to join in the festivities, while Drift slips on his mask on the poolside. They then continue down the road, meeting Tricera Ops at the dinosaur statues south of Paradise, where Drift (now in his robe) and Brite Bomber pose for a picture, Rex pretends to be eaten by the T. Rex statue and Cuddle Team Leader points and laughs. When the sun finally sets on the island, the crew retires to Risky Reels to catch a movie screening, along with Leviathan and Jungle Scout. Drift's mask has also begun to emit some pink lightning, but nobody pays it any mind.

Things suddenly take a turn for the bizarre when Drift (now back down to his hoodie and mask), Brite Bomber, Cuddle Team Leader and Rex head over to the motel to catch some shut-eye. As they pull up, the missing motel sign materializes out of a rift and lands on its rightful location, but with 3 mysterious new heavily-armored passengers known as the Enforcers. The quartet seems to brush the strange travelers off, as they spend the following morning exploring Tomato Temple, a landmark that had shown up about a week earlier (in terms of the game) in the place of the pizza restaurant that had been occupying Tomato Town. After that, they proceed to investigate the third weird thing that occurred as a result of the rift: the giant purple cube that had been rolling around and leaving glyphs burned on the island. Brite Bomber goes in for a closer look, and sees what appears to be an evil version of herself reflected on its surface.

The Cube, which has been affectionately dubbed 'Kevin' by the loopers, eventually makes their way to Loot Lake, leveling a building in Tilted Towers. It sinks into the ground, changing the lake into a reflective, bouncy surface.

  • All for Nothing: After a small meteor struck one of the buildings in Tilted Towers during Season 4 and destroyed it, Season 5 saw the slow reconstruction of a new building where the old one stood. Towards the end of the season, it was finally completed, only for the cube to crush it in Season 5's last week.
  • All Hail the Great God Mickey!: About halfway through Season 5, the Tomatohead reappeared... with an entire temple dedicated to it, covered in tribal markings and now worshiped by what seem to be tribal cultists wearing Pizza Pit uniforms that perform a strange ritual which involves dropping a large tomato on their heads. The structures and markings found around the temple imply that the Tomatohead was sent to the past, where it was promptly worshiped as some sort of deity.
  • Alternate Reality Game: Leading up to Season 5, a rift consumed the giant Durr Burger mascot in Greasy Grove and was later found in the middle of the Californian desert next to the car Fortnite's police cars are modeled after. An agent was stationed nearby which gave out a phone number that, in conjunction with several other audio signals distributed during the ARG, revealed the location of both the remaining rifts and several Loot Llamas placed all over Europe. Upon Season 5's release, the mascot was "returned" to the world of Fortnite, taking Drift and the All-Terrain Kart with it as well.
  • Ascended Meme: YouTuber Muselk posted a video where he attempted to rescue an enemy player named Chaperdoodle who was stuck in a low location on the map, below the build limit (where you can't build anymore) because he seemed nice enough. Due to the build limit being too low, Muselk attempted to bring an ATK down so they could bounce off of the roof to reach the staircase he had built, but in the process he accidentally hit Chaperdoodle with the ATK and sent him careening off the edge. Epic loved the video so much that they retweeted it and memorialized it ingame with a tombstone for Chaperdoodle and a set of bouncy tires to allow anyone that falls down there and has materials to build their way back up.
  • Celestial Body: The "Galaxy" outfit from this season, one of the default male outfits, gives the character it's applied to an indigo-to-violet gradient palette dotted with stars, with tow addition lights orbiting around the head.
  • Changing Gameplay Priorities: Season 5 changes the dirt racetrack on the east side of the map to a modern black tar raceway that golf carts frequently spawn at. The racetrack comes with a starting line that will time how fast you complete a lap around the course.
  • Flying Car: In the "Getaway" mode, your goal is one of four white vans that's rigged up the same way as the Battle Bus.
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: Drift was sucked into Fortnite from the real world when the Durr Burger mascot "returned" to the map. He starts improving his racing uniform, but immediately goes a different route afterwards and ends up dressing in an utterly demonic feudal Japan garb, to the point where his last evolution has his cloak emitting pink lightning. In a subversion, however, he remains friendly the whole time despite his menacing change of clothes.
  • Geo Effects: The seven runes Kevin created around the island applied low gravity to anyone who got near, as well as Kevin itself.
  • Italians Talk with Hands: While no talking is involved, the "Praise The Tomato" emote ends with both hands in a distinctly Italian pose. Literally praising the tomato.
  • Merged Reality: Theme of the season. Several realities began merging with the Island as a result of the "Blast Off" event.
  • Nitro Boost: The All-Terrain Karts have a powerslide feature. Much like in Mario Kart, maintaining a slide long enough results in a speed boost when you let go, with the boost getting more powerful the longer you drift.
  • Ominous Cube: Kevin the Cube, first appearing in Chapter 1 Season 5, spent most of its life messing with parts of the Island, before drowning in Loot Lake in September 2018.
  • Parasol Parachute: The umbrella reward this season was a beach umbrella referred to as, well, the "Beach Umbrella".
  • Pointless Band-Aid: Drift wears one next to his left eye.
  • Reclaimed by Nature: Dusty Depot was destroyed by a meteor at the end of Season 3, which then became Dusty Divot at the start of Season 4. By the start of Season 5, a fully grown forest had reclaimed the impact crater.
  • Trapped in Another World: Drift is a graffiti artist/racer from the real world who was transported to the world of Fortnite after a rift teleported the Durr Burger mascot back into the Battle Royale map. After this, he starts to take on... a different approach.

    Season 6: Darkness Rises
Season 6 ran from September 27 to December 5, 2018, introducing Cube monsters, a Quadcrasher vehicle and a competitive system.

As the purple cube ("Kevin") eventually returns to the lake, the runes left behind corrupt the area around them, spawning Shadow Stones. Kevin attaches to the bedrock of the lake and rises, creating a floating island; it moves to the runes and activates them, drawing energy out of the runes and the vortex. After absorbing the energy, Kevin shoots a purple beam into the sky and creates a huge portal, then the island explodes. Kevin's shards fall back onto the island, and Cube Monsters begin to spawn around the impact areas.

As the characters fight against the monsters, Kevin's shell slowly began to crack open. When Kevin finally cracked, it began spinning rapidly and then exploded, sending everyone to the In Between, an intra-dimensional Nexus of Realities. A rift appeared before everyone as a crystal butterfly, then recreated the world and returned everyone back to the island. Meanwhile, a robot named A.I.M. arrived on the island at Flush Factory, while an iceberg begins to appear in the southwest corner of the map.

  • Ascended Meme: invokedThe Fortnite subreddit named the Cube "Kevin" to get around an automod filter. After the November 4th, 2018 Cube explosion event, Epic put in some limited-time challenges with the reward of a Back Bling named "Lil' Kev", which is a piece of the exploded Cube. Taken further in Chapter 2 with Steamy Stacks, a power plant named Kevolution Energy which is themed around the cube.
  • Attack Its Weak Point: The Food Fight LTM places emphasis on defense as each side guards the mascot head on the top of their restaurant. It's actually a pretty large target that you can get to with just the Hand Cannon if you play your cards right.
  • Balloonacy: Introduced in November 2018 are packs of balloons that you can somehow inflate despite them not providing a gas tank. One or two will increase your jump height and act against gravity, usuallynote  negating fall damage. A third will lift you right off the ground.
  • The Cameo: Wreck-It-Ralph appears in Risky Reels' theater screen quickly running in and waving at the player before leaving. The free "Hot Marat" emote is based on a dance from the film.
  • Damn You, Muscle Memory!: An experimental update this season allowed players to re-deploy their Gliders after jumping from high places, but was removed from main game modes a few weeks later after poor reception. A lot of people died of fall damage in the days immediately following the second patch.
  • Do Not Touch the Funnel Cloud: The floating island of Season 6. Think about it, a tornado strong enough to lift an island should probably affect people a lot easier than that...
  • Drone of Dread: The T-pose emote introduced this season has these as its music, but it eventually slows down to a halt as the user tires out, but regains as the user goes back to the pose.
  • Elite Mook: The elite cube fiend, which somehow still isn't as elite as the red and yellow-glowing ones. Hope you reloaded...
  • Failed a Spot Check: The "Down On The Ranch" loading screen (Introduced this season) description states that "Llamas keep escaping their pen for some strange reason." It probably has something to do with the man wearing an inflatable llama on his waist.
  • Floating Continent:
    • Season 6 sees the primary center house part of Loot Lake lifting off into the air in a tornado and floating above the map. The tornado lifts players into the air and allows them to reopen their gliders to reach the island.
    • At some point Epic decided to take all the season 6 playground minigames and stick them together in a bunch of connected floating platforms over Battle Royale island. Prepare to build like mad... or just grab those new balloons.
  • Frictionless Ice: The Chiller trap allows you to invoke this; anyone who stumbles upon it will have their feet encased in ice, causing them to slide around. The News bulletin for its arrival flat-out states it:
    Hello ice, goodbye friction!
  • Grenade Hot Potato: Shortly after the release of Dynamite, an interaction was added to throw it back. It has a fairly long fuse, so if your opponent is just tossing it willy-nilly in close quarters...
  • Funnel Cloud Journey: The Season 6 island tornado. Thanks to everyone getting their own gliders, it's possible to ride the tornado and either land on the floating island, or essentially re-deploy on a different part of the island below.
  • Halloween Episode: The season's theme, which had a heavy emphasis on all things spooky and scary.
  • Little Red Fighting Hood: Fable is this trope to a T. Loading screens feature her fighting off several werewolves and even a hunting a vampire.
  • Modesty Shorts: All female outfits use this trope, but it's especially notable with the Fable outfit, due to having a long and free-flowing skirt.
  • The Monolith: The purple space cube is a more proactive take on this trope.
  • More Dakka: The Food Fight LTM brings with it a dual machine gun turret (deployed like the traps), which comes with infinite ammo and merciless damage, with just its overheating holding it back.
  • Ms. Fanservice: The beginning of Season 6 brought forth a new outfit named Calamity, a cowgirl with a white tank top, plenty of midriff, short denim shorts, and some accidental Jiggle Physics.
  • Mundane Solution: While the turret was intended as the go-to weapon for hitting the enemy target in Food Fight, there's nothing stopping you from using some other weapon, be it the heavy assault rifle or the six shooter.
  • Nitro Boost: New for Season 6, the Quadcrasher is a straight example, speed boost during button press followed by a cooldown time - with the addition of being able to break through anything.
  • Not the Intended Use: The Tomato toy often gets a lot of use from players who want to learn the names of their teammates in big game modes like 50v50, since it tells you the name of who you hit in the feed.
  • Our Ghosts Are Different: Picking up a Shadow Stone can turn any player character into a ghost, including humans, werewolves, robots, space robots, vampires, and guys in llama suits. This decreases their gravity, lets them phase through walls, and turn invisible when immobile. Oddly, they aren't immune to weapons in this state.
  • Parasol Parachute: The umbrella reward this season was a spider-themed umbrella known as the Webrella.
  • Pass the Popcorn: The Season 6 opening cutscene contains a Skull Trooper doing this as he watches the center island of Loot Lake rise into the air, to the bemusement of the Sun Tan Specialist next to him.
  • Piñata Enemy: The cube monsters of Season 6, though whether they drop anything is completely random (there's actual pinatas for that).
  • Portal Network: Throughout Season 6, there was a small portal network connecting underground bases in Weeping Woods.
  • Potty Dance: Season 6 gives us the "It's Go Time!" emote, which is just your character grabbing their crotch and hopping in place to intense music. The description reads "It's either now, or right now!"
  • Revolvers Are Just Better: The Six Shooter introduced in Season 6. Despite just a 6-round load, the accuracy, speedy reload and fantastic rate of fire during normal use (literally shoot-from-the-hip fan-fire) make it a handy-dandy weapon.
  • Whole Costume Reference: From the neck down, Jack Gourdon is based on David S Pumpkins — the only difference is that his head is a pumpkin instead of a Tom Hanks likeness.

Season 7: You Better Watch Out
Season 7 ran from December 6, 2018 to February 27, 2019, introducing a snow biome, X-4 Stormwing planes, weapon wraps and Creative mode. At the start of season 7, the iceberg collided with the island, along with an attack by Sgt. Winter and his Slushy Soldiers. Atop the iceberg was the Ice King's castle, which held a fiery prisoner within its frozen dungeon. As the dungeon began to thaw, the Ice King used his powers to summon a blizzard, sending the entire island into a dark and cold winter. Mere weeks later, the dungeon thawed out completely, its prisoner now free. As the Prisoner fled, the snow thawed out. The island began to experience increased seismic activity, with earthquakes constantly rocking the island. The biggest of these earthquakes left sprawling cracks in the ground, from Pleasant Park to Paradise Palms.
  • Bad Santa: Season 7 introduces Sgt. Winter, a musclebound Santa-like fellow whose idea of a greeting is riding a big ice wave onto the island while brandishing a BFS and commanding an army with airplanes. He also carries a pistol on him at all times and pilots a sleigh loaded with missiles.
  • BFS: The Infinity Blade, initially wielded by Sgt. Winter in the Season 7 opening, became an item that spawns in Polar Peak 5 days after the Season started. It's a three-hit kill on the regular swing and has a huge jumpslash, both of which eat through builds as well.
  • Endless Winter: The theme of this season, and what the Ice King tries to trigger during the "Ice Storm" event.
  • Frictionless Ice:
    • This season vaulted the Chiller and added a frozen area with icy lakes that have the same effect.
    • One of the LTMs for 14 Days of Fortnite was Slide, which gave this effect to everyone, all the time, plus an infinite Grappler to more easily exploit the ice physics.
  • Gamer Chick: Lynx seems to be one, if her livestreaming setup in Frosty Flights is any indication.
  • Gale-Force Sound: The Boombox item plays loud music that destroys buildings and structures within its area of effect.
  • An Ice Person: The Ice King and Queen are ice-themed people.
  • Mobile Shrubbery: The Sneaky Snowman disguises the player as a snowman. It also gives them 100 points of snow armor, but will break if they pull out another item — and can be thrown instead of worn, to mislead your enemies.
  • Parasol Parachute: The umbrella reward this season was a snowman-themed umbrella, dubbed "Snowfall".
  • Recycled Premise: Season 7's "Ice Storm" event modes were unabashed copies of Season 6's "Fortnitemares". The only explicit change is the addition of heavy fog — every other difference is due to the overall metagame having evolved with gamewide updates.

Season 8: X Marks The Spot
Season 8 ran from February 28 to May 8, 2019, introducing a jungle biome, a pirate ship and a massive volcano. The seismic instability caused by the earthquakes triggered a volcano to erupt under Wailing Woods. Soon afterwards, the northeast corner of the island transformed into a jungle as geysers and lava streams appear. While a group of pirates take over Snobby Shores, several dig sites appear around the island. Eventually, a dig site reveals a large metal surface beneath Loot Lake. Eventually, the lake is excavated, revealing a bunker. The Loopers work together to activate five runes. The bunker would eventually open up, revealing it to be the Vault — the Vault, where vaulted items go.

Loopers venture into the Vault and are greeted by six towers containing vaulted items, a desk with Singularity's helmet, and the Zero Point. After breaking a weapon out of the Vault, the Loopers are ejected just in time to watch the volcano erupt. Flaming fireballs target Retail Row and Tilted Towers, obliterating them. Another fireball hits Polar Peak, creating a large crack in the ice.

  • Expy: Hybrid the Draconic Humanoid is a mild example of Captain Ersatz, as his first stage looks sort of like Comic Book/Deadpool. In fact, when Deadpool was officially added to the game a year later, Hybrid was pictured in one of his loading screens.
  • Parasol Parachute: The umbrella reward this season was a tropical-themed umbrella representing a palm tree, appropriately named "Palm Leaf".
  • Pirate: The theme of this season. To tie in with the theme, pirate outfits such as Blackheart, Sea Wolf and Buccaneer released, alongside a pirate location named Lazy Lagoon.
  • Purposely Overpowered: Thanos returns in the Endgame mode, retaining all his power from before, plus a team of Chitauri Mooks. The other team, representing the Avengers, is far more powerful than the Chitauri one-on-one, but not as strong as Thanos. Everyone in the mode has the statistics to curbstomp a player of an ordinary mode, though you obviously won't be seeing that fight in practice.
  • Running Gag: In Chapter 1, a building in Tilted Towers was destroyed and rebuilt multiple times. Every time it was rebuilt, it would last just a few weeks before it was leveled. When Tilted Towers was destroyed at the end of Season 8, it was the only building left standing.
  • We Win, Because You Didn't: The Endgame LTM works this way — Thanos and the Chitauri share 100 respawns, and their goal is to collect all the Infinity Stones, disable respawning for the other team, and kill them. The Avengers' goal is to make them burn through those 100 respawns before they can accomplish this.

Season 9: The Future Is Yours
Season 9 ran from May 9 to July 31, 2019, introducing a futuristic utopia, new weapons and a Fortbytes challenge system. When the volcanic ash clears, the loopers discover that they are now in The Future, full of shiny white architecture, renewable energy sources, and a network of wind tunnels circling the island. Tilted Towers has been rebuilt as Neo Tilted, while Retail Row has been replaced by a massive new Mega Mall. Unfortunately, the damage to Polar Peak also released a giant Leviathan of some sort, but only its massive footprints have been seen. However, Vindertech appears to have anticipated this problem — they have converted the now-dormant Volcano into a Pressure Plant, and rumors abound of a giant robot to fight the Leviathan. Eventually, the battle between the gigantic robot and the enourmous monster begins, with the robot being victorious. The only thing left of the monster is its skeleton, near Dusty Divot. However, during the battle, the robot and the monster destroyed the Vault in Loot Lake and it created a giant sphere of some sort. What does this mean?
  • An Arm and a Leg: During the Final Showdown event in Season 9, Mecha Team Leader loses its arm while the monster tears it apart.
  • BFS: It's revealed that the statue at Neo Tilted is actually a handle for the sword of the Mecha Team Leader during the Final Showdown, and it put everything before it to shame.
  • Dual Wielding: There are harvesting tools that comprise of two smaller axes, with one held in each hand. They are swung one at a time, but have identical damage and attack speed as single, two-handed ones. These were introduced this season.
  • The Future: The theme of this season, giving a very stereotypical and utopian depiction of the future.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: This is how Mecha Team Leader finishes off the monster during the Final Showdown event.
  • Impossibly Cool Weapon: This season's final item introduction was a grenade that, when thrown, calls in an air strike made of no less than 20 missiles on the spot it impacts. Each individual missile removes 75 of your opponent's potential 200 health and is powerful enough to destroy a wooden wall. Now consider the fact that there's 20 of them.
  • Kaiju: The monster underneath Polar Peak, the Devourer, is a huge monster that ends up fighting the mecha that was built specifically for the monster in the Final Showdown event.
  • Macross Missile Massacre: One of the grenades at your disposal is essentially an air strike stowed away in your pocket - throw it somewhere and watch twenty super powerful missiles rain down on your enemies.
  • Megaton Punch: During the Final Showdown event in season 9, Mecha Team Leader punches through the vault and dig a spherical object of power, absorb its powers, and punches in the monster in its face, sending it flying and destroying a few houses in the process.
  • The Mall: Season 9 in 2019 had Retail Row evolved into the Mega Mall, the biggest indoor combat area to date (which can still be levelled with enough time and ammo.)
  • Parasol Parachute: Two this season.
    • The main umbrella reward this season was a holographic umbrella, referred to as "Holographic".
    • The second was rewarded upon completing challenges in "Wick's Bounty", the gamemode that was added to coincide with John Wick Chapter 3 Parabelleum. It was a clean and pitch black umbrella referred to as "One Shot". It returned in future seasons alongside the mode.
  • Ramming Always Works: During the Final Showdown event, the Mecha Team Leader tackled the Devourer into the ocean.
  • Twinkle in the Sky: After beating the Polar Peak Monster, the Mecha Team Leader flies off into space, forming this.

    Season X: Out of Time
Season X ran from August 1 to October 13, 2019, introducing Rift Zone locations, a remixed Battle Pass and B.R.U.T.E mechs. Well, we find out what that sphere was in Season 10 (or X). Apparently, since the Vault event back in Season 8 brought the loopers into an alternate dimension where a strange sphere rested, destroying the Vault entirely resulted in the sphere exploding and creating a time warp of some kind. The sphere itself and the junk around it are frozen mid-explosion, a low-gravity field forming around it while the inside of the sphere acts as a rift. The large wind tunnel that went around the island is gone, although the ones around Neo Tilted and Mega Mall remained. The meteor that created Dusty Divot to begin with has returned, now frozen in time time above the field so loopers can land on it, the Visitor's pod viewable inside it. Dusty Divot has reverted back to being Dusty Depot, the factories destroyed by the meteor returning as well. In addition, the lobby island appeared to be a mishmash of all previous forms of the lobby island. And it looks like the island will change constantly over time...

Neo Tilted had a strange device inside it for a short while until it triggered, the time distortion field turning Neo Tilted into the old fashioned Tilted Town, a western-esque city. Inside the time distortion field, the harvesting tools can't be used to break apart the buildings nor can the build tool be used to create structures, everyone getting western-style clothing similar to Calamity (for the girls) and Deadfire (for the guys). A second device was placed inside Mega Mall, creating another time distortion field. It turned it back into Retail Row, but it was Retail Row during season six, when the island was infested by the zombie-like Cube Monsters. Thankfully, the horde cannot leave the time distortion field, but anyone who goes into Retail is in grave danger.

A third device was set up in the recreation center with the soccer field and abandoned pool. However, it malfunctioned, destroying the recreation center and buildings around it, leaving nothing but a crater that has a few chests and is filled with glitched foraged items, items that randomly turn into other things you could find on the ground around the island, including things that used to be in the game, including Hop Rocks and Shadow Stones. A fourth device was set up south of Paradise Palms. This one went off without a hitch, and for the next two weeks, Paradise Palms was replaced with a place quite unexpected: the borderlands of Pandora. It also brought with it two passengers from those same borderlands: a Psycho Bandit and his dual buzz-axes, and... Claptrap. Oh, joy.

A fifth device was set up in Fatal Fields. Instead of replacing the area, however, it brought back Kevin the Cube as the floating island. And on top of the island was a mishmash of buildings and elements that had vanished from the island previously, including the Durr Burger head with the Drift image on the tongue. The island is now moving around the map as it did before, to unknown purpose. Meanwhile, a new rocket is starting to be built at Dusty Depot. A sixth and seventh device were set up, one in the ice lake where Greasy Grove used to be, one in the middle of Paradise Palms. Once activated, the ice lake became Greasy Grove once more, albeit with a taco restaurant where Durr Burger was. In addition to that, periodically tacos would rain from the sky, everyone forced to celebrate the event while their wounds healed. The device in Paradise fused Moisty Mire with Paradise Palms, creating Moisty Palms, a forested oasis in the desert. In addition to that, it brought back the jail which had been on the island previously. Moisty Palms, however, has an odd energy about it, which allows people inside it to turn into props.

The rocket edges ever closer to completion as a device was set up in Tilted Town. The rift altered, and temporarily became Gotham City. Batman and Catwoman joined the roster of Loopers, while canisters of Joker Gas appeared around the island. A ninth device was placed not long after, summoning an entirely new place called Starry Suburbs, a small section of a town where dream stars rained from the sky, the stars holding powerful weapons inside them.

The rocket finally launched, shooting straight into the sky and vanishing into a rift. But then, as people watched, multiple rockets burst through, flying through rifts over and over. Finally, they coalesced around the meteor, the rockets swirling around it, creating a massive rift that pulled the frozen in time meteor into it. For a time, there was silence, before a targeting laser targeted the frozen in time exploding sphere in Loot Lake. Seven rockets guided the meteor down, the resulting blast wave knocking everyone far away from the island, leaving them helpless, floating in midair. The rocket pierced through the time bubble, striking the sphere, before the meteor itself crashes into the the Zero Point... and causing reality itself to implode. Everything and everyone in the universe was sucked inside it, leaving only a black hole with energy swirling around it.

  • All the Worlds Are a Stage: Season X's map slowly evolved into this, evolving into an island featuring landmarks, points of interest, and gimmicks from every season that came before it.
  • Apocalypse How: Season X's ending is a Class X-4, as the Visitor's attack on the Zero-Point to resolve the growing danger of a Time Crash causes it to collapse into a singularity that then absorbs the entire Fortnite universe and the game itself plus all official real-world outlets on social media and the internet, leaving behind only a black hole. Fortunately, the attack is also seemingly a Reset Button of sorts, meaning that a new universe will rise from the ashes assuming his gambit pays off.
  • Ninja Run: Possible with the use of the "Full Tilt" emote, available in the Item Shop in September 2019.
  • Parasol Parachute: The umbrella reward this season was massive X, referred to, as, well, "X".
  • Reset Button: Season X ended with the Seven causing the entire universe to collapse into a singularity to stop an irreversible Time Crash from consuming everything; Chapter 2 begins in the new universe created by this attack.
  • Time Travel: The theme of this season, bringing in not only old locations but also alternate-timeline versions of several landmarks.
  • Trash the Set: Season X's The End event completely obliterates everything. You thought Final Fantasy XIV's infamous 1.0 ending was ravaging? Bahamut didn't cause a black hole.
  • Wham Episode: Season X as a whole was this. It revealed that the Visitor was a part of a group named the Seven, which also had two other members make their first appearances. It named the Loop and the Bridge for the first time in the mode's first proper lines of dialogue. The season ended with the Seven creating a black hole, with other easter eggs peppered throughout the season that raised more questions than answers.

Chapter 2

    Season 1: A New World
Season 1 ran from October 15, 2019 to February 19, 2020, introducing a brand new Island, an Accolades system and swimming/fishing mechanics. 48 hours after the events of the end of Chapter 1, (or likely an unknown amount of time in-game, due to, y'know, being inside a singularity) the swirling black hole finally collapses, annihilating the old universe, but reforming it into an entirely new universe, along with a new and more immersive island. However, a strange visitor that seems to be made of energy keeps appearing...could this be the "Zero Point" the Visitor talked about?

The Island is not without its troubles, though, as two different groups seem to be vying for control of it. One group being the heroic E.G.O., the other being the fearsome A.L.T.E.R., eventually revealed to be led by or at least connected to a fearsome, barely human being called Chaos Agent. A.L.T.E.R. controls Steamy Stacks, a power plant that appears to be harnessing the energy used by Kevin, and are building a mass-produced army of red goo monsters called Sludges, although one of them, a blue goo monster born from the Slurpy Swamp plant named Rippley, seems to have sided with E.G.O...

During Halloween, a powerful entity from another world, Save the World's dreaded Storm King, appeared in the center of the island, menacing those who dared approach him. Thankfully, he never went past the island's center, and was eventually driven off. Risky Reels underwent remodeling, the Millennium Falcon showing up while being chased by TIE Fighters, Star Destroyers in the sky. The Falcon lands, and the fourth wall breaks long enough for a Fortnite developer, a random Stormtrooper, and J. J. Abrams to give a preview of the then-upcoming Star Wars movie, The Rise of Skywalker. Once the preview is over, TIE Fighters drive off the Falcon, forcing it to retreat after shooting some of them down. For the moment, the TIE Fighter crash sites linger, guarded by First Order soldiers, and there are now cases containing lightsabers hidden all over the island, modeled after the sabers used by Luke Skywalker, Rey, Kylo Ren, and Mace Windu.

The First Order was eventually driven off. After a long period of peace and the Christmas season, golden items started showing up in the cabin on the central island, as well as mysterious documents, setting the stage for the next phase of the Island's fate.

  • A Taste of Power: Starting the game in Chapter 2 for the first time makes the game playing "Ruckus" by Konata Small, as well as making all other enemies bots.
  • Automatic New Game: Opening the game after the Chapter 2 Season 1 update would lead into an introductory cutscene which ended with Jonesy dropping from the Battle Bus... into an actual Solos match, albeit with bots.
  • Expy: An example of Captain Ersatz this season comes from Big Chuggus, a slurp-powered parody of Comic Book/Bane.
  • Geo Effects: Slurpy Swamp of Chapter 2 appears to be a manufacturing plant for Slurp Juice and other shield-related consumables. The wastewater surrounding it glows blue and gradually increases your Shield when you take a dip in it.
  • Nostalgia Level: While the Chapter 2 map as a whole featured new points of interest and landmarks, three POIs from the Chapter 1 map note  made it to the new map, no worse for wear.
  • Parasol Parachute: Two this season.
    • The main umbrella reward this season was a water-themed umbrella, dubbed the "Downpour".
    • The second umbrella was a storm-themed umbrella known as the "Storm Sail", given after defeating the Storm King during Fortnitemares 2019.
  • Retool: The theme of this season, bringing in a brand new Island, new graphics, new designs, new default cosmetics and new UI elements.
  • Walking Spoiler: Save The World players know that the main villain behind the disappearance of all humanity is the Storm King. Guess what? In the first season of the Chapter 2 battle royale map, he shows up as a special raid boss for the 2019 Fortnitemares, and he's open season for those who've perhaps never played ''Save The World yet!

    Season 2: Top Secret
Season 2 ran from February 20 to June 16, 2020, introducing various spy bases and items, NPC spies and bosses and a collection of themed gamemodes. The cabin in the center of the island was replaced by the Agency; the shining headquarters of GHOST, headed by Midas. Other new locations have shown up as well, including the Shark, a shark-shaped island in the north, the Yacht, located near Steamy Stacks, the Grotto, an underground base south of Dirty Docks, and the Rig, an oil rig off the coast of Slurpy Swamp. Each one of these locations had henchmen and an agent equipped with a powerful Mythic-rarity weapon guarding it, with valuable loot available to those that conquer these bases.

The Rig was destroyed via unknown means, getting taken over by GHOST's counterpart agency, SHADOW. TnTina, the guardian of the Rig, defected to Shadow as well. Brutus also defected to SHADOW, giving control of the Grotto to SHADOW. Five bunkers appear in the waters surrounding the Agency, heralding something major about to happen.

Deadpool, the Merc with a Mouth, invaded the Yacht, forcing out Meowscles. Deadpool redecorated the Yacht in his image and held a party there, while Meowscles has been exiled to the Box Factory. Following these events, Meowscles also joins SHADOW. The Shark undergoes renovations, and becomes a high-security prison under GHOST. Skye has gone from neutral to GHOST in alignment. The changes continue, with mysteries rising again and again.

The culmination of Midas's plans throughout the season have been realized. A massive device erupted from beneath the Agency, destroying it. It attempted to destroy the Storm, pushing it back and seemingly succeeding at first. So much energy was being output, that it briefly warped people into another world a few times, where a version of Jonesy dressed as a secret agent was talking to someone about the device, ending with Jonesy noticing the loopers. But in the end, the device failed, the Storm becoming even more intense, a massive tsunami picking up the Yacht and closing in on the Agency from all sides, engulfing the island in water.

  • Black Bead Eyes: Some characters from this season, such as Meowscles, Guff, and Ollie have this.
  • Character Customization: While the game already have a lot of customization options, this was taken up to eleven in Chapter 2, Season 2 with the battle pass outfit Gear Specialist Maya. By completing challenges, you unlock the ability to customize her hair, vest, helmet, tattoos, and more facets of her outfit, with 3.8 million unique combinations.
  • Expy: A lot of examples of Captain Ersatz from this season's Battle Pass.
  • Gamer Chick: Skye definitely counts, given her room in the lobby in Chapter 2, Season 2 and the fact that her Adventure Pack is visibly carrying a game console.
  • Midas Touch: Midas, the aptly-named final outfit of the Chapter 2, Season 2 Battle Pass, permanently turns any weapons and vehicles he touches to solid gold. There's no loss of functionality, and if him petting Meowscles in the season trailer is any indication he has at least some control over it (though he and the rest of the BP skins slowly turning gold as one levels up may suggest otherwise...).
  • Nipple and Dimed: The Travis Scott event of 2020 features a shirtless CGI Travis who's subjected to this trope, ultimately leading to the hashtag #savetravisnips.
  • Operation: [Blank]: All four LTMs that are part of the Spy Games event are named this way: "Operation: Dropzone", "Operation: Knockout", "Operation: Payload" and "Operation: Infiltration".
  • Parasol of Pain: The "Kingsman" weapon, introduced this season. as the name may suggest, it serves as a bulletproof shield and a melee weapon that can be swung or charged up to launch you forward. It also provides a much more logical (though no more feasible) example of the trope below than the actual victory umbrellas; you can open it to slow your fall, but it doesn't last long before turning inside out and dropping you again.
  • Parasol Parachute: The umbrella reward this season was a black and gold umbrella themed around spies and art deco aesthetics, known as "Classified".
  • Promoted to Playable: During this season, you could fight any of five elite agents or Deadpool as bosses. If you bought the battle pass, you could eventually unlock them as outfits if you gained enough experience. The next two seasons also had a few bosses that could likewise be unlocked via premium battle pass progression.
  • Right-Hand Cat: Played for Laughs in the Spies event of Chapter 2 - Midas is introduced as having one, except it turns out to be Meowscles.
  • Spy Fiction: The theme of this season, bringing in items and locations themed after James Bond and other yesteryear spy tropes.

    Season 3: Splashdown
Season 3 ran from June 16 to August 26, 2020, introducing a flooded map, sharks and cars and a variety of floating locations. The island has been flooded, with most of it underwater now. Several areas were protected by No Sweat Insurance and now have their buildings floating on platforms, while others, such as Weeping Woods and the Slurp Factory, are now completely underwater, with artificial islands made of junk arising in their place. The Yacht has been wrecked, the still floating ruins now serving as a residence for Deadpool. Ghost has retreated to where the Rig used to be, setting up a small colony called the Fortilla. Shadow has completely taken over where the Agency used to be, replacing the Agency with the Authority, mysterious teams of Marauders stalk the island, and sharks now infest the waters that encompass the island!

The water that flooded the island is slowly draining. A small society of coralfolk have set up shop in the northmost part of the map, while Pleasant Park and Frenzy Farm are now back on dry land. Craggy Cliffs and Weeping Woods are now free of water and ready to be cleaned up, and the primary docking bay of the Authority is now usable. Gas stations are being upgraded around the island, while nearly all land-based vehicles have been withdrawn by No Sweat insurance. Aquaman has made his appearance on the island, and in some of the still underwater areas of the island, there is a spaceship that has crashed, with someone still inside. The water has drained completely, and while there's a mess everywhere, everything is accessible again, barring the Grotto, which remains flooded. The giant whirlpool north of Sweaty Sands has receded, revealing an undersea castle surrounded by waterfalls. In addition, a damaged spaceship has been revealed, one which loopers can help repair and send back into space.

In the Fortnite x Marvel: Nexus War comic, Thor, the mighty lord of Asgard, bound to the service of the dreaded world-eater, Galactus, is traveling to stop a potential apocalypse at the hands of the Black Winter. When his master notices a rift leading to the Fortnite universe, he tries to dissuade him, to no avail. Fearful for that universe, the lord of Asgard heads to that universe to warn them of the world-devourer's arrival and finds himself being drawn in by the island. The thunder god first finds Brite Bomber and Kit relaxing in a field and lands next to them to deliver his warning, but the two don't trust him upon his arrival and get ready to attack. Lynx, Jonesy, Raven, and Peely join the fight, the thunder god besting them all easily as he tries to convince them of the oncoming threat. But as he fights, the magic of the island affects him and he loses his memory, dropping his enchanted hammer. He recovers it quickly, and goes all-out on the Fortnite characters, only stopping when they finally notice the rift in the sky. The sight of the rift makes him remember that he has much more to worry about than their petty squabbling. He sends ravens back to Sif to warn her of the danger, and she sends aid over the rainbow bridge in the form of Captain America, Iron Man, She-Hulk, Groot, Wolverine, Storm, Mystique and Doctor Doom.

  • Expy: An example of Captain Ersatz came from the Item Shop - Relaxed Fit Jonesy, who resembles Fat Thor in Avengers: Endgame.
  • The Great Flood: The theme of this season, albeit without biblical or mythological context.
  • Parasol Parachute: Two this season.
    • The main umbrella reward this season was a trash-themed umbrella similar to the design of the Fortilla location, appropriately named "Fortilla Flier".
    • The second umbrella reward, Brella, came in the Battle Pass, and was customizable upon completing challenges, much like Maya the season before.

    Season 4: Nexus War
Season 4 ran from August 27 to December 1, 2020, introducing the Avengers into the storyline, themed items and large Marvel-themed islands. As the war between GHOST and SHADOW comes to an end, a new threat arises. Attracted by the events of The End, Galactus, the Devourer of Worlds, quickly approaches the island to consume the Zero Point's energy in a misguided attempt to prevent the Black Winter. Thor, reluctant herald of Galactus, makes his way to the island and summons various Marvel superheroes and villains to the island with the Bifrost, along a S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier to aid the heroes and their new allies. Unfortunately, the memories of the heroes are lost, and for those with powers, they are having difficulty using them to their fullest extent.

The Marvel characters are quick to make their presence known. Doctor Doom takes control of Pleasant Park, turning it into Doom's Domain. Tony Stark sets up several Starktech beacons. Heavily guarded Quinjets took off from the Helicarrier, bringing to the islands drones that have powerful equipment. Several destroyed Sentinels can be found in the center of the island, while gorgers sent by Galactus gather resources.

While not every Marvel hero made it, several chunks of other Marvel franchises made their appearances; including a part of a road with a Trask Industries truck, an enlarged doghouse presumably used by Ant-Man, a giant Vibranium statue of a panther from Wakanda, and a mysterious location with various historical bits of memorabilia related to the island. As this happens, the beacons set up by Stark start to form an energy dome.

When the beacons activate, they summon a large part of Upstate New York. This chunk of land, home to several cabins (including one very similar to Stark's home in the MCU,) has brought Stark Industries with it. At this time, Wolverine is on a constant patrol of Weeping Woods and Slurpy Swamp. Over the following weeks, Stark makes modifications to several Battle Buses at Stark Industries. Midas, slain in Season 3's trailer, returns from the dead for 2020's Fortnitemares event. The vacant Authority becomes the Ruins, inhabited by Shadow Midas and his ghostly henchmen.

After a months-long journey and months of preparation by the heroes, Galactus finally makes it to the island. His first move after declaring his presence is to swat the Helicarrier out of the sky, sending everybody on it flying. Tony Stark, now fully suited up as Iron Man, saves the looper by tossing them a jetpack. Galactus pulls the Zero Point from beneath the Ruins. With Iron Man's help, everyone is pulled into the Zero Point to fight Galactus directly. The looper, at the helm of one of billions of modified, bomb-filled Battle Bus clones, fights though Galactus' defenses with the help of other Marvel superheroes. As the buses reach Galactus, he consumes them, the looper ejecting; which is exactly what Iron Man wanted. The buses explode inside Galactus, send him and the other Marvel characters back to their reality, Iron Man thanking the loopers for their help.

Meanwhile, the Imagined Order is in a panic. Agent Jones, unconscious on the floor, wakes up with a start as the phone in his office rings.

  • Crossover: The theme of the season, specifically, with Marvel.
  • Fisher Kingdom: During the season, characters from the Marvel Universe find their memories fading once arriving on the island, quickly taking part in Battle Royale without any apparent reason. This is emphasized with the "Awakening" missions for each character skin, which is essentially performing tasks to jog their memories.
  • Parasol Parachute: The umbrella reward this season was a Galactus-themed umbrella, dubbed the "Mighty Marvel 'Brella".
  • Stealth Pun: During this achievement, one achievement involves finding Baby Groot in a plant nursery.

    Season 5: Zero Point
Season 5 ran from December 2, 2020 to March 15, 2021, introducing a cosmic wasteland, a currency/bounty system and a variety of NPC Characters to talk to and accept quests from. Agent Jones takes the phone call from Doctor Sloan, his superior. Doctor Slone orders Agent Jones enter the Loop to fix the situation. While initially reluctant, he accepts when told about the possibility of someone escaping the Loop; missing a warning about the Seven in the process. Agent Jones makes his way to the island via a portal room near his office, and with the help of a handheld portal device, gathers hunters from various realities, including the Mandalorian, as a part of his plan. However, this is just the first phase of the plan, and he's just getting things started.

The first of the extra mercenaries arrives in the form of Kratos. He saves Mancake from a charging werewolf, ending up spooking the breakfast-turned-bandito into running off. Master Chief arrives, apparently appearing in a drink cooler in a store that Fishstick let him out of accidentally. Agent Jones, meanwhile, rescues (kidnaps?) Daryl and Michonne from a zombie attack, bringing them over to the island to work with his gathered hunters. In addition to all of that, strange rifts in the sky are appearing at random points around the island, showing other worlds.

Portals have been opening all across the island due to the unstable Zero Point, bringing new hunters to the island. A mysterious alien ship was found in Stealthy Stronghold, later confirmed to belong to a Yautja. In addition, John Jones brought Sarah Conner and the T-800 to the island, just as the T-800 was sacrificing itself to save the future.

Agent Jones is continuing his recruitment spree, gaining the services of Snake-Eyes, as well as Ryu and Chun-Li from an arcade machine. He even recruits Ellen Ripley, although a Xenomorph sneaks in through the rift also. The Zero Point continues to grow more unstable, as NPCs around the island, especially those stationed close to the Zero Point, start getting nervous. Ant-Man shows up as well. The Zero Point's continues to destabilize, as Agent Jones finds himself cut off from the Imagined Order. With his calls unanswered and his credentials revoked, a bitter yet determined Agent Jones decides to defy the I.O. and go to the Seven.

  • Bounty Hunter: The theme of this season, with Agent Jones going across time and reality to recruit both original and pre-existing hunters.
  • Covert Group: The Imagined Order operated secretly from the public up until Chapter 2 Season 5.
  • Operation: [Blank]: The holiday event that took place during Chapter 2 Season 5 is called "Operation: Snowdown".
  • Parasol Parachute: Two this season.
    • The main umbrella reward this season was a gladiator-themed umbrella, referred to as the "Bounty 'Brella".
    • The second umbrella reward came as a reward for winning a match of "Mando's Bounty", a gamemode available in February 2021. Known as the "Beskar Umbrella", this umbrella was themed after The Mandalorian.

    Season 6: Primal
Season 6 ran from March 16 to June 7, 2021, introducing an autumnal biome, new weapons and a variety of wildlife. Chaos reigns as the Zero Point starts to collapse completely, sending out reality waves that change the landscape. Defying orders from Doctor Sloan, Jones jumps from the Battle Bus and weaves his way through a massive Mêlée à Trois to get to the Zero Point. Jones throws his portal device into the Zero Point to get the attention of the Foundation; the leader of the Seven. The Foundation arrives in a meteor that crashes near the Zero Point. While initially hostile towards Jones, his promise of information on an unknown figure named Geno in exchange for assistance in stabilising the Zero Point brings the Foundation to his side.

The Foundation goes to the Zero Point itself to try to stabilize it directly, while Jones and a nearby Looper (the player character) use Jones' device to close any new portals. A reality wave turns Jones into a butterfly, forcing the Looper, themselves changed, to take over. Jones uses his butterfly form's powers to teleport the Looper around the island, closing portals as they appear, reality waves changing the Looper's form each time until they're back to normal. As the Zero Point blooms, the Foundation seems to be successful at first, but it's not enough. The Foundation prepares to seal off the Zero Point with himself inside of it, ordering Jones to overload his device and throw it in. Jones, back in human form, is worried about being trapped in the Loop, but the Foundation is firm, and swears he'll come back someday to get the information Jones promised. Giving his word, Jones overloads the device, trapping him in the Loop, but the Zero Point has been stabilised inside of a massive crystal tower named the Spire.

For the first few weeks, a young mage named Raz has been studying the Spire, trying to learn its secrets. Despite warnings from everyone, he kept up his studies until finally, something happened. Raz became corrupted, gaining tremendous power and overthrowing the Assassin guarding the Spire, taking her place and defending his claim as ruler of the Spire. Meanwhile, the civilized cities on the island are starting to put up makeshift barricades.

New warriors arrive on the island, either simply caught in the crossfire or with an interest over the island's new rifts. Aloy continues her fight for survival and Raven and Beast Boy investigate the rifts. Batman attempts to solve the mystery of the loop with help from Catwoman and Deathstroke.

Off the shore of the Flushed Factory rises Isla Nublada, a mysterious island housing a rift and the ruins of Orelia, guarding a Legendary Assault Rifle. Rather than pay tribute for this powerful artifact, the legendary Lara Croft raids the tomb for it instead.

Near the end of May, people who have made purchases from iam8bit began receiving postcards with strange symbols, a phone number, and two words: "They're Coming." Posters that shared the same general theme were also seen in real life. When the phone number was called, it played audio that could be put through a spectrogram. Each day, the message changed, with each audio clip containing a different image. Not long after, several streamers and content creators in Australia, the U.K., and the U.S. received DVD players with a DVD labeled "They're Coming" already inside. Each region had a different video, but they shared some aspects between them; they were all filmed in real life in unknown locations, and had the same symbols as the postcards and posters.

Nearing the final weeks, a mysterious Black Helicopter is seen flying over Farmer Steel's farm and it crashes near Misty Meadows. When investigated by loopers, it is discovered that its last signal makes mention of an inbound "India Oscar" field decontamination truck and that OPSEC 3 is now in effect. At the same time, various telescopes are discovered to be broken, requiring loopers to repair them. Additionally, the crop fields in Colossal Crops have been harvested, and loopers overhear Mari, Turk, and Dennis — members of the IO — on their CB radios conversing about kangaroos and other mysterious points of conversation.

Meanwhile, Cuddle Team Leader is sent hurling through a rift into a futuristic reality controlled by the Foundation. Her suit is destroyed and she rebuilds a new one with the help of her new friends (including the R.E.M.Walkers), and through the dimensional rifts, she returns to the Island as the Mecha Cuddle Master.

As posters of aliens line the streets of Sweaty Sands, a mysterious Crop Circle appears at Colossal Crops; the same crop circle seen in one of the They're Coming videos. Just a few days later, UFOs begin abducting loopers and taking them to other areas on the island. It isn't long before a second crop circle appears, just north of the first one. An unknown outside party reports on some of the upcoming additions to the Island, including a Fishstick Janky, milk cartons, an anti-gravity device, a pair of glasses, a guitar, the Pulsar 9000, and the Butter Bot.

Two days before the new season, as a third crop circle appears, Mari of an alien-watching group called the Hot Saucers detects a strange audio signal, and turns to the official Fortnite Discord server for help. What follows is a series of puzzles which the community solved together over two days. Each solved puzzle gave the community hexagon-shaped pieces that formed a hexagonal maze with numbers in it when put together. Less than 24 hours before the next season, the end result was determined to be a code for a Creative map (6694-4972-2409) named "They're Coming" in which the words "The Last Reality" were hidden.

  • Mythology Gag: The opening cinematic to Chapter 2 Season 6 that transitions it from Season 5 has a part specifically referencing Terminator 2: Judgment Day, where Ripley drives a truck off a bridge (like the T-1000 did in the movie) to help Sarah against the T-800s.
  • Parasol Parachute: Two this season.
    • The main umbrella reward this season was a Foundation-themed umbrella, appropriately named "Foundational 'Brella".

    Season 7: Invasion
Season 7 ran from June 8 to September 12, 2021, introducing UFO vehicles, new weapons and alien environments. After weeks of speculation, the aliens finally arrive. As U.F.O.s start to abduct people, an enormous alien mothership moves in. The mothership, far larger than the island itself, covers the island in shadow. The loopers attempt to communicate with it, but it doesn't go very well. The mothership tears the Spire out of the ground and blows it up, sparking a war between the loopers and the aliens. The effort to fend off the invasion is led by the Imagined Order's Doctor Slone, with help from loopers including Rick Sanchez (and Morty Smith... as his pickaxe) and Superman. Meanwhile, the Foundation, who had been trapped inside the Zero Point (and by extension, the Spire) since the start of the previous season, falls into the ocean, his whereabouts unknown.

In-game, the mothership towers over the island high above the sky, shrouding the southern coast in shadow. The I.O. has once again returned to the island in full force, setting up several new facilities containing large satellite dishes. The area where the Spire once stood is now a crater. Fragments of the Spire can can be found elsewhere, turning the surrounding grass purple. At Sweaty Sands, a group of Islanders who support the aliens (led by Sunny) rebrand the area into Believer Beach and prepare for a summer concert welcoming the aliens in belief that they're friendly.

The invasion ramps up as the aliens unleash parasites onto the island, which provide mobility in exchange for health. Loopers start to get abducted into the mothership itself for experiments, for a chance to get powerful loot. Floating inside the mothership are small, fragmented islands from locations long past. Meanwhile, IO and the aliens have managed to get a hold of the opposing sides' weapons, with IO reducing the firing rates of the UFOs and the aliens reducing the usable time on Recon Trackers.

Alien parasites also make their way to the island and find hosts in the wildlife and loopers as the aliens begin xenoforming the landscape. On June 23, the mothership began to move counter-clockwise around the island from its starting location. Marigold speaks mysteriously of a plan to Midas and Jules.

As the summer concert takes off at Believer Beach, the aliens take an interest in the festivities, with a few coming down disguised as humans. Meanwhile, Dr. Slone sends members of IO to go undercover at the event, with the Looper, Midas, Jules, Ruby, and Crystal included while Brutus allows the invasion as is, seeing himself as off from work for the summer. Hayseed asks the Loopers to investigate Farmer Steel's disappearance.

As the summer concert wraps up, the Abductors cease experiments… for now. The IO reports that the alien troops are moving in westward. Holly Hedges is taken over by the aliens and turned into Holly Hatchery, where parasite eggs will be gestated and the environment is gradually xenoformed by alien nanites, including a growing zero gravity area. Zyg and Choppy also appear on the Island and begin planting parasite eggs in various areas as well. Dr. Slone sends her spy to get close to Sunny for being the de facto leader of the pro-alien movement. Meanwhile, the aliens begin amping up their attacks. As Abductors return at a stronger force for another week before disappearing again, Dr. Slone continues deploying her spy as Operation Fauxvine goes into effect. With the help of Rick, the IO creates the Inflat-A-Bulls. Bushranger tries adopting alien eggs and setting up nurseries for them, but finds out the hard way that parasites don't like the fire in "campfire". Riot is identified as a traitor and is apprehended by IO.

Dr. Slone suspects there's an alien infiltrator in IO's midst. After having moved to Believer Beach for the festivities, Joey returns to Dirty Docks. The Abductors return for another week and a new Abductor dubbed the "Party UFO" appears over the crater where the Zero Point was while displaying a mysterious timer counting down to an event in ten days. Bushranger has vanished from his spot near Risky Reels. A freshly-dug grave now rests in that location, leaving the scrappy little tree's fate uncertain. Bloodsport is sent to investigate the island by Amanda Waller.

The event being counted down is the Rift Tour, a concert spanning multiple realities via the rifts, starring the long-awaited chart-topping singer, Ariana Grande. Little does anyone know, it was a setup by the aliens to abduct Loopers and mind-probe them to learn more about the Zero Point. During the days the concert is going on, Guile and Cammy arrive from Ryu and Chun-Li's reality, most likely looking for their missing comrades, and help against the alien invasion. As the aliens continue xenoforming the Island, chunks of the factory at Slurpy Swamp are left floating in mid-air. Later, the stolen chunks of Slurpy Swamp were added to the tests conducted by the abductors, replacing the old locations.

Superman arrives on the island, suffering from the same loss of memory and powers the Marvel characters did, although the Loopers, with some help from Superman's allies, help him get back into fighting shape quickly. Wonder Woman later arrives to join her compatriots. At an IO base, investigations on the mysterious infiltrator continue. The imposter has been trapping agents in-between realities while sabotaging IO's work, and Dr. Slone suspects this imposter was working with Agent Jones. Meanwhile, IO determines that Joey is an alien spy and manages to recruit her to their side.

With the help of the Looper, Dr. Slone comes up with Operation: Skyfire, a secret back-up plan, for the destruction of the Mothership. Bombs are planted beneath Corny Complex once the place is abducted by the aliens. Marigold finally puts her plan into place, having loopers plant evidence and objects to encourage more direct confrontation between the aliens and the IO. Meanwhile, Midas has started to recall some his earliest recruits, starting with the Burning Wolf.

Dr. Slone puts the Looper to work, making final preparations to attack the ship. This work includes taking out the mole, identified as Maven. As the op is about to go into effect, Mari warns the listeners of Hot Saucers not to trust Slone, and that there's something in the Mothership that none of them know about. Operation: Skyfire is a go. Slone sends the Loopers to make sure Corny Complex's bombs go off. The Loopers are taken prisoner by the aliens, given the backpacks from the earlier tests, and helped through hordes of patrols by Slone, who's hacked the backpacks. When they get to the abduction area, its revealed that Kevin the Cube is housed in the ship, to Slone's horror. Slone manages to disable the cube, which kills several Loopers in the process, and start the countdown of the bombs, but she also refuses to bring the Loopers home, terrified of bringing the Cube back. The players reboot the cube, which turns a bright blue and raises everyone up to a higher level. However, it is discovered that the Mothership houses multiple Cubes. The bombs go off, and the mothership starts to collapse. The surviving Loopers manage to escape the collapsing ship, cubes raining down on the island, although the player's Looper collides with a piece of wreckage, knocking them out.

  • Alien Invasion: The theme of this season, with an entire Mothership looming above the Island, sending aliens and saucers out to attack.
  • Bear Hug: A synced emote added in Chapter 2 Season 7.
  • Cliffhanger: The end of the Operation: Skyfire event in Chapter 2 Season 7. Dr Slone has shanghaiied all the players into her ploy to destroy the alien mothership - before revealing that they were all going to be sacrificed along with it. You still find your own way out, and get flung out of the mothership as it starts coming apart... only for a downed abductor to crash into you. Cue 12 hours of server downtime.
  • Operation: [Blank]: The end-of-season live event for Chapter 2 Season 7 is called "Operation: Skyfire".
  • Parasol Parachute: Four this season.
    • The main umbrella reward this season was an alien spaceship-themed umbrella, appropriately named "Invasion".
    • The other three came out around the time of Ariana Grande's Rift Tour event.
      • The first, the "Cuddly Cloudcruiser", was a reward for attending the event.
      • The second, the "Rainbow Cloudcruiser", was rewarded to Fortnite Crew members during the event.
      • The third, the "Chrome Cloudcruiser", came from completing specific quests.
  • Tractor Beam: Towards the end of Chapter 2 Season 6, UFOs would randomly show up and abduct players with these - in the following season, you get to commandeer these UFOs, and use the tractor beam to throw players and any random junk you can pick up.
  • Visual Pun: The "Pump Up the Jam" emote is basically acting out all the lyrics, with "jam" represented by miming holding up a jar of jam.

    Season 8: Cubed
Season 8 ran from September 13 to December 4, 2021, introducing a corrupted Island, Sideways biomes and hostile new enemies. In the aftermath of Operation: Sky Fire, the remains of the Mothership and the Cubes it was carrying litter the landscape of the Island. The Cubes create anomalies on the Island that connect to the Sideways, a reality home to monsters who are led by a mysterious being who seeks the destruction of the Island. There are also two unique Cubes on the island, a Golden Cube and a Blue Cube, the Blue Cube being the one the Loopers interacted with on the ship. Meanwhile, scuba divers search for the Foundation in the sea, who then awakens from his slumber on the ocean floor.

IO has moved to new bases, abandoning their previous ones, while Dr. Slone is now leading a mobile convoy. Meanwhile, the cubes have started to become mobile. Canisters containing samples of the Venom symbiote, and, unfortunately for the island, the Carnage symbiote, appear on the Island, hinting that the latter will be making an appearance.

The Golden Cube, seemingly the strongest of the cubes, has started to make smaller Cubes spawn from the large ones when it meets up with them. It is also more active than the others. During its journey around the Island, the Golden Cube reawakens the Cube at Steamy Stacks. Meanwhile, the other Cubes begin slowly corrupting the Island, starting at the crash sites. As the Fortnitemares kick off, terrifying characters appear to request the aid of the Loopers.

The Cubes, under the command of the Cube Queen and her Golden Cube, have converged on the Aftermath, forming into a makeshift city of sorts called the Convergence. The Queen herself looms above the city, preparing to unleash her power, as the number of sideways anomolies increases. In addition, massive cube fiends called Caretakers have arisen. Ariana Grande returns, revealing herself to be a space monster hunter in her spare time, and the Ghostbusters have turned as well, requiring aid of the Loopers. Fortnitemares is in full swing now, with decorations and candy everywhere. Meanwhile, the Cube-corrupted snapshot of Jonesy known as Dark Jonesy has his oracle powers restored, revealing that stopping the Cube Queen will require a great sacrifice... and if that sacrifice is not made, the Queen will destroy them all.

Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine find themselves drawn to the island, but quickly go back to business as usual, saving Doggo from a horde of soccer zombies. Meanwhile, the dreaded Batman Who Laughs, having found a way to survive his own destruction (albeit back to his baseline state) leads a small army of villains in trying to enter the rift in Metropolis. After Batman confronts the Foundation, the Batman Who Laughs tricks the Foundation into helping him enter the Loop. Batman, seeing no other way, decides to just let him stay there, thinking the Loop will be the perfect prison for him. The Batman Who Laughs, meanwhile, fights the Foundation and throws the fight as the storm comes in, his visor protecting him from losing his memories and abilities in the Loop. He plans on exploiting the Loop and using it to spread corruption to the entire Omniverse, having grown bored with just going after variants of the DC Universe. As he finds himself confronted by an army of Loopers, he laughs wildly, joyful at all the new souls to play with.

But just when all seems lost, a new superhero has entered the loop! With all the new threats looming over, our salvation arrives in the form of El Chapulín Colorado!... Oh. We're doomed. To make matters interesting, the Ax-Crazy, Bomb Throwing Anarchist Jinx (specifically, her Arcane version) shows up to start causing trouble. Meanwhile, when matches start, the laughter of the dreaded Cube Queen can now be heard... Fortnitemares has come and gone, but the horror still remains. The Convergence is slowly expanding, and starting to power up, becoming a pyramid.

As if the island didn't have enough problems, the Dark Phoenix shows up, possibly drawn in by the Cube Queen's power. The Cube Queen's damage to reality has opened a gateway to the Hidden Leaf Village. The recently elected Hokage, a recently redeemed missing-nin, a powerful medical-nin, and a famous teacher and former Hokage have come to the island to help, bringing in a supply of kunai marked with exploding tags for the Loopers. The teacher ninja even offers ninjutsu lessons for the Loopers to help improve their skills. Nick Fury (or at least an LMD of him) arrives on the island to help coordinate the final efforts against the Cube Queen and her evil minions. The endgame is almost here...

The Loopers gather on a fortress made near Pleasant Park, a makeshift base with turrets set up. The blue cube has been moved to this area, and is providing a defensive shield for the base. As everyone prepares, the Cube Queen starts sending waves of Cube Brutes to attack the Loopers. The Cube Queen then starts powering up, growing to giant size and opening a hole in the sky, letting the full might of the Last Reality through, many motherships and a great, giant Death Star-esque fortress seen in the distance. Flying saucers start flying through the shield and attacking the Loopers, the turrets getting destroyed. Abductors come through, and the Cube Queen unleashes an army of Caretakers, shattering the shield and surrounding the Loopers in a field of cubes. The blue cube fights back against the Caretakers, but the Abductors steal everyone's weapons, a golden Abductor powering up and destroying the blue cube, leaving the Loopers completely helpless, all but four getting exterminated. Meanwhile, deep below the surface of the island in the Imagined Order base, Dr. Slone is about to torture a captive John Jones. The Foundation bursts in and rescues Jonesy, taking him to the Loop entrance and having him disable rotation control while he rearranges things. Once done, he calls his allies. Back on the surface, The Visitor and the Scientist rescue the four remaining Loopers, the Scientist taking them underground as the island starts to rotate, leading them through the remains of the Imagined Order base as it falls apart, arriving in the Loop entrance with Jonesy and the Foundation. A Caretaker bursts through the glass dome, and the player Looper is sucked out of the flooding base and sent to the surface, arriving far enough away to watch the Cube Queen's pyramid short out as it comes in contact with the water, disabling the portal leading to the Last Reality, the island completing its flip and crushing the remaining Abductors and flying saucers. However, after it lands, the player Looper is caught in a tsunami created by the impact of the island, left adrift on a bit of debris in the middle of the ocean, their fate unclear...

  • The Corruption: The theme of this season, as the Last Reality spreads their corruption across the Island.
  • G-Rated Drug: Unicorn Flakes.
  • Godzilla Threshold: The end of Chapter 2 event. In the face of an all-out invasion by the Last Reality, the Foundation's best plan to stop the Cube Queen is to drown her in the ocean by flipping the whole island on top of her.
  • Parasol Parachute: The umbrella reward this season was a Cube-themed umbrella, referred to as the "Umbrella of the Last Reality".

Chapter 3

    Season 1: Flipped
Season 1 ran from December 5, 2021 to March 19, 2022, introducing a new flipped Island, a revised Loot Pool and new lore details. The player Looper washes up on the new island, staggering to their feet. They pass new characters Ronin and Harlowe, finding the Foundation with the rest of the Battle Pass skins resting at a campfire. He compliments the Looper on fighting the good fight, and warns of battles to come with the Imagined Order and the Last Reality. So long as the Order is exploiting the Zero Point, none of the Loopers can ever get home, but he promises to help destroy the IO and free everyone. Spider-Man is among the new heroes on the island, his web-shooter technology being made available to other Loopers. Not too long after, the Spider-Man and MJ of Earth-199999 show up as well.

Rifts to other worlds are still opening, this time bringing Marcus Fennix and Kait Diaz to the island, along with random bits of junk from their world. Winterfest begins, Sgt. Winter driving a truck around and throwing gifts to players, sending snapshots of Jonesy dressed as reindeer around to give candy to random players. Boba Fett and his allies come to the island while on Boba's quest to take over galactic crime.

Tornados and lightning storms start to plague the island, forming occasionally during matches. IO Agents start drilling out of the ground and establishing bases. Meanwhile, the snow has receded somewhat, revealing Tilted Towers and awakening massive(ly cute) dinosaur-like creatures called Klombos, which can potentially give loot if you feed them their favorite berries. The two Hawkeyes show up to join the other Avengers on the island. Meanwhile, Piltover enforcer Vi shows up as well, looking for her sister, Jinx. In addition, the Green Goblin tracks Spider-Man to the island, following him there to continue tormenting his longtime foe.

The IO hollows out Pinnacle Peak - the island's tallest mountain - and turns it into their base, Covert Cavern. A vault is guarded by the IO enforcer Gunnar, and mobile patrols have started to traverse the island. In addition, IO seems to be unearthing the remains of the Devourer for unknown purposes, and has actively interfered with Seven attempts to get in contact with the Paradigm. Nathan Drake and Chloe Frazer come to the island, tracking down buried treasure, while famous X-Men Gambit and Rogue come to the island as well, apparently on holiday. In addition, a sinkhole has destroyed the coffee shop in Tilted Towers, the first sign of things to come, as IO's drilling efforts continue. Earthquakes rattle the island, leading to the creation of sinkholes. The sinkholes claim a small diner, a house, and an outpost belonging to the Seven.

  • Cute Monster: An update in Chapter 3 Season 1 introduces Klombos, which are massive, extremely hard to hurt creatures that can tear down structures just by walking through them, but are also completely passive unless you attack them, lumbering about aimlessly, and have charming, wide-eyed faces. They also react with utter happiness if they spot a Klomberry, their favorite food, when thrown out by a player.
  • Oh, Crap!: Lampshaded in Chapter 3, when the Scientist makes you run up to the mountain range to find his seismographs.
A real scientist never admits it when things don't look good. They just say "huh, that's different." So... Huh. That's different.
  • Parasol Parachute: The umbrella reward this season was a Seven-themed umbrella, appropriately named "Seven Signet".
  • Restart the World: The theme of this season, as the Seven managed to flip the Chapter 2 Island and start anew.
  • Whole Costume Reference: Bruno Mars and Anderson.paak are wearing black kung fu pants and long yellow sweats, referencing Bruce Lee.

    Season 2: Resistance
Season 2 ran from March 20 to June 4, 2022, introducing a war between two factions, a Zero-Build mode and a variety of new movement abilities. The source of the earthquakes and sinkholes turn out to be the Imagined Order launching a massive attack on the island through a massive underground drilling machine. They end up claiming control of the majority of the island, with command blimps hovering over several named locations. The statue of the Foundation is also destroyed. The Loopers fight back as the I.O. patrols the island, but the I.O. has a trick up its sleeves; jammers that disable building completely. Dr. Strange comes to aid the forces of the Seven, bringing along other heroes, while the Prowler sides with the Imagined Order. The Seven redouble their efforts to bring Paradigm home, as the war to take back the island begins.

The Imagined, a member of the Seven, helps the Loopers in destroying the jammers and restoring building to the Island. Meanwhile, the Loopers attempt to gain the trust of the Origin, the Seven's tactician. Meanwhile, Mary Jane Watson finds herself on the island by sheer accident. Star athlete Chloe Kim joins the various other sports stars and celebrities aiding the Loopers. Meanwhile, Eizo Auditore di Firenze and Eivor Varinsdotter find themselves on the island.

Agent Jones helps the Loopers in gaining some IO tank armor, so they can build armored vehicles of their own out of Battle Buses. In addition, he also drafts the Loopers to help his buddy Peely learn how to drive. The Origin sends the Loopers on a training mission, while the Imagined receives assistance from the Paradigm, asking the Looper to help her in convincing Origin to use those plans. Meanwhile, the Seven as a whole have begun their assault to reclaim the island, starting with the Daily Bugle. The Imagined Order was successfully driven out of the Daily Bugle, the blimp getting destroyed. The Seven now makes their move on reclaiming Condo Canyon, and Moon Knight joins the Loopers on the island.

The Imagined Order continues to lose ground, as the blimp over Condo Canyon dropped into the ocean, while the battle moves to Coney Crossroads. Meanwhile, the Imagined has the Looper set up wiretaps at IO-controlled locations, as well as establish a direct connection to the Paradigm, tired of the Origin's refusal to trust her. Klomberries are starting to bloom again, creating the possibility that Klombos might be returning. John Jones, meanwhile, is worried about the various loopers' weapons training. Coney Crossroads is freed from IO control, and the fight heads to Rocky Reels. Agent Jones is becoming concerned that the Imagined Order's doomsday device division is becoming active, getting the Looper to set up spying devices. The Imagined has the Looper steal credentials from IO Guard for a private project, and The Origin has the Looper correct a mistake Peely made and retrieve real Seven data reports he sent out instead of the fake ones he was supposed to. Peely was subsequently reassigned to his original job, which, to The Origin's confusion, was learning to drive. He started to protest but decided to let it slide. The Looper's next assignment was to assist in the training of Loopers that had defected from the Imagined Order, growing tired of the constant losses they were suffering.

Blanka and Sakura Kasugano join their fellow street fighters on the island, destroying Peely's car as part of a training exercise. Rocky Reels is freed from IO control as the fight is taken to Tilted Towers. John Jones has the Looper set up propaganda machines both mocking IO and pleading for them to switch sides. The Origin, meanwhile, has the Looper replace IO munitions with fake ones. Jones then has the Looper hack into IO's records to get intel on the Sisters, only to find that all data on them is GONE. Something which Agent Jones thinks should be impossible, due to how meticulous IO's record-keeping is.

The Scarlet Witch arrives on the island for reasons unknown, and Imperial Stormtroopers briefly return as well, guarding various checkpoints on the island. While IO is driven out of Tilted temporarily, the Seven (mainly The Imagined and Jonesy) decide to have a party to celebrate what victories they have. Meanwhile, The Imagined has you collect and destroy some signal jammers while admitting she has no memory of her past. The Origin, meanwhile, decides to study the energy fields The Paradigm discovered, in hopes of refuting her findings. Once he's gotten his scans, he panics and calls for The Scientist's help.

Tilted is completely freed of IO influence, however the Imagined Order has countered by building a device near Loot Lake called the Collider. While the Seven work to repair their camaraderie, they have the Loopers look for parts of the Mecha Team Leader, realizing they'll need it in the near future. Meanwhile, Agent Jones continues to try and find data on the Sisters, the Order and the Imagined, only to realize that data on them has been purged even from older, lower-tech IO databases. Wondering who'd go to this extent, he realizes that it has to be Geno.

The Imagined, with the Looper's help, makes an announcement declaring her trust and loyalty to the Paradigm. The Origin has the Looper collect a pair of important keys, while Jonesy has them sabotage some of IO's power grids. This frees the Looper up to investigate a hidden holographic table for The Origin, which shows a simulation of what will happen to the island if the Collider is allowed to activate. What it shows is horrifying, the Loop and everyone in it being wiped out. The Origin, most likely remembering his past as the Cube King, refuses to allow another world to be destroyed. Meanwhile, Robocop and Obi-Wan Kenobi show up, the cyborg police officer and the Jedi master welcome last minute additions to the rebels. The Mecha is rebuilt completely, rechristened the Mecha Strike Commander. Origin has the Looper make an emergency broadcast telling everyone to get ready, while the Imagined has the Looper steal some extra power cells from Command Cavern to power up the Mecha. The final preparations are ready. Meanwhile, Jonesy has the Looper give Peely one last demonstration of safe driving in prep for his own test.

The Paradigm takes command of the pilot's seat, while four Loopers take command of the weapons systems. They make their way from the moonbase to the island, and fight their way through hordes of tanks, BRUTE mechs, and drill cars generating forcefields. The Fortress attempts to retaliate with a mega cannon, but the Paradigm retaliates with her own superweapon called the Heartbreaker, a huge laser built in the chest of the Mecha Strike Commander, destroying the Fortress completely. Blimps move in and strike down the mech, but Peely comes in with a Slurp truck for repairs. In defiance of all logic, dumping Slurp on the mech repairs it, overcharging its weapons. The Mecha Strike Commander activates a laser blade and takes out the blimp, with the forcefield around the Collider breaking down. Before the mecha can destroy it however, the ground collapses underneath it. Everyone gets out safely, but Slone, in a tank, retaliates with an army of soldiers. Jonesy and the Foundation help the Loopers make their way through the collapsed tower. The Zero Point, steadily rising, shows an image first of the Durr Burger in the real world, and then an image of Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi dueling. The Mecha starts coming back online. Jonesy attempts to talk down Slone, but already knows it's meaningless, but he distracts her long enough for the Mecha to swat her off the platform. Foundation welcomes Paradigm back, while the Zero Point focuses on an image of Geno. Foundation and Jonesy jump in the Zero Point to chase him, while Loopers finish off the Collider, which starts falling apart and exploding as the Zero Point sinks back to the center of the island. The Loopers, protected in the enclosed hands of the Mecha, are carried off to safety while Jonesy and Foundation fistbump, moving on to points unknown in the Zero Point...

  • Artificial Stupidity: Hijacking a tank without killing the IO soldiers manning the turrets will lead them shooting the tank they are currently on, trying to kill the player in the driver's seat.
  • Damn You, Muscle Memory!: The start of this season removed building from main modes, which had been a core mechanic of the game since day 1. This put some players reliant on building into situations where they would try to build cover, but couldn't.
  • Parasol Parachute: The umbrella reward this season was an Imagined Order-themed umbrella, specifically referred to as the Gunn-brella, named after the IO agent Gunnar, and not any other Gunn.
  • War Arc: The theme of the season, as the Loopers got caught up in a war between the Imagined Order and the Seven.

    Season 3: Vibin'
Season 3 ran from June 5 to September 17, 2022, introducing a Slurpshroom biome, a party theme and special items. The war is over. The Imagined Order has been defeated and the island is at peace. ...LET'S PARTY! Command Cavern is taken over by Cuddle Team Leader and her people, who turn it into the party house Rave Cave, and a boat course has been set up over the fallen Zero Point and the expanded Loot Lake. The Fortress is gone save for the drill, which is now covered in graffiti, and magical mushrooms and reality trees have sprouted up over the island. Everyone's in a good mood, and even the infamous Darth Vader is behaving himself for the most part. Indiana Jones has come to the island to explore, and everyone's just having a good time in general, even with the shadow of Geno looming over the Loop...

Roots of the reality tree are starting to appear across the island, blooming where they show up. A large root has appeared in Logjam Lumberyard. In addition, the last surviving Ghost and Shadow Henchmen have been found, the two having befriended the last surviving Trespasser. Roots continue to spread. Another large root has appeared near the Butter Barn, and the root near Logjam Lumberyard has bloomed, becoming Logjam Lotus, reality switching between three different locations each match. The Scientist is starting to panic, and has the Looper do some research on the Reality Tree, including planting a Bushranger seedling, studying the Zero Point, and analyzing the various Star Wars points of interest that have shown up. The Scientist is rapidly becoming afraid that he may have made a critical mistake in his calculations, and that's why the Reality Tree is here at all...

The shifts in reality due to the Reality Tree allow for more people from Team Seven's world to come over, including Sasuke's brother, Itachi, the menacing Sannin, Orochimaru, Naruto's biggest fan, Hinata, and the Fifth Kazekage, Gaara. The root near Butter Barn has bloomed, warping that area in a fashion similar to Logjam Lotus. More roots are starting to appear all over the island as the Seven, particularly the Origin and the Scientist, are becoming uneasy. Meanwhile, the Henchman and their Trespasser buddy are going traveling, recruiting the last surviving IO Guard...

The Scientist, with the help of an AI that he's created named AMIE, recovers a Sith artifact from a looper known as Cryptic, although AMIE's overly affectionate behavior towards the Scientist is putting her into question... The roots around the temple near The Jones' have bloomed, forming an even more elaborate temple called Shuffled Shrines, with treasures inside for any Looper clever enough to figure out how to get to them. Meanwhile, Thor returns to the island, alongside his female counterpart. The Henchmen and the Trespasser have befriended the last IO Guard, and are (as of this writing) currently singing Shanty For A Squad together at Lockie's Lighthouse...

The Scientist has the Looper and AMIE investigate Shuffled Shrines, finding pieces of a relic and assembling it to get Zero Point readings. The Scientist is sure the Zero Point is trying to tell them something, but he's not sure what... The infamously effective insurance agency, No Sweat Insurance, lead by its recently revealed leader, the Underwriter, hosts a summer party, inviting everyone to have a good time for free! (And maybe sign up for a policy or two. You never know what might happen...) Lil Whip debuts his album... and promptly goes on the run, as he doesn't have enough money to repay his chief investor, the Underwriter. John Cena shows up as well. Meanwhile, the northernmost parts of Sleepy Sounds and Condo Canyon have become hosts to reality blooms, as the reach of the Reality Tree continues to expand...

The party passes without incident. A new artifact shows up (a small chair that was on top of a mountain in Chapter 2), protected by a shield, the increasingly frantic Scientist having you go through training to break the shield. The Daily Bugle's seed blooms, turning it into Lazy Lagoon, only the Daily Bugle sign remaining. In addition to all that, Goku, Vegeta, Beerus, and Bulma show up on the island, along with a handful of locations from their world and some of Bulma's equipment as well... More outsiders show up as Paradigm sends the Looper to check on some of her comrades. Foundation absence isn't too surprising, considering that he and Jonesy went into another realm to chase Geno, but the lack of flight plans is disturbing. But then she finds out that the Imagined is missing, along with the normally reliable Visitor and Order. With four members of the Seven missing, Paradigm calls Scientist and Origin into an emergency meeting.

Starfire arrives on the island as the reality distortions at Logjam Lotus stabilize, turning the place into Logjam Junction. More of the Seven goes missing, leaving only Paradigm and a panicked AMIE. There's evidence that they may be going underground, but its still questionable. Especially since the Looper keeps finding abandoned helmets... A mysterious ooze is appearing in various places around the island...

The Paradigm has the Looper team up with AMIE to check on things, only to find a partially damaged message from the Scientist, apologizing for a major mistake, and saying that he's gone. Soon after that, and checking a few more files, AMIE realizes that ALL of the Seven are gone, and she's alone with just the Looper...

  • Go-Karting with Bowser: The cinematic trailer for Chapter 3 Season 3 features Darth Vader, one of the most famous villains in all of fiction...waiting in line for an amusement park ride and then promptly having fun riding it, though he does end up knocking Peely off the track in the process.
  • Lighter and Softer: After Chapter 3, Season 2's storyline involving the season long war against the Imagined Order to liberate the island from them, resulting in several locations being destroyed in the crossfire and cumulating with the deployment of the Mecha Team Leader to destroy their doomsday weapon, the Chapter 3, Season 3 trailer follows this up with depicting the victorious Loopers having fun with watersports, amusement park rides and parties. This is even acknowledged by the season's title, "Vibin", which is a general term referring to relaxation.
  • Parasol Parachute: Two this season.
    • The main umbrella reward this season was a lotus-themed umbrella, referred to as the "Battle Bloom".
    • The second umbrella reward came from the Summer 2022 "No Sweat Summer" event, with the Sweaty Sailer being added as a reward for quest completion.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: This season introduced the Scientist's AI assistant, the Artificial Machine Intelligence Engine also known as AMIE, who's pretty much Ray from Save the World but as a Yandere.
  • Themed Party: The theme of this season was a massive Island-wide party.
  • You Must Be This Tall to Ride: This season's cinematic trailer has a scene where a Stormtrooper realizes they're too short to ride, so Darth Vader lifts them higher using the Force, which apparently satisfies the ride manager.

    Season 4: Paradise
Season 4 ran from September 18 to December 3, 2022, introducing a new Chrome mechanic, corrupted zones and spooky updates. It starts out with disaster. Agent Jones is back, but the Foundation, the Imagined, and the Order are missing. The Origin, the Scientist, and the Visitor have been overtaken by the chrome substance that's spread over many portions of the island, and the Seven's former base is now the home of the Herald of an entity known as "The Nothing" (no relation to the one from The Neverending Story... as far as we know). The Paradigm was forced to flee to another reality. The Reality Tree has either progressed to autumn or withered, lacking its former glow, and there are anomalies all over the island now. The island is in danger once again, and it is a chrome threat...

With the Chrome overtaking many areas of the island, some locations have opted to airlift their buildings/residences to escape the invasion, namely The Driftwood (the pirate ship formerly docked in the now-Chromified Lazy Lagoon), part of No Sweat Insurance, and much of Condo Canyon. Additionally, an IO blimp that the Loopers took over, grafittied, and renamed "The Flairship" has taken flight. It's discovered that the Seven had secretly built underground research labs underneath three different locations: one underneath a recently-rebuilt house near Tilted Towers, another under Synapse Station, and a third under the Launchpad. They're not the only things hiding underground, though, as various vaults containing high-quality weapons and gear have also been built both underground and in the sky at multiple locations, all of them unlockable by acquiring keys scattered across the island.

Despite the invading Chrome, the henchmen continue their usual routine, eventually being joined by a Seven Sentry that had been spying on them. Agent Jones and AMIE do not start off well, trading insults with each other as they try to figure out what happened to every member of the Seven, using the Looper to do analysis of the Reality Tree's status and of a nearby anomaly. As they conduct more tests, while they still do not get along, they start to cooperate to try and save the island and the Seven. Thanks to analysis of an anomalous Reality Tree root, Jones is able to discover that the Paradigm is sending messages back to the island, and with the help of the Looper and AMIE, create a translator to decode them and keep in touch with her. At the Paradigm's suggestion, the Looper picks up the Scientist's research into the Chrome, then attacks the Herald as per battle plans drafted by the Origin. Neither proves conclusive, however, and the Paradigm ultimately has to cut communication, which Jones takes as a cue to go dark for a while...

One of the loopers, Bytes, begins working with The Nothing, who promises the young man power. Over the following weeks, Bytes furthers The Nothing's goals and becomes its formidible warrior, losing his sense of identity in the process. After a couple weeks, Shifty Shafts is suddenly replaced with Grim Gables, a large farm estate. Simultaneously, the spreading of the Chrome continues, notably consuming Coney Crossroads, a gas station near the Chrome-covered Shifty Shrine, the Butter Barn's land, and most of the land in Sleepy Sound's area. No Sweat Insurance moves in to assist Coney in lifting its buildings off the ground. Additionally, part of the consumed gas station (named Driftin' Double Pumps), as well as the Butter Barn and Lofty Lighthouse also take to the skies, with what remains of Sleepy Sound making preparations to join them. Most pressing, however, is that the Chrome seems to be consuming more and more of the land surrounding the Reality Tree...

...And as Fortnitemares begins, all of the land surrounding the tree is fully overrun, with the wolf-like DJ Lyka and her Howlers claiming the area as a rave venue. Those looking to join in are invited to perform a ritual dance on altars spread across the island and gain the sharp claws and heightened senses of a wolf. Knowby Cabin, residence of Ashley J. Williams, also appears. The remnants of Shifty Shafts' mines are uncovered beneath Grim Gables, wherein resides a mysterious, inky being known as the Inkquisitor, who does not take kindly to those who impede upon his ritual attempts. Meanwhile, the Chrome consumes most of Logjam Junction and moves in on Tilted Towers and Greasy Grove, while most of Sleepy Sound, with the help of No Sweat Insurance, has been successfully airlifted. Fortnitemares ends after a couple weeks, but there's no time to relax after dealing with the various frights it brought with it — not only has the Chrome continued its encroachment, notably continuing to creep towards Tilted Towers and forcing Shell or High Water and Crackshot's Cabin to take to the skies, but Darth Vader and his Stormtroopers have unexpectedly returned to the island, with Rebel Alliance members Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Leia Organa making their way there as well.

The Herald sees fit to send messengers (read: us) to residents of the island, warning them of the island's coming fate. Notably, Peace Syndicate member Evie, who made her presence known last season, responds to this warning by stating that she needs to "send a transmission". A few days after Vader leaves the island once more, the inevitible finally happens: Tilted Towers becomes partially consumed by the Chrome, becoming Tainted Towers, with the area's clock tower lifting off the ground. As the Chrome continues to creep towards Grim Gables, a nearby cabin also gets airlifted.

After almost two months of radio silence, during which time AMIE and Jones have executed multiple plans to try and rescue the Scientist, the Paradigm finally re-establishes contact with the island... and unfortunately, she doesn't have good news. Put bluntly, reality as we know it will end, no matter what. Even still, the Paradigm has a plan. She's confirmed that the Zero Point, as per the Scientist's suspicions, has gone dormant, and it needs to be woken up. Utilizing research notes on the Zero Point left by the Scientist, as well as data relating to a secret initiative ominously referred to as the "Loop Breaker" project, the Looper, Jones, and AMIE use objects referred to as "attunement anchors" to tether themselves to the island's energy to hopefully keep themselves together when reality breaks down, then (with the help of Bushranger) send all the research data they've collected over to the Paradigm. Jones and AMIE also finally agree to put the hatchet behind them (mostly) and be friends.

As the island continues to deteriorate, the loopers group up at a fortified Reality Tree to hopefully survive what's coming... and what's coming is the Herald, who arrives in a cyclone of Chrome and walks along a mid-air pathway of Chrome towards the Tree. While the loopers are able to defeat her, she quickly reforms as a giant, Chrome version of herself, which easily defeats the Loopers and consumes the Reality Tree in one fell slam. She then merges with the Tree, as the island - and reality itself - is completely consumed... and shatters into pieces. Reality Zero is no more ...But the attunement anchors worked! The Paradigm re-establishes contact with the still-intact loopers and AMIE, who are pulled back towards the Zero Point, which also grabs shattered parts of the island. Fragments of the Zero Point's energy are scattered across the fractured landmass, and as the loopers collect them, the Zero Point heals, pulling more and more of the island in. At the same time, the Paradigm and AMIE are providing status updates, and the former tells the latter to prepare her suit for "Zero Fusion", a process that she likely will not survive.

  • Eventually, the loopers gather enough energy for the Paradigm to initiate Zero Fusion. After telling AMIE to inform the Scientist (if she can find him) that the Paradigm understood the risks, and telling everyone that she hopes to see them on the other side, the Paradigm initiates Zero Fusion...

  • Explosions in Space: During the Fracture event, The entirety of Reality Zero is blown to smithereens.
  • Metallic Motifs: The theme of the season, with Chrome corrupting the entire Island.
  • Parasol Parachute: The umbrella reward this season was a Chrome-themed umbrella, appropriately named "Chromebrella".

Chapter 4

    Season 1: Reforged
Season 1 ran from December 4, 2022 to March 9, 2023, introducing a newly (re-)forged Island, new guest characters and a fantasy theme. The Zero Fusion process pulls fragments from other realities, including the snow-covered one the Paradigm's currently in, to reforge Reality Zero. A few recognizable individuals, including the Doom Slayer (and a Cacodemon he was fighting at the time), Geralt of Rivia and his steed Roach, the Hulk, and MrBeast, as well as a cel-shaded pickaxe resembling a certain All-Mighty superhero from Japan, are also drawn in amidst the chaos. In the end, Reality Zero is successfuly reborn, and after a well-deserved camping break, the player's looper makes their way to the new island.

While Reality Zero has been reforged, the process wasn't perfect: fragments of land and other large objects surround the new island in space, one of which acts as the new spawn area for the loopers. The island itself, meanwhile, is a bizarre hodge-podge of modern and medieval, and the entire north-east region is an arctic wasteland (save for one incongrous sliver). Additionally, very little of the old island(s) actually made its way to the new one; Slurp has been overtaken by the soda-like, energy-boosting Slap as the shield-granting liquid of choice, and the only notable landmarks and icons that survived/returned are the giant Cuddle Team Leader head that was built atop Rave Cave, the Imagined Order's drill tank (still graffitied over, no less), the Spillex sign, the remains of the Reality Tree (with the Herald still merged with it), and the good ol' clocktower from Tilted Towers, once again in notable disrepair. Most distressingly, though, the Paradigm was seemingly caught in the middle of the reforging and has gone missing, and none of the other Seven members have resurfaced.

The various points of interest around the island have capture zones, indicated by a flagpole, that the loopers are able to claim by standing in them long enough. Claiming these zones grants an initial drop of loot, plus marks the area's treasure chests and any enemies that happen to be skulking about. At pure random, miniature rifts are opening up across the island, and from them emerge familiar faces, including the hench-bros! For now, though, they're just content to camp wherever they emerge from.

Without the Seven around, AMIE recklessly initiates the Scientist's "Reality Augmentation" system, which he considered too dangerous to test... but AMIE just skips that step and goes ahead with it anyway! Periodically throughout the match, loopers are able to pick between two augments to improve their performance, be it anything from obtaining weapons, making vehicles they drive have more health and infinite fuel, gaining the ability to redeploy their glider at any time, or healing whenever they hide in large foliage. After messing with the Reality Augments for a bit, AMIE tasks the looper with gathering the broken pieces of the final mission assigned by the Paradigm, which when decoded, reveals that she wants them to deliver a box of some refined rocks to Shattered Slabs, the island's quarry. While AMIE's confused at the notion, she doesn't ponder that for long as she immediately realizes that, with the Seven MIA, completing this task means she'll no longer be bound by her primary directive, a fact that gives her concern. AMIE's new-found free will weighs heavily on her, clouding her judgment with dark, surprisingly violent thoughts. In an effort to take her mind off things, she asks the looper to study the kinetic ore used across the new island. This ore is being mined for fuel at Shattered Slabs, and is also used in many of the items and weaponry found on the island, most notably the colossal Shockwave Hammers, and after being refined through some unknown means, those rocks we delivered are 100 times more powerful than the ore. After some investigation, including a battle against the Ageless Champion who rules over the massive Citadel, AMIE has a realization: while the Scientist had claimed no material was strong enough to contain her, this kinetic ore has proven so strong and durable that it might just do the job, and asks the looper to help build her an experimental exoskeleton.

In addition to the usual holiday trappings, the start of Winterfest brings with it a familiar location: Crackshot's Cabin, which survived the old island's destruction and was visible off in the distance as the loopers gathered Zero Fragments, but up till now had been left adrift in space. Meanwhile at Warden's Watch, the Ageless' faction, the Oathbound - whose symbol suspiciously has elements of the Imagined Order's insignia, perhaps implying that they're a precursor to the IO in some form or fashion - are at work on a mysterious portal.

Fear not, loopers! For Japan's greatest superhero, All Might, is here — and he brought some company! Some of UA High's best and brightest, including All Might's successor Izuku "Deku" Midoriya, Deku's explosive rival Katsuki Bakugo, and master of "Uravity" Ochaco Uraraka are along for the ride, and by accessing certain vending machines or All Might-branded supply drops, loopers are able to tap into the power of One For All, allowing them to let loose a mighty Detroit Smash. Say it with us now: GO BEYOND! PLUS! ULTRA!

A couple weeks after Winterfest ends, the Looper is contacted by Stellan, also known as the Warden, the Oathbound's alchemist. He's the one in charge of building that portal at the Watch: a Rift Gate with which to travel between realities, another disturbing parallel to the IO. Seeing as how the refined Kinetic Ore we delivered appears to be the key to making the Gate work, Stellan (somewhat recluctantly) asks that we aid him. After the Looper obliges, Stellan divulges his own personal reasons for constructing the Gate: that there exists a "Shapeless Man" that watches over the island with some dark purpose in mind, and that the Gate must be completed to prevent a dire fate.

AMIE finds Stellan's intentions... dubious, to say the least. After analyzing his data, AMIE conducts a test of the Gate's warping capablilities on vessels acquired by the Looper. The vessels are injected with pieces of AMIE's code and sent through her test rift, then land back on the island... changed. They ominously warn that "they" have become different, noting a "he" in particular whose existence is being sculpted anew by some unknown entity, and that we will find him... but possibly not in time to save him from a fate darker than dark. AMIE quickly realizes who the man her copies are talking about is: the Scientist, and her test rift locked onto his coordinates!

As construction on the Warden's Rift Gate continues, two notable newcomers arrive: spaceship engineer/Necromorph killer Isaac Clarke and Australian rapper The Kid LAROI, the latter of whom lets the loopers bear witness to his Wild Dreams. With AMIE needing to use the Rift Gate to save the Scientist, the Looper re-establishes contact with Stellan and helps him finish his work on the Gate. He also divulges that, before joining the Oathbound, he was a nameless nobody with no family, and he came to them at the behest of the Shapeless Man himself, who wanted a Rift Gate and continually whispers to Stellan in his sleep. Stellan fears that, if the Rift Gate fails, the Shapeless Man will descend upon the island... and destroy it.

With the Rift Gate complete and the Ageless ready to try opening it soon, AMIE and the looper finish preparing to build her new body. After initiating construction, AMIE thanks the Looper for everything... and disconnects. But while we're having this sad goodbye (for now), the island says hello to two new faces from Universe 7 in the form of Son Gohan and Piccolo. Oh, and some graffitied-over wanted posters have been popping up across the island. The wanted posters soon reveal the introduction of the Cold Blooded Syndicate, a heist faction who have set up shop across Faulty Splits, Brutal Bastion and Shattered Slabs that house guarded vaults containing exotic weapons and their fortunes obtained from previous heists. There have been numerous attempts to loot these vaults which leads to the formation of another group called the Most Wanted, who try to acquire the loot and weapons from the vaults, all while trying to avoid being hunted down by the Cold Blooded. During this, new Captain America Sam Wilson and Brazilian YouTuber Flakes Power make their way on to the island.

A couple weeks pass, and we soon find out that the Cold Blooded have abandoned the vaults, leading to the vaults being opened up and looted, while Stellan warns that the Rift Gate could tear a permanent hole in reality and tries to tell the truth of the Shapeless Man to the Champion, but cannot. Stellan instructs the Looper to turn on the Rift Gate, warning that if the Rift Gate is unstable that the stars would determine the Looper's fate. The Rift Gate ends up being unstable, and Stellan fails to shut it off, determining that someone manipulated the Rift Gate coordinates! As the Rift Gate begins to destabilize, Adonis Creed is welcomed on to the island, cipher codes are revealed leading to underground bases located in Anvil Square and Lonely Labs, while recruitment posters for the Peace Syndicate begin to appear in various locations...

With the Rift Gate destabilized, Stellan warns the Looper that the Rift Gate can open the entire sky, and has no idea what is on the other side of it. The Rift Gate ends up being destroyed due to the unstable energy, and a massive red crack opens in the sky above the destroyed Rift Gate. Stellan asks the Looper to take telescopes to locations he has marked and to look up at the sky. As the Looper looks up to the sky seeing the massive red crack expanding, Stellan thanks the Looper for everything.

  • Deliberate Under-Performance: One bizzare weekly challenge from this season tasks you with finishing anywhere in a match but first place, meaning that players must avoid winning a match in order to progress and complete this challenge.
Challenge Description: Winning isn't everything... right?
  • Fantasy: The theme of this season, introducing an entire medieval forest and a massive castle.
  • Parasol Parachute: Three this season.
    • The main umbrella reward this season was an umbrella themed after the Ageless' armor, dubbed "The Peerless Parasol".
    • The second umbrella reward was a reward for placing in the Top 100,000 during the Mr Beast tournament in December 2022, known as the "Beast Brella".
    • The third umbrella reward was a reward for winning a match during the "Most Wanted" mini-event.

    Season 2: MEGA (メガ)
Season 2 ran from March 10 to June 8, 2023, introducing an anime aesthetic, a futuristic city and the Unreal Engine for Fortnite editor. The crack in the sky finally opens, with multiple rifts opening up and dropping buildings and pieces of environment right on top of Faulty Splits and much of the southeastern corner of the island, which suddenly transforms into a new, very Japanese biome, with the cyberpunk-style MEGA City as the new major landmark — the only major sign Faulty Splits was even there is a literal sign, that of the bowling alley that gave the location its name. Furthermore, the Cold Blooded's vaults at Shattered Slabs and Brutal Bastion have been replaced with new vaults that require a keycard held by the criminal boss known as Highcard, who also controls a vault in MEGA City. As well, a loot-rich floating island by the name of Loot Island, which has the house from the center of Loot Lake from all the way back in Chapter 1 on it, has been teleporting in at seemingly random locations late into matches. The new biome also has a group of mysterious, spire-like monoliths... After beating a mysterious arcade game, the looper is contacted by Evie, the Peace Syndicate member who arrived on the island back in Chapter 3, Season 2. Directing the looper to MEGA City, which turns out to be her home from her original reality, she introduces them to her boss, the reptilian lieutenant/sushi chef Thunder. After having the looper do some target practice, the two inform us of what's going on: some unknown figure is attempting to start a syndicate war, currently by means of sabotaging one gang and pinning the blame on another, and the ensuing chaos will allow them to take control of MEGA City. The Peace Syndicate just became this saboteur's latest victim, targetting their data network. Helping to re-establish their connection, the looper digs through the Syndicate's database (inadvertantly finding out that our old pal Peely has been scouted by them) and finds a set of corrupted files... files that Evie reveals contained everything the Peace Syndicate knew about the Army of the Last Reality. Uh oh.

As Evie and Thunder begin working on plans to try and unite the syndicates together against their common foe, Chris Redfield's sister Claire and her friend, Raccoon City police officer-turned-U.S. government agent Leon S. Kennedy, arrive on the island. Eventually, after winning them over, the looper and co. manage to get two of the other syndicates, the River Guard and (unexpectedly) the returning Fox Clan, to agree to meet with each other. Surprisingly, the two groups manage to hash things out civilly, and agree to unite with us in our hunt for the saboteur. Soon after, another anime invasion occurs in the form of three members of the Survey Corps: Titan controller Eren Yeager, his adoptive sister Mikasa Ackerman, and Corps captain Levi Ackerman, who also bring along some of their gear for the loopers to fly around and blow each other up with. MEGA City also begins expanding its reach, installing grind rails over at Slappy Shores.

A crack forms in the ground near Hidden Henge, possibly indicating that the island might begin suffering earthquakes again. Those monoliths found in the new biome have also multiplied, with the medieval and tundra biomes now also having a set each. A mysterious woman, Serenade, has begun randomly appearing at one of these groups of monoliths, where she sings an alluring melody. What could all this mean? A couple weeks later, The Luminaries, a tech-oriented syndicate, informs us that the saboteur's been stealing weapon prototypes from their labs. We track the prototypes down for them, and they provide us with a sensor backpack to zero in on the saboteur's location. After that's done, Thunder and Evie inform the looper that the saboteur is embedded within another syndicate, The Unseen — an unpredictable faction that causes massive amounts of chaos with no regard for what happens to the innocents caught in the crossfire. This naturally makes the subtlety of the saboteur's attacks all the more fishy...

Just two days shy of May the Fourth, the era of the Galactic Republic descends upon the island, with soon-to-be-fallen Jedi Anakin Skywalker, his secret love Padmé Amidala, and renegade Sith warrior Darth Maul joining a returning Obi-Wan Kenobi and a battallion of Clone Troopers. Grind rails are installed at Shattered Slabs, and an area north of Anvil Square begins suffering earthquakes, with cracks forming in the ground in its biome; more earthquake spots are located the following day. The following week, the villainous doppelganger from the future known as Goku Black arrives on the island, perhaps seeking to carry out his Zero Mortals Plan in Reality Zero. As the fall of the Galactic Republic plays out across the island, Evie, Thunder, and The Luminaries have the looper don a disguise to talk with The Unseen's de facto leader, Highwire (or, failing that, her right-hand-robo-skeleton-man Renzo the Destroyer) about the saboteur's activities. Upon being informed that one of their ranks has been working behind their back AND potentially colluding with the Last Reality, The Unseen drop their beef with the other syndicates and allow us to destroy the signal jammers they've been using to communicate with the enemy. With that done, the looper has done the seemingly-impossible: ALL the syndicates have come together to ensure the safety of MEGA City from whatever this unseen threat might be, and Evie and Thunder officially make the looper an unofficial member of the Peace Syndicate, ensuring that they'll have our back in the future. And as all this goes down, spider-person Gwen Stacy, who arrived on the island during the Chrome invasion, has been having loopers put up posters asking a simple question: "Where's Miles?"

The earthquakes have continued to grow in size and intensity as the days go by, though multiple oddities emerge that make these quakes... different. Vines have begun emerging from the cracks formed by the tremors, and, buried underneath the sound of the ground shaking, one might be able to hear... the Zero Point? Right on cue, Miles Morales warps in from the Spider-Verse, with the aggressive Miguel O'Hara, Spider-Man of the year 2099, in hot pursuit. Web-shooters also make a return, though anyone using them will have to contend with the wannabe Titan-slayers still occupying the island's airspace. As the quakes continue, a couple excavation sites pop up at some of the cracks, and loopers are tasked with placing seismographs at the fault lines. Just what is this all leading to?

  • Japan Takes Over the World: The theme of this season, which introduced a Tokyo-esque metropolis and oriental temples and gardens.
  • Parasol Parachute: The umbrella reward this season was an anime-themed umbrella, referred to as the "MEGA Brella".

    Season 3: Wilds
Season 3 ran from June 9 to August 24, 2023, introducing an underground jungle, mud mechanics and special elements. The earthquakes have ceased, revealing an entire jungle biome that lay underneath the middle section of the island, with Anvil Square being crushed and the arctic biome shrinking as a result. Wild velociraptors roam, and ancient architecture (including a large temple where Anvil Square previously was) dots the land. Also, human-sized avatars of both Autobot leader Optimus Prime and Maximal commander Optimus Primal have appeared... and in the shadows, a familiar face makes an unwelcome return. Slone's back, and she's almost certainly got some sort of plan in motion. The Snapshot Aura tasks us with uncovering an artifact known as the Chalice of Cubetastrophe before the explorer Trace does and winds up accidentally causing havoc. Turns out that not only was it made by the cubes (connecting it to the Last Reality), but its power was modified further by Orelia, and obtaining it requires an offering of gold bars. After grabbing it, the Looper instantly transforms into the queen herself before returning to Aura and handing the Chalice off. Aura assures us that she'll have her contact properly seal the Chalice away, preventing it from threatening the island.

Audio logs left by Slone have been found in the new biome, revealing what she's been up to: ends up she'd been stuck here for some time, making plans and investigating the area. Her research reveals that the ruins in the biome aren't traditionally datable, and that the jungle's old residents - a group of scientifically-minded inventors and visionaries - seemingly vanished out of nowhere. While there's no sign some massive catastrophe happened, they did leave a message Slone believes was meant for her to find, and she's also uncovered a mysterious, busted device Slone figures is a "stellar projector" that uses kinetic ore prisms to manipulate light. If true, Slone believes that the device will be key to her plans, whatever they might be. There's another wrinkle to this, too: if the player's looper happens to bear the guise of Gunnar, talking to her Snapshot indicates that she has no interest in returning to the IO — whatever Slone intends on doing, she's doing it purely for herself. As the weeks pass, loopers come across those prisms in the various ruins across the jungle, bringing them to Trace. Surely, he means well and is using these purely for the great cause of exploration, right?

Attentive drivers find a mysterious transmission on one of the radio channels. Said transmission is from none other than Optimus Prime, who warns that our reality is doomed to collapse, and that the time has come to make our escape. He makes sure to state that hope is not yet lost, and before he has to cut transmission, Prime promises more to come. More audio logs from Slone are found, revealing that she's ingratiated herself with "The Explorers", Trace's group of... well, explorers, backed by The Luminaries. She's convinced them to excavate the site surrounding the Apparatus so that she can figure out how to use it. Considering that we've been giving Trace those kinetic ore prisms, we might be playing into Slone's hands already... but that might not be a bad thing? Optimus sends another transmission through the radios, revealing that him and Slone have been in contact with each other, and that while Slone might be an unlikely ally, she's the only one who knows the path forward. Additionally, a crystal has appeared in the main temple at Rumble Ruins, situated in front of a door bearing the Autobot insignia. Interacting with it plays another message from Optimus, revealing that the island's power has faded, causing formidible foes to take notice. We'll have to venture into the unknown to find answers to our newfound problem, as according to Prime, they lie in the starless void that brought us here...

A mysterious hunter named Relik, who apparently was the one who rescued Slone from her plight, has emerged from hiding in the jungle, patrolling atop Rumble Ruins. Battling him and coming on top allows the victor to claim his assault rifle and Cloak Gauntlets, which are exactly what the name suggests. Non-Mythic versions of the Cloak Gauntlets have also begun appearing across the island. Shortly after, two magic-inclined ladies from Geralt's world arrive: sorceress Yennefer of Vengerberg and Geralt's adoptive daughter Ciri. Another message from Optimus arrives, and he discloses that the jungle's mysterious former denizens discovered some kind of secret hidden among the stars. The hidden technology they left behind is our key to studying the stars and figuring this secret out, so... back to exploring, it seems! Shortly after Optimus' broadcast, the annual summer celebration begins, with Sunswoon Lagoon, a small settlement in the jungle, being decorated accordingly.

Not long after the celebrations end, the Looper aids Triggerfish (who himself is working on behalf of Princess Byrne) in rescuing the Coral Buddies from Turk and Riptide, who had kidnapped them for the purpose of selling them off to a wealthy collector. A few days after, MEGA City sees the unexpected arrival (read: crash-landing) of a spaceship belonging to delivery company Planet Express, crewed by Philip J. Fry, Turanga Leela, and Bender Bending Rodriguez; perhaps coincidentally, their counterparts from Universe 1 also appear.

The fourth and final kinetic ore prism is discovered and brought to Trace around this time, and he states that, if Slone's theory is correct, things are about to get "really interesting." Speaking of Slone, she's relocated to the main temple in Rumble Ruins alongside a bunch of equipment, and a mural depicting what appears to be some kind of telescope-like device is uncovered from beneath some vines — it's clear that the implication is that this is the Apparatus we've been working to get up and running. Optimus also sends his final message through the radios, simply telling us that we must look to the past and brave the unknown before giving a hearty "Fight on, and roll out!"

Soon after, the island sees the return of a familiar face in the form of the T-800, but this time from before its noble sacrifice, hence its human appearance. Then, a swarm of cursed llamas suddenly appears, with Jujutsu High students Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, and Nobara Kugisaki, as well as teacher Satoru Gojo coming to investigate. And a week later, WWE Superstars Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair suddenly enter the ring.

As all this is going down, Slone tasks the looper with retrieving Stellan's refined Kinetic Ore schematics, which were swiped by a criminal who goes by "Stingray". The looper finds the schematics' hiding place in a labyrinth hidden underneath Lonely Labs, retrieves them, and sends them off to Slone. Using them, the "good" doctor is able to ping the island for traces of the refined Ore's energy, which the looper uses to uncover enough of the stuff to supercharge the now-rebuilt Apparatus, in truth a stellar projector containing ancient knowledge. After some slight hints that her and the Explorers are falling out, the Ore is placed at the Apparatus, and it's turned on. Slone thanks us and lets on that whatever she's planning might be what paves the way towards escaping our enemies for good. One of Slone's final audio logs indicates that said plan involves an "Eclipse" — something that the ancient peoples of the jungle must've somehow experienced in their time, eons ago...

  • Jungle Warfare: The theme of the season, which introduced an underground jungle and new guerrilla tactics for warfare.
  • Mythology Gag: This season sees the addition of Optimus Prime, who transfers his consciousness into a man-high body that can no longer transform. This was actually the premise of the Action Masters toyline.
  • Parasol Parachute: The umbrella reward for this season was the "Nana-brella", which as the name implies, is made of bananas.

    Season 4: Last Resort
Season 4 ran from August 25 to November 3, 2023, introducing a trio of fancy POIs hiding underground facilities with Mythic items from seasons past vaulted inside and communication towers that provide future Storm forecasts. In the aftermath of the eclipse forecast by the Apparatus, vampire Kado Thorne emerges with his vast forces to take over the island and suck up its resources, emptying all the old vaults of basically all their loot and building three luxury real estate complexes atop the southwest corner of the map and the (now-former) sites of Lonely Labs and the Citadel. Although they merely appear to be swanky establishments on the outside, their gaudiness hides underground bases containing vast amounts of loot, including Mythic weapons and items Loopers who've been around for a while are sure to recognize. Kado's forces also take over Rumble Ruins, the Slap factory in Slappy Shores, and a tower in MEGA City, as well as erect a few communication towers for analyzing the Storm, and those willing to take on their guards can hijack the towers for themselves and permanently become aware of future Storm Circle locations.

Besides the obvious reason of him being an evil vampire, the Looper seeks to take Kado down because his deepest vault apparently contains something Slone needs for her ongoing plans. She's already tapped criminal mastermind Nolan Chance to plan the heist, though as he (and his former co-conspirator Antonia) admits, he's made a very bad habit of burning bridges, leaving him without a crew. With nobody else interested in joining up, Nolan and the Looper are going to have to try their best to get the band back together.

After some convincing, the Looper is first able to recruit getaway/pizza delivery driver Piper Pace, and they also help Nolan make up with Antonia in the process. More students from Class 1-A also arrive, including sturdy hero Eijiro Kirishima, the energetic and acidic Mina Ashido, and most notably, the Half-Hot Half-Cold Shoto Todoroki, whose ability to create massive ice walls has somehow become an item loopers can use.

The next member to be brought back into the fold is the gang's muscle, the beefy exercise enthusiast (and cousin of Triggerfish) Fish Thicc, who's only interested in getting an exercise gym built for the Coral Buddies. After a failed attempt at building a Slap franchise to acquire funds (Kado bought them out, after all), Nolan agrees to bankroll the gym in exchange for Fish Thicc joining the gang. Just two weeks later, darkness falls across the land for Fortnitemares, and Kado unleashes his true vampiric form for the occasion, while also guarding his deepest vault (known as the Inner Sanctum) containing the time machine that he has been using to acquire all the artifacts housed in his complexes. Additionally, thriller author Alan Wake is drawn from Bright Falls and is forced to survive a new waking nightmare, Haddonfield slasher Michael Myers finds a new place to continue his killing spree, and the one and only Pumpkin King, Jack Skellington, arrives to celebrate the spooky season (and maybe spread some of his brand of "Christmas spirit" too). Jones also finally returns, and after taking the time to catch up on the many things he's missed, begrudgingly allies himself with his former boss and hooks up with the heist crew.

During the festivities, the Looper manages to re-recruit Mae, a notorious hacker with an affinity for explosives, Fish Thicc's best friend and the final member of the crew. In the process, Mae mentions that Kado Thorne's time machine is powered by a special type of battery called a "Chrono Cell", which is later discovered to be powered by rifts. After getting the crew back together, Nolan Chance and his team manage to successfully steal Kado's time machine, storing it just outside The Getaway in Frenzy Fields. With the stolen time machine being dated to 2018 07 12 (the coincidental launch date of Chapter 1 Season 5), various artifacts from this period start appearing next to the time machine — only for the artifacts, Jones, and the time machine to mysteriously vanish a few days later. Shortly after, some of the artifacts that vanished earlier start reappearing again in the real world, this time near the homes of various content creators, while certain billboards in MEGA City have begun showing an image of the sky, accompanied by music that will sound familiar to certain Loopers who have been around since the beginning...

  • Heist Episode: This season's theme, which introduced fancy building complexes hiding underground vaults to heist for Mythic gear. The plot also centers on the looper and criminal mastermind Nolan Chance rebuilding his old crew to infiltrate Kado Thorne's most well-protected vault to swipe an item Slone needs for her mysterious plan to escape from the island's enemies.
  • Parasol Parachute: This season's umbrella reward was the "Eclipse Brella", a stylish, technological umbrella styled after the masks worn by Kado and his forces.
  • Putting the Band Back Together: The storyline involves reuniting Nolan with his old crew for the aforementioned heist.

    Season OG: Where We Droppin'?
The fifth season of Chapter 4, Season OG (aka Fortnite OG) lasted from November 3, 2023, to December 2, 2023. This radically atypical season, as the name suggests, sees a return to the island from Chapter 1, with players experiencing a heavily condensed version of the events of Chapter 1, Seasons 5-X over the course of the month, complete with elements taken from each time period's respective map changes and item pools; various mechanics and modes from after Chapter 1, namely sprinting, mantling, Reboot Vans, and Zero Build were retained, however.

Thanks to the time machine, the Loopers have successfully been sent back in time, specifically to the date the machine was last locked to: the beginning of Chapter 1, Season 5. Why we specifically are back here is largely a mystery, though do know thanks to an audio log from Slone found near the crashed time machine over in the soccer field at Pleasant Park that Jones' disapearance was him taking the time machine back to do... something. In the meantime, all we can do is see history repeat itself and do business as usual — old school style!

Things get shaken up just two days after arriving in the past, as psychokinetic teen Eleven unexpectedly appears. That Thursday, time lurches forward to Season 6, with Kevin and the Loot Lake island having risen into the air. The time machine has relocated here, as has Slone's message... or rather, a different version of that message; the butterfly effect seems to have taken hold and affected the future in some way. This version of the message reveals that Jones' mission isn't changing the past to alter the future, but an extraction. While not much has changed map-wise, there is one location of interest that has seen some modifications: a rocket launch bay appears to be being erected over at Dusty Divot... except The Scientist isn't here yet. Could Jones be planning on jacking the rocket for himself?

More surprises await when time jumps again a week later, as the Island is now in a weird Season 7/Season 8 hybrid time period. Not only has Kevin not imploded, but the iceberg is noticeably smaller (with the Ice King and Prisoner nowhere in sight, meaning no volcano or jungle), Flush Factory hasn't been replaced by Happy Hamlet, and Greasy Grove isn't a frozen lake. These alterations can be pinned on Jones, who seemingly attempted to drive the time machine to another location, but crashed into Loot Lake, forcing him to drag the machine across, thereby leading to Kevin's return. This week's iteration of Slone's message, which has relocated to Dusty Divot alongside the time machine, simply remarks on her relationship with Jones. Speaking of Dusty Divot, Jones has indeed built the rocket ahead of schedule, though what involvement it has in Slone's plan remains a mystery.

Our time in the past reaches its climax after another week, as a hybrid of Seasons 9 and X acts as our final stop. While the "Neo" environments are nowhere to be found, the Scientist's time-stopped meteor (complete with his pod embedded inside) has made a sudden appearance. Back at Dusty Divot, the time machine has been strapped to the rocket, and Slone's message now acts as a farewell to the versions of her and Jones they know. An all-too-familiar countdown timer has also appeared above the rocket, set to expire on December 2nd. Oh, and the half-human/half-Viltrumite superhero Invincible *insert title theme here* suddenly appears for reasons that become apparent later.

When the timer expires, the rocket launches, vanishes into a rift, then other rockets emerge from that rift to draw the meteor into another rift, which is then guided down into Loot Lake, causing the loopers to fly into the air and reality to implode... but that's where the similarities to Chapter 1's conclusion end. Both the rocket (as it's launching) and the meteor (as it falls into Loot Lake) randomly transformed into other objects during their travels, and instead of a black hole, things culminate in a massive Big Bang of swirling, oscilating energy, from which emerges the Looper and a whole lot of other things (including a Fall Guy). The Looper is soon drawn into a galaxy-like vortex that takes takes them and three companions to a LEGO-themed version of the island. After a couple minutes of gliding around and taking in the sights, the Looper and co. are pulled out and enter another world — a racing-oriented reality with a few familiar cars. One lap around the track later, and the gang are taken to a third world, where they land on a concert stage currently playing host to Eminem. Everyone jams out to "Lose Yourself" until a giant counterpart to the rapper, "Marshall Never More", arrives on the scene and pulls the Looper and co. into a post-apocalyptic realm, whereafter he starts singing "Godzilla" as he rampages. After that, the Looper is pulled out for a final time, now left adrift in a galactic sea of worlds...

  • All the Worlds Are a Stage: Played With. After the Big Bang from the rocket, galaxy-like vortexes sucked the Loopers in, showing LEGO, Rocket League in form of racing, some sort of dimension featuring Eminem, and... so much more.
  • Anti-Frustration Features: As mentioned, various elements that were added post-Chapter 1 have been retained, including sprinting (which makes traversing the Chapter 1 island much more enjoyable, given the dearth of drivable vehicles), mantling, Reboot Vans, and the ability to play in Zero Build mode; various areas that would be otherwise impossible to escape without building have had rifts placed in them to make this tenable (as well as just be less frustrating in general). These retentions all serve to not only enhance what would otherwise be "Chapter 1, But Again" for longtime players, but avoid alienating newer players who started playing during later chapters.
    • The Battle Pass (or "OG Pass", as it was referred to) for this season is roughly half the size of a normal Battle Pass to account for the shorter-than-normal season length.
    • Due to server problems causing the players to wait for Loads and Loads of Loading, Epic decided to re-run the event twice in the same day (December 2nd). However, due to the problems being From Bad to Worse after the initial run, the earlier of the extras got cancelled, leaving Epic with only one re-run.
  • Call-Forward: Surprisingly, Invincible's appearance here is actually canon to the animated series, though we wouldn't be made aware of that until months later. The finale of Season 2, "I Thought You Were Stronger", sees Invincible flung through various alternate realities by Angstrom Levy, and in one instance he returns to his home reality and clocks Levy by using a Dragon's Breath Sniper as a makeshift club. The Dragon's Breath wasn't actually usable this season, but with Fortnite having weird time-space shenanigans of its own, we'll let it slide.
  • Godzilla Threshold: Due to the nature of The End of Chapter 1, the extraction ended up serving as this to the entire omniverse, for this time the rocket and the meteor both glitched due to the power of the time machine, transforming them into various objects during their travels. Which may be the main reason why the Big Bang went differently.
  • Nothing Is the Same Anymore: The live event. Due to the difference in how The End is carried out this time, the omniverse underwent a Cosmic Retcon, turning to what's essentially a multiversal version of universe's galaxies. This is even partially lampshaded with a teaser. While previous chapter transitions were somewhat impactful to the Island and related things at the very least, Chapter 5 is a Reboot.
  • Parasol Parachute: The umbrella reward for this season was the "Time Brella", which is essentially the original victory umbrella upgraded into a mini-time machine.
  • Production Throwback: This season's theme, which sees players (figuratively in our world and literally in-canon) travel back in time to the start of Chapter 1, Season 5, with each of the three following major hotfix patches shunting time forward to three "eras" of Chapter 1 (Season 6, Seasons 7 and 8, and Seasons 9 and X, respectively). Each "era" also comes with a few of its respective map changes and item pool changes.
  • Revisiting the Roots: Played With. Returning to the second half of Chapter 1 (especially counting the pre-season release), the Loopers live through and play Battle Royale in a modernized version of Season 5 through Season X, complete with both modern mechanics and the original map. Justified, as the crew and the Loopers went back in time for an extraction mission, which just so happened to give Loopers one more chance to experience the nostalgic original island again.
    • Zig Zagged in the live event, as it started with a recreation of The End of Chapter 1... albeit glitched in the sense of the rocket and the meteor both turning into other objects during the process. Then one implosion later, and... let's just say the eponymous explosion then basically advertised us a gaming ecosystem!
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Kevin in the event. The floating island somehow disappeared as of the start of the event without any apparent explanation, leaving only the Zero Point on the Loot Lake which conveniently enough, allows Jones to re-enact the Chapter 1's The End. Also, previous storyline's major remaining loose threads, such as the whereabouts and fates of the Seven, and AMIE and Geno.

Chapter 5

    Season 1: Underground
Season 1 ran from December 3, 2023 to March 8, 2024, and introduced a newly-rebooted island, reworked mechanics, weapon mods, and more. Re-entering the world of Battle Royale reveals that, once again, a completely new island has taken the place of the (old) old one. With its lush plains, ritzy heights, and snowy peaks, things seem relatively calm... but it's all a ruse. In truth, the strings are being pulled by an order known only as "The Society", consisting of tiger-man Oscar, honorable fencer Nisha, diamond-crusted founder Montague, firestarting leader Valeria, and... Peter Griffin, who's gotten absurdly buff after chugging some expired Slurp Juice. As a show of petty force, they've kidnapped Peely, prompting Jones to join up with Valeria's sister Hope to fight back as "The Underground".

Winterfest arrives roughly a week and a half later, and shipping company Ship It! Express sets up shop to deliver gifts all over the island. As discovered by the looper, however, that nasty Krampus interfered, prompting them to intervene and properly finish holiday preparations. Loot Island also undergoes a seasonal makeover, becoming the new home of Crackshot's Cabin, while Sgt. Winter (eventually) settles at a new island found just off the northern coast and hands out presents as usual. At the same time, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles emerge from the shadows; their reporter friend April O'Neil, always on the trail of a hot scoop, is hot on their tail. Intergalactic emperor Frieza and bio-engineered monster Cell also arrive on the island just in time for Christmas.

Outside of a number of missing posters for Peely popping up across the island and Winterfest's festive decorations getting packed up, things remain largely the same until the climate shifts in mid-January. In accordance with what's been shown on maps for the rail line, the snow in the forest biome home to Rebel's Roost and Lavish Lair melts away, while Hazy Hillside and Classy Courts only become slightly less snowy. Sneaking specialist Solid Snake and his sword-slashing young cohort Raiden also manage to infiltrate the island, bringing some of their gear with them; they're joined shortly thereafter by Peter Griffin's eternal nemesis Ernie the Giant Chicken, evidently seeking to instigate another lengthy brawl.

A few days into February, the maniacal Shredder and his Foot Clan invade the island. As such, the Turtles, now joined by their master/adoptive father Splinter, officially ally themselves with the Underground to take their nemesis down, moving into a room at the Underground's headquarters. Concurrent with the invasion, an open book found in Valeria's mansion has relocated to a hillside at Ruined Reels, planted next to a telescope — it seems Valeria's searching for something. An ice wall near Grand Glacier, known as the Zenith Wall, has also considerably melted due to the change in climate, causing a wrecked airplane to fall perilously close to the edge of the cliff. And finally, an additional road near the northern bridge for the train has begun being paved.

With the Foot's invasion proving to be a major distraction, The Underground decides to go for a big play. Jones, Hope, and the Looper make multiple attacks on The Society's bosses' headquarters, and they're eventually able to track down and rescue Peely — an event that triggers the start of The Society's downfall. Valeria, for her part, is still searching for her mysterious artifact, having relocated her camp to another point by Ruined Reels. The Zenith Wall melts even more, causing the wrecked plane to finally fall into the water below. And perhaps not-so-coincidentally, a mysterious woman known as "Odyssey" has arrived just as all this goes down, looking for answers regarding a mosaic connected to some sort of ancient power... one that seems to be connected to Valeria's search and the medallions that empower The Society's bosses.

Cracks soon form near Valeria's new search spot, with earthquakes causing the newly-formed caldera to grow and fill with lava. Eventually, a giant hand emerges, holding the artifact seen in Valeria's book: a ginormous chest the community had dubbed "Pandora's Box". Despite the ominous nickname and warnings from Odyssey that Valeria's search would almost certainly lead to disaster, countless loopers nevertheless worked together to crack the Box open, and just five days before the season's end, a combined 5 billion points of damage caused the chest to fall from the hand and open... unleashing a giant, firey tornado of evil. Oops!
  • La Résistance: The theme for this season. The Looper works with The Underground to take back the island from a secretive force called "The Society" and rescue Jones' pal Peely. Gameplay elements that integrate with this theme include each of the five bosses being fightable NPCs, vaults owned by The Society that can be opened for loot, and a continuously-travelling train run by The Society with a replenishing loot chest onboard for players to heist.
  • Parasol Parachute: This season's victory umbrella is the "Rebel Brella", a marine green parasol designed to match The Underground's design ethos.
  • Rescue Arc: The main plot of this season, which sees Jones and an underground revolutionary band fight against The Society to retake the island and rescue Peely from their clutches.
  • Sliding Scale of Gameplay and Story Integration: To reflect Peely being kidnapped by the Society, the icon for his original skin was changed to a scratched up photo of him.

    Season 2: Myths and Mortals
Season 2 ran from March 9, 2024, to May 24, 2024, and brought the myths and legends of the Olympian pantheon to the island. The opening of Pandora's Box acted as a signal for the gods of Olympus, who descended upon the island, in the process restoring the scattered ruins and causing the domains of Mount Olympus and the Underworld to supplant Hazy Hillside and Ritzy Riviera, respectively. The warrior-king Zeus isn't happy with what the loopers did, and is preparing to judge (read:smite) them for their crime. On the positive side, Pandora's Box has been successfully re-sealed thanks to the efforts of Hades and his loyal guard-hound Cerberus, who are now working to gather the souls that escaped. There also might be those among the pantheon who aren't entirely onboard with Zeus' vendetta. However, even with the battle of the gods raging, there's another matter that might be even more important: after years of searching, Marigold thinks she's finally pinpointed Midas' location after he vanished back during Chapter 2, and has called back his old crew to reunite under the banner of SHADOW to track him down... and given the circumstances, this begs the question of if Midas really is that famous king of Greek myth.

The Oracle, an unseen entity that also arrived with the pantheon, calls the looper forth to her scrying pools to warn them of Zeus' forthcoming annihilation. She tasks them with gaining the attention of the pantheon, and the looper manages to attract both Hades (who has them battle Cerberus) and Ares, the god of war (who fights the looper directly). The Oracle reconvenes with the looper after their trials, prophesizing "hope lost, and found again." With the pantheon's attention now acquired, the looper and the Oracle are going to have to find those among Zeus' entourage who are willing to hear the mortals' champion out...

...But that'll have to wait — Midas has made his grand return, and Marigold has the looper investigate the nature of his escape. As it turns out, he'd somehow wound up imprisoned in the Underworld, only for a careless guard to remove one of the power-dampening chains keeping him locked up, allowing Midas — truly the King Midas — to use his golden touch to eliminate the guard (leaving a golden Reboot Card behind), remove the other chain, and bust out. The king has the looper see if Brutus, who he left in charge of his crew while he was away, decided to betray his boss. Though a thorough sweep of the Marigold (Midas' yacht, which wound up in the Society's hands until their downfall) found bugs aboard, Brutus himself confirms they were planted by Hope during the Underground/Society war, and is just happy to relinquish leadership back to Midas — he prefers being number 2 as opposed to management. Then, thanks to research done by the looper, Jules thinks she can create gauntlets that Midas can wear to suppress his golden touch whenever he wants. And finally, Midas' gang, with the looper's help, creates a big distraction while Midas retakes his yacht and makes a getaway.

Earlier on, shortly after the arrival of the gods of Olympus, the Island was greeted with the next generation Avatar, master of all four elements, Korra, who had joined in on the fight against the gods. But at some point in early April, a mysterious iceberg had begun approaching the island over the course of a couple of days. And over the course of those days, a trio interesting visitors who were capable of wielding individual elements had arrived: Katara, Zuko, and Toph. Once the iceberg had arrived, mysterious shrines of the four elements, Water, Earth, Fire, and Air have shown up all around the island (Along with some highly destructible cabbage carts). But most importantly was who was inside said iceberg: The Avatar before Korra's generation and the last Airbender of that era, Aang.

As the iceberg approached, the looper was called forth by Aphrodite, Goddess of Love and eons-long advocate of mortalkind. Though she appreciates the looper's heroism, she's worried that this is a hopeless battle, given Zeus' immense stubbornness. As the looper proves their heroism and attempts to get Aphrodite out of her funk, they collect edicts written by Zeus from Aphrodite, Poseidon, and... Peely, who the Oracle states wasn't the intended recipient, but also notes is seemingly a lynchpin holding reality together. The retrieval of the third edict reveals that Zeus is also attempting to recruit allies, and he's targetting Artemis, Goddess of the Hunt, next. After currying Aphrodite's favor by helping the homeless Peely, the looper establishes a reputation as a hunter to catch Artemis' attention. Impressed, Artemis not only agrees to speak with them, but also to stand alongside them against Zeus — his plans for mortals' extinction violate the rules of the hunt, and even a god must accept punishment for such a crime.
  • The Bus Came Back: After years away, Midas (with his old crew in tow) makes a grand return.
  • Divine Conflict: The season focuses on gods battling it out against each other.
  • Elemental Powers: For the duration of the Elements event, players would be able to wield the four elements used throughout the Avatar series.
  • God of Thunder: One of the most famous examples, if not the codifier of tropes, which can be faced as a boss in Mount Olympus.
  • Hell Hound: A skin that refers to the original myth, introduced in Chapter 5 Season 2, both as a skin and as a boss faced at 'the Grim Gate'. He also brings up the trope again by summoning hell wolves himself.
  • Mythology: The theme for this season.
  • Parasol Parachute: This season's victory umbrella is themed around Zeus' lightning bolts.

Fortnite Tie-In Comics

    Fortnite x Marvel: Nexus War

Issue 1: Thor

  • The comic starts by summarizing (at the time) recent events, including Thor's ascension to the throne of Asgard, and a battered Galactus arriving at Thor's doorstep, begging for help in combating the Black Winter. Making Thor his Herald, he reluctantly agrees to help Galactus find and consume five special planets to give him enough energy to combat it.

  • After devouring the first planet, Galactus is distracted by a massive rift, one leading to Reality Zero, and the Zero Point. Galactus, drawn in by the power, flies into the rift, a desperate Thor flying in after him.

  • Thor lands on the island, and it starts to affect him, Thor resisting for now. He encounters Brite Bomber and Kit first, but they react worriedly to his presence and get ready for battle. Thor tries to avert the fight, but he's ambushed by Raven, Jonesy the First, Lynx, and Peely. He battles them, trying to get them to talk to him, not knowing that the island mutes you. He starts to be affected by the memory draining magic, and drops Mjolnir, only for everyone to attack him still, an angered Thor restarting the fight, picking up his hammer again. The battle stops, however, when the combatants notice Galactus far in the distant sky. Thor sends Hugin and Munin through Bifrost to contact Sif, who sends Groot, Iron Man, Storm, She-Hulk, Wolverine, Captain America, Mystique, and Dr. Doom. Thor tries to rally everyone, only for Iron Man to ask who everyone is, already affected by the memory-affecting abilities of the Island...

Various other issues

  • Various Marvel characters that have appeared in Fortnite up to this point are shown briefly disappearing and reappearing moments later in a flash of Bifrost energy, none of them sure what just happened. Storm, Mystique, and Psylocke, for example, reappear holding guns. When Groot and Rocket reappear, they aren't sure what happened but decide not to bring it up again.

    Batman: Zero Point

  • In another reality, a rift opens in the skies of Gotham City. As Batman investigates the rift, he is kicked in shortly after witnessing Harley Quinn jump in on her own.

  • When Batman reawakens, he finds himself in the Loop, unable to speak and without any memories. The storm quickly closes in, pushing Batman into a large brawl where recognises Catwoman. Finding that they work together well, the two defeat the remaining combatants together.

  • The Loop resets. Batman quickly takes note of the situation, writing down notes that carry through loops. He quickly makes an ally out of Catwoman, and the two investigate the Island. While doing so, they encounter Harley Quinn, who seems familiar to them; yet they are unsuccessful in bringing her to their side.

  • Batman and Catwoman deduce that the storm's centre changes in each loop; and that something must happen when there is only one person left standing. Catwoman eventually escapes the Loop when Batman sacrifices himself, leaving him on his own.

  • Concerned by Batman's actions, the Imagined Order sends in Snake Eyes to take care of him; but the two eventually team up, allowing Batman to escape the Loop. Once outside, Batman finds himself with a group of other escapees, including Catwoman and Deathstroke. Renegade Raider, the group's leader, explains the mysteries of the Island to Batman; buildings that suddenly appear, and notable events that have happened.

  • The team gathers artifacts, which reinforce the idea that the Island is artificial. Using their energy signatures, the group opens a locked hatch, leading the group to an underground area with a plethora of weapons. Fishstick, who had been sent underwater to check for traps, is hit with an explosion and dies of his injuries after retrieving a small, rusted device that allows users to retain their memories in the Loop.

  • The group fights their way to the Bridge, where they find the Zero Point; and entity that serves as a link between realities. Eternal Voyager dashes toward it, getting torn apart in the process, his pieces finding their way across multiple realities. The group eventually figures out a way to stabilise the Zero Point and settle on a single reality; eventually landing on Renegade Raider's home reality, which she returns to. As the members of the party go back to their home realities one by one, Batman realises that without someone at the control panel, someone will need to stay back. Deathstroke outs himself as the traitor that killed Fishstick, and returns himself to Gotham City while leaving behind a device.

  • Using the device, Batman and Catwoman return to the Loop, in an attempt to take Harley Quinn with them. There, they encounter Snapshots of themselves. When they bring Quinn out of the Loop and to the Bridge, she is reluctant to leave and exits the Bridge. However, with the Zero Point centered on Gotham City, Batman and Catwoman return, where their original memories come back to them. Batman destroys the Bridge's control panel on the way.

  • In Metropolis, Deathstroke meets with Lex Luthor, The Batman Who Laughs, and Doctor Slone. Their plan works exactly as Slone intended, creating a tether to the Bridge. In return, the Imagined Order opens a rift in Metropolis...

     Batman x Fortnite: Foundation

  • The action starts in the rift in Metropolis. Villains are fighting heroes, the villains trying to enter the rift. Batman warns Superman about entering the rift, citing what happened to them. The leader, Lex Luthor, is discovered, the Flash and Plastic Man also discovering the Batman Who Laughs. Although thankfully, without Dr. Manhattan's powers.

  • Batman traces Zero Point energy to Gotham Harbor, finding the Foundation there. The Foundation's internal computer summarizes the events of the start of Chapter 2 Season 6, Foundation trying to head back to Reality Zero. Unfortunately, Batman stands in his way, wanting information. The two fight, the fight stopping when Batman brings up the Zero Point, Foundation shocked he's been there. His reaction make Batman deduce that Foundation's not with the Imagined Order.

  • The two talk, Foundation sharing the importance of the Zero Point and Imagined Order's threat to it. Foundation snaps at Batman for asking questions, but stops himself and becomes more cooperative. He shares the origin of existence, and how the IO gets from world to world. They share theories about the rift, Batman realizing he was being used. Batman and Foundation start forming a plan, only for Chemo to attack the Batwing. Foundation launches Chemo into space, only to be attacked by Lex Luthor. Foundation damages Luthor's armor enough to force him to retreat.

  • Foundation picks up Batman to get him near the Rift, checking to make sure that it IS Batman after spotting Clayface earlier. The problem is that Batman Who Laughs has the same DNA at Batman, Batman Who Laughs dropping his holographic disguise and attacking the Foundation. He leaps into the Loop, Batman warning him too late. Foundation follows him into the loop, swearing that the Batman Who Laughs will never leave Reality Zero.

  • The Foundation and Batman Who Laughs fight, the Storm closing in. The Batman Who Laughs taunts him, only for Foundation to seemingly knock him out. As the Storm closes, Foundation the only one conscious, the Rift is sealed. The villains retreat, and Batman is just relieved that Batman Who Laughs is seemingly trapped in the Loop for good, believing he won't remember who he is.

  • The Foundation escapes the Loop, and heads back to join his comrades. Inside the Loop, Batman Who Laughs wakes up and looks around, still able to speak and remembering who he is thanks to his World Forge metal visor. He brutally kills Tomatohead, wondering if his visor will stop snapshots of himself from being created. He then decides he doesn't care, thinking about his real plan as Loopers swarm him. He's tired of attacking just DC universes, and wants the Zero Point to spread his corruption to all realities. In the meantime, he'll have some fun battling the Loopers over and over and over...

     Fortnite x Marvel: Zero War

Issue 1

  • It starts out with Spider-Man, the Imagined, and Agent Jones walking into a bar, blowing Wolverine's disguise and trying to recruit him, telling him about when the Daily Bugle disappeared into the Loop.

  • Spidey tells him about his part in the war, fighting alongside the Seven to take an I.O. base. Fishstick dies, 8-Ball mourning his loss, only to be assured by Foundation that that particular Fishstick was a snapshot... and the real one died a while ago. As the Seven discuss the Mecha, flashing back to the battle with Mecha Team Leader and the Devourer, they talk about rebuilding it, going to the ice moon, although the constant storms would be a problem.

  • Spider-Man offers the help of his fellow heroes, including Storm and Thor. Jones offers to help, while the Origin tells Spider-Man that a part of the Zero Point is in his world. The Order has her sister, the Imagined going with them due to lack of trust of Spider-Man and Jones. They sneak into the IO base, Jones finding his office and taking a picture for nostalgia purposes, the group finding the Zero Point. Once the calibrations are done, Gunnar and Dr. Slone come to confront the group. Slone thinks Gunnar is Geno, only for the Foundation to dispel that illusion. The Foundation fights off the two IO members while Spidey, the Imagined, and a crestfallen Jones finish calibrating things and leap into the Zero Point. Foundation is knocked away by Gunnar, and the trio end up in the Marvel universe... except the Imagined has already made a bad impression on Captain Marvel and is fighting her. Spider-Man stops the fight and rallies the Avengers, including many who've been to the island before. Iron Man takes command, ready to delegate, while the trio starts on their other mission, which brings them back to Wolverine, who agrees to fight.

  • Meanwhile, Dr. Doom and Geno are speaking about the Zero Point, Geno happily recruiting the good Doctor to the Imagined Order...

Issue 2

  • The Foundation and Iron Man lead the charge against an IO base with the united Seven and Avengers. Almost immediately, Foundation and Iron Man's egos start clashing, although they admit they like each other's armor design. They agree to a compromise. Foundation, Scientist, Thor, Storm, and Iron Man head to the Ice Moon, while Captain Marvel takes command of the remaining forces on the island.

  • Meanwhile, back in Reality 616, there's a bit of a problem in Wakanda, as Imagined, Jones, Wolverine and Spider-Man are fighting Wakandan security mechs. Shuri gets the mechs to stand down, Jones and Spider-Man's attempts to explain getting pre-empted by Wolverine. Shuri takes them back to Wakanda's capital, telling them about Vibranium when Imagined admits the signal of the Zero Point fragment is being blocked. They're shown the Vibranium mine and allowed to look around for the shard, and JUST the shard (as a curious Jones is reminded of at gunpoint). Wolverine realizes the shard has been taken, Shuri guiding them to a possible place it might be, a region where dinosaurs still exist. They're confronted by red-clad Hybrids riding velociraptors, who use explosives to hide their escape. Spider-Man, to his dismay, realizes that there's a strong chance the fragment was stolen by one of his old problems, Stegron the Dinosaur Man. Spider-Man points out the next leg of their journey: The Savage Land.

  • Storm and Thor, meanwhile, are doing battle with the ice moon's weather, Iron Man and Scientist commiserating as they land the ship. They find the mech immediately, examining it to determine if it can be fixed. Foundation, however, calls the attention of the two scientists. He's found the Paradigm. And she's alive.

Issue 3

  • On Reality Zero's ice moon, Iron Man, Foundation, and Scientist revive Paradigm. Foundation is ready to kill Paradigm, citing her siding with the Imagined Order during the Devourer attack. Foundation claims they could have used leverage against the Imagined Order. Paradigm claimed that she had no choice, that IO was willing to let the Devourer wipe out the island, only agreeing to let her take a shot at it due to the risk to the Zero Point. Paradigm talked them out of making a doomsday weapon to wipe out the Devourer (and everything else on the island) and let her take a shot with the Mecha Team Leader. Scientist backs Paradigm, citing that IO is doing the same thing again, and Iron Man backs her as well. Foundation reluctantly agrees to take her at her word. While they do agree to use the mech, there's a question of powering it. Iron Man points out that there's people looking for a good power source right now: a crystallized piece of the Zero Point.

  • In the Savage Land of Earth 616, Jones, Spider-Man, Imagined, Wolverine, and Shuri battle dinosaurs and more Hybrid ninjas, eventually settling down to make camp. As Jones tells Shuri and Spider-Man about the Imagined Order, Imagined and Wolverine head off on their own, trading tales of their own. Imagined talks about how she and her sister were created by their father, Geno, citing the Imagined Order's goal as building the perfect organizational system for the perfect civilization. Imagined and Order lived a life of privilege, and when other members of IO's higher ups made a bet with Geno to see if they could be the first to escape the Loop. They weren't. When they got back, they find that they'd been replaced by Snapshots of themselves, more vicious due to being shaped by the Loop's endless fighting. Wolverine shows sympathy to Imagined, affirming her self-worth, and the two become intimate.

  • Meanwhile, Jones and Shuri are enjoying a discussion about the Zero Point. After convincing Spider-Man to leave Imagined and Wolverine alone, Shuri heads off on her own, leaving Jones and Spider-Man to set up hammocks. Spider-Man reminds Jones of the picture he took, and Jones starts talking about his family. About how he ended up outliving them, IO agreeing to protect his family in exchange for his service. His family lived to a ripe old age (apparently a rare occurance on his world), and Jones was made immortal. When Jones expressed a desire to grow up and die with his grandchildren, Dr. Slone cited him as too useful to let go, saying that if he left, his family would lose their protection. So he stayed, until IO's machinations became too much for his conscience. Spider-Man can relate with Jones...

  • The next day, the group finds a fortress in the Savage Land, confronting Stegron and several other dinosaur men, as well as the High Evolutionary, who has the Zero Shard and is refusing to let it go. The Imagined attacks the Evolutionary directly, Shuri coming up with a plan that involves Spider-Man. Spider-Man sneaks into the fortress, his part-spider DNA making him immune to Evolutionary's traps, only to find that Dr. Doom had snuck in during the fight to steal the Zero Shard. He mocks the heros, leaving Hybrid ninjas to fight Spider-Man while Doom escapes. High Evolutionary calls a truce, Imagined's team chasing after Dr. Doom. High Evolutionary, meanwhile, starts loading up a ship that will hopefully survive what he feels is the inevitable collapse of all existence...

Issue 4

  • Spider-Man's group arrives on the Ice Moon, chasing Dr. Doom into the the Ice King's castle, encountering a collection of frozen artifacts and creatures. They encounter the Ice King himself, frozen on his throne. Jones, curious, accidentally triggers a trap that activates a hologram of the Ice King, which starts to explain his history.

  • The Ice King explaines that his comrade, who eventually became known as the Prisoner, were collectors of items and beings of power. The Prisoner grew power hungry and wanted to use the items the Ice King freezing him and his collection to keep them from escaping, bringing the Ice Moon to Reality Zero. A cosmic storm brought a chunk of the moon to the Island, freeing the Prisoner and the Ice King, who began fighting again. The Prisoner was defeated and frozen underwater for good. The Devourer, the worst of the contained threats, was defeated by the Mecha Team Leader. The Ice King returned to the Ice Moon, making it inhospitable for life, not wanting to fail in his guardianship again. Citing their presence here as reason enough for them being dangerous, the Ice King hologram proclaims that Spider-Man's group shall be frozen into his collection.

  • Everyone tries to escape. The Imagined tries to contact Foundation, but there's a blocking signal. Before they can escape the castle, though, Doom shows up, having taken some of the Ice King's collection for himself. Everyone fights back, annoying Doom to the point where he decides to just use the Zero Shard to attack. Shuri uses a device to short out the Shard's power, Spider-Man retreating with it. Everyone else stays to fend Doom off. Spider-Man almost freezes, but is found by the Foundation's group. Doom is about to kill Jones, Imagined, Shuri, and Wolverine, when the empowered Mecha Team Leader shows up and drives him off. Annoyed, Doom flees, proclaiming that the final battle will be on the island, the mech rescuing the others and destroying the Ice King's castle, ready to return...

Issue 5

  • The Foundation, alarmed, reports on the Imagined Order's apparent evacuation. Paradigm moves in with the mech, trading barbs with Foundation. Jones reports on the fighting shape of the heroes, Spider-Man and Iron Man coming in in their new armor. Iron Man's eager to take his new suit home, but Foundation kiboshes that, Iron Man pouting.

  • Wolverine comes in, wearing regular clothes and an eyepatch, flirting with Imagined. Shuri teases Jones for ghosting her, but reveals she was told about Jones' family and isn't mad. The Order, meanwhile confronts Wolverine, and hugs him for making Imagined happy.

  • Triggerfish comes in, dying in the Scientist's arms, revealing he lost his entire unit getting intel to them. The Seven gives the battle plan, sending people after shield generator bases. Thor rallies the troops, and the attack begins.

  • Paradigm shreds the troops with Mecha Team Leader's sword, and readies the charged blade strike. Before she can use it, the Mecha Team Leader drops into a chasm. Everyone moves in, Iron Man getting blasted out of the air by someone standing on the Collider. Everyone moves in, while Imagined realizes who the attacker was - Geno. Her father. Calling in her sister, Imagined and Wolverine move in to go after Geno. The three go in after Geno, ready to attack, Geno fighting back, showing off a great deal of power.

  • Gunnar gets knocked aside by Order's charge. Wondering where Doom was, he goes to find him, only to find the good doctor stealing tech and getting ready to leave. Doom shoots Gunnar fatally and compliments the Imagined Order's ideals, while claiming only he's capable of engineering a perfect society, leaving Gunnar's corpse behind.

  • Geno, meanwhile, is kicking the butts of his daughters and Wolverine. They all tackle him off of the balcony they were fighting on, ready to drop Geno into the Zero Point (which would scatter his body across the omniverse), hanging off of him as he hangs onto a banister. Imagined confirms something for Wolverine, the sisters blasting Geno free from the banister he was holding onto... Wolverine digging his claws into the wall and saving the Order, who screams desperately for her sister as she and Geno fall into the Zero Point. Wolverine tries to comfort her... only for Order to point out that Geno was still intact. Enraged, Geno orders the attack to continue.

  • Meanwhile, Dr. Slone confronts Jones and the Foundation with a tank, promising to 'clean up her mess.' Jones tries to appeal to Slone's better nature, only for her to mock him. Jones then gives her a casual warning, only for her to look up just in time to see the Mecha Team Leader's fist slamming down on her tank, smashing her through the platform and crushing the tank utterly

  • Foundation and Jones get on the mech's hand, Foundation realizing that the Zero Point is focused on Geno. That this is their best chance to get to him. They chase after him, finding Geno cradling Imagined, the two of them dissolving at a molecular level. Geno mocks Foundation for being unable to accept that he's won. He tells Foundation that he finally has a chance to prove that his way is better, telling him that he's the only hope that existence has left. He lets Foundation take what he wants from Geno's lair, citing that he'll be glad to finally rest... asking who Jones is as he ceases to exist. Jones is absolutely outraged at being unrecognized after centuries of service. Foundation reluctantly fistbumps Jones after they return.

  • The Bifrost is connected to Reality Zero, Thor citing a need to celebrate their victory, Scientist going to jot down a few thoughts.

  • Spider-Man and Jones have one last talk, Jones questioning himself and Spider-Man comforting him. Shuri comforts Jones as well, before heading out. Wolverine tries to comfort the Order, but Order threatens him. She says she'll avoid Wolverine's reality out of respect for Imagined... but if she ever sees him again, she'll destroy him.

  • Foundation and Iron Man, with respect for each other, shake hands, although Iron Man can't resist teasing Foundation one last time.

  • Meanwhile, in various realities, Geno starts piecing himself back together...
